Oddly I figured him out during the Mirrorwatch event. I play alot of mystery heroes but couldn't figure out Doom but mostly just because of the weird teams that mystery heroes can form
"Steamrolled the other team to the point where they started saying gg" I commonly see "gg" in the chat 15 seconds into the first fight. It can happen as early as the hero select screen if someone doesn't like the tank choice.
The Moira on my team said I was throwing and said gg when I traded as sombra with the enemy kiriko in the first 10 seconds. We steam rolled both rounds and won, but seriously, it's annoying as hell
I always see the worst player on my team say gg because they think we aren't playing well because we aren't playing the way they want to. Alot of tanks do it to the supports when they eat a shit ton of damage

Honestly, his Doomfist for Gold, is REALLY good. His target prioritization when the Phara came in though, fell apart completely. That's where he failed. He was trying to constantly go after the Phara as Doom rather than the Moira or Ana literally right next to her, which would of had a much bigger impact to the teamfights, especially as his team was burning down the Winston and DPS well enough that, if there was no supports, they would of rolled pretty easily (just like round 1)

LOL, i think this goes back to hero swap. Some tanks are made for diving, especially if ur comp is super divable. If the enemies are NOT divable (cc galore) I would just say... go Zarya my friend 👍 zarya i think is one of the best at punishing. But also DVA, because you can stop the tank from getting healed, or Wonton for his bubble which stops heals. Hero picks matter 💜

I forget the team comps now though. Probably the case, my back line just didn't have punish capacity, may have already used their cooldowns too. I do know the enemy had an ana who just sat in the back unpressured, making my life miserable the whole game.

A big solution of tank is playing what suits fighting their team, emongg claims not wanting to bring up hero swaps but he is aware with its state tank swapping is a huge advantage, but in lower ranks you can manage just don't expect a fast climb if you don't play that way

Choosing to stay on a character youre more comfortable with or that youre better on or not making a swap who you personally think wouldnt work isnt throwing.

I don't think a lot of people understand just how much patience it takes to play as Rein. The majority of them expect Rein players to be all over the place and swinging wildly at people. What I learned early as Rein is that you need to be patient and block as much damage as you can. Only making moves when you know for sure you can or it falls under an acceptable risk. It's so easy with Rein to get yourself into a position you can't get out of due to him being a melee character and a slow one at that. He's a tank that attacks by opportunity and being a moving wall. He's not going to be any kind of damage dealing tank because of that. At least the way I play Rein is to protect my team, stay on the objective and do damage as the opportunity arises. Sometimes I will charge people though there has to be good odds for it. Last round I played with the moving robot I let them know that I would do what I could when I could and my focus was the bot. Because of exactly that we got a progress win.
I definitely saw the over reaction to pharah. It's normally not the tank's job to kill pharah as they are mostly poorly equipped for that and any decent pharah will make you constantly turn. He also seriously needs work on stationary tanks. Ram's shields can be extremely aggressive in taking and holding ground, or used to enable nemesis form. If I'm about to go super aggressive I'll throw a shield then nemesis form and use the shield as my boundary, killing anything in front of it but not past. That is great for aggression but it leaves a window of no buttons meaning you also need cover to go to. Decent rotation would have worked wonders since the enemy was super easy to intimidate, having retreated the entire first round.
I got flamed for trying tank 😢 They questioned my tank choice and when I asked what they would like me to play they just kept flaming me then took it to public chat. I was genuinely trying while they're at spawn sucking the life out of my confidence lol I don't ever want to touch tank again I know I need practice and I'm willing to learn and take advice but when all you're doing is questioning and flaming someone who is trying then people are just going to give up
While you're learning the new role, turn off chat. That way you can really focus on learning the new role rather than seeing nasty, toxic comments thrown at you. Hardly any beneficial communication comes thru the chat, anyway, and if you really wanted to communicate, you could try voice. Same thing, though. If people start being toxic, just leave the voice chat. Don't let them ruin your experience because when it comes down to it them flaming you is just helping the enemy team.
First rule of online multiplayer is never take advice from people who are clearly toxic. Listen to Emongg and other tank CCs but never listen to toxic people. I got flamed for being a terrible tank by the other tank when I clearly diffed them on 2 tanks (One of which was a mirror) and when they won they had the nerve to say I was a terrible tank. Listening to toxic people is NEVER a good idea in any instance. If you're self conscious about playing tank then turn off text for a time (or forever) and learn it and then if you want to turn it back on when you're comfortable.
If you struggle with confidence in your heroes playing arcade like CTF and mystery heros helped me so much. I’ve only been playing a couple months but those gamemodes sometimes absolutely nobody knows what’s going on, and sometimes in CTF it’s one of those games you’ll lose no matter what so your team doesn’t care at all what you do. Keep going!! I refused to play tank until like month 2, and then I grinded DVA for ages and now she’s a solid fill pick for me. It takes time, OW can be really hard. Also just being mindful of your teamcomp with what tank you pick, you should be able to play one dive and one brawl if you’re role queueing tank, so like Rein and DVA is good enough if you can play them well
Your “let your teammate become the tank” advice has opened my mind on DVA someone I have maybe 10 hours on in comparison to my 600 on Rein. That alone let me pick her up even in low masters high diamond. Made me compare it a bit to a Zarya bubble and help to enable my teammates when it is their pop off moment!
Yknow the second they started playing Winston on defense, he completely stopped going for their backline and was overly focused on the Winston. And if they're playing a Pharah, theres not much you can do as Doom and you kinda just have to trust your team to deal with her. Instead they swap Ramattra, someone who's slow and easily hittable by the Pharah. If he had just played the same way he did during attack, he probably would have been fine :P His doom gameplay is hella good though. Just some target priority and I think this dude is good.
The lower ranks really love to just fold against Pharah 😅 I’ve seen this beautiful move a few dozen times: -The enemy goes Pharah -my team notices we are struggling against Pharah -one of the DPS swaps to counter Pharah -the DPS who swapped does not shoot the Pharah

But that rotation isn’t ideal, at least according to ZBRA, he’s reviewed a king’s row vod like this and you never really wanna engage with slam on this map. I think pharah is honestly 100x better than she was due to the fact that she still spends most of her time in the air, but not in the skybox you don’t need mercy to pocket her and keep her healthy. A Kiri can do it just fine and then her fire rate/boop doing dmg helps make up for the lack of pocket. Kinda busted tbh

Tank isnt a bruiser, its bait. You want to bait the enemy focus, draw the aggro.
