The "you don't have sleep when you need it" is very true. I played a lot of Ana, and I never use it on the chance that I get jumped. I do tend to miss it regardless, though...

so many newer players seem to operate under the assumption that if they aren't maximizing cooldown uptime you're throwing, so they just spam sleep and anti off cooldown into team fights, or get caught without an escape for movement heros

I mean support is supposed to be a major priority so being dove a lot is normal. Being in the wrong place isn't them diving you just you standing in front of them.
I'm learning Ana and this video helped me realize how bad my positioning really is. I thought it was pretty good but I play alot like the person we spectate
my brother plays like this as well, but he somehow still does good idk how LMAOO

Not to say this Ana’s positioning was good but they kept leaving decent positions because the team kept leaving LOS. People at this rank don’t back out of teamfights and get the proper cover. So this Ana feels like they need to make bad plays to give their team a chance to get healed.

As a dia Ana main, I would love to get such enemy team comps. No Genji, no Tracer diving you with the tank. That looks like holiday to me 😂

I don’t think this person knows what being “dove constantly” actually means. Try a good doom or Winston with tracer/gengi and sometimes a Moira/lucio who have you running all the time and your heals are so low because you’re constantly harassed and fighting for your life - that’s what I thought we were going to see … not they randomly came after you a couple times.
Have had this happen to me. Was getting dove by a Doomfist I pissed off in my previous game. He was tilted, and came after me the entire time.
Bro came after me the entire game. All of my deaths were to him, and I was getting yelled at by a DPS over it. I mean sure, I could have swapped to Illari, or one of my other supports I know how to play, but I was mostly staying on Ana to spite the Bastion at that point.
Had a tank complain about heals when me and the other support were just pumping non-stop heals into them, but they never once went for cover and always had the 20% debuff we had to keep trying to compensate for. Never once did we get time to help dps or heal others - if ever we did, the tank would immediately fall over.
Then let him, I like to think of the DPS passive as a consistent doomfist or dive tank, because even if it's inconsistent as long as you pump in damage the other team has to back off and while your tank is being rolled over use him as a decoy to farm ult charge off of the people attacking your tank. If he has no self preservation let him burn
This gave me so much anxiety 😅 pushing up like that as Ana is crazy
As a support, I hardly break positioning. I’m not peeling for you as Ana across the map. They’ll either learn or not. Up to them.
I feel like 6:22 is a perfect example of why ignoring what your team does and playing for map control exclusively doesn’t always work
If you never do it, then it's wrong. If the tank dies, then the fight has been lost for sure. Sometimes you'll sweat and be angry because they have NO CLUE where you are, but as a support, you're the one who's supposed to adapt to what the tank does (most of the time).
With that being said, sometimes the tank is just completely out of sight no matter what your position is, even if you're in his own pants. For those cases, i agree with you, don't try to save them. Happily some of them can be saved, and the team actually deserves that you sweat a little bit.
Btw i'm an Ana main (never been higher than Master in OW2 tho :/) so i know perfectly all the frustrations you probably had in mind when you wrote your comment

This is how to get hard stuck in silver and be constantly slated for not healing by your tanks for the rest of time.

Asking because I wanna Emongg coaching next and I wanna make sure I know what to say in the description before I hit send.
My main concern playing ana in certain maps where there are a lot of cover and unable to heal sometimes, so while playing back and your team suddenly decides to push, you cant keep up bc you dont have a movement ability. What would you usually do? I just switch to a mobile support if this happens often 😂
I've been top of diamond for a long time...... I play like this. Bad positioning, I see now. baaaaaaad positioning. I learned a lot. Some of these criticism feel like they could be applied directly to my OW games lol
Position in my opinion is the hardest thing to achieve. I’m also diamond high 2 on tank and position is hard.
I personally think aiming is easy and people focus on that to much
I love playing as melee range Ana cause it's terrifying because you're always reloading exactly when you need one more shot to win. Do not follow my Ana advice.

first, i appreciate this player's mindset. they just want to get back into gold. that's a good goal! it's reasonable. it will take some time until they're comfortably solid in gold because being at the top of one rank/bottom of the next one up means you're still working on the skills gold players have but silver players don't AND your games can be very inconsistent so youll probably bounce up and down for a bit, but it's a perfectly achievable goal. reasonable goals and expectations are so important for improving. its all about one step at a time and being honest about your actual skill level. this is already a great start for this player.

I hate playing support when the other team just dives you constantly and no one peels for you. Its a terrible feeling
and everyone is always like "its a part of being a support" but then your team gets mad when you hhave to swap to am offensie heavy supoort so you're not constabtly dying

So I am a level 62 Life Weaver, in gold. Honestly Life Weaver feels more fun this season because of the passive. Granted this is in low ranks, but because I know I cant keep my team up like I used to I've started pumping out good damage numbers and kills. I'm sure this falls off in fun as you move up though.

Ian watch the video yet. but when Im playing supp ( mainly ana) I'm almost always being targeted. I've had enemy players in chat telling me they were told to focus me
Is quick scoping necessary
it depends on what you mean by necessary. when you're just starting out and trying to get a handle on the basics of Ana, I would say no. I think it's a more intermediate skill that doesn't need to be a priority when you're first starting out. but quick scoping is a skill that separates decent Ana players from good and great Ana players. it just gives you more flexibility. it gives you the advantage of hitscan aim without the disadvantage of the movement penalty of being fully scoped in, AND it helps you avoid tunnel vision because you're not staying scoped in for too long. when you stay scoped in for too long, it can be easy to forget what might be going on outside of the scoped-in view.
quick scoping is necessary unless you want to live in silver/bronze

All Anas are targeted... or should be. When you have one splash ability on a short cooldown that stops all healing and instantly wins every team fight the other team HAS to constantly target you. It's the price of being stupid OP.

Maybe she's just S tier now instead of the S++ she's been in her first 7 years, but now that things are settling down from all the changes you'll notice she is once again all over the top 10 supports on the leaderboard. It's not even really her, tho.. it's just anti-nade. It's broken... always has been, and unfortunately seems like it will always will be 'cus it makes Anas feel like they actually have skill. So ironic.
@@zenpvnk she’s like B tier, have you not played this season? she isn’t meta anymore. sure anti is broken, but with the dps passive buff, hitbox buff and health bar buff, the way ana is played has been changed. anas now have to use her nade more defensively over offensively because she can’t keep up with healing all of the time anymore, making her a weaker support now. there isn’t much of a window to do damage now so anti helps. also isn’t ana like one of the hardest supports to play? having anti doesn’t make her an easy hero to play. there’s also ways to counter anti, just go behind cover if you’re antied at low health lol
