      @@VindicatorJones yes that is true but most of the time on PVP frag users just get close to their victims and strip them down before they can react and boost. and if you are really good at flying the fight wont take more than 30 seconds and that is the problem.

    Stats are not Bullshit! They are very important to determine how to play with your ship. For example, my Cobra III got
    Strength 9 (-1)
    Dexterity 17 (+3)
    Constitution 8 (-1)
    Wisdom 15 (+2)
    Intelligence 16 (+3)
    Charisma 18 (+4)
    So you see it would be a terrible barbarian but a passable rogue, Wizard, Bard or Ranger.
    and you say stats are meaningless

    Python addict here. It's the most versatile ship in ED universe, just edging above the Krait MKII due to having one more size 6 internal. Once engineered it handles correctly, and packs a huge lot of firepower, can jump good distances, have cargo, limpets, interdictor, you name it, all that at once and get on assassination missions and most importantly at the end land on a medium pad. Oh and the cockpit is sexy, cozy, and non intrusive with decent visibility.

    • @VindicatorJones
      @VindicatorJones  5 лет назад +19

      It's duller than beige mixed with more beige wrapped in a beige blanket and dipped in Beige paint and left in the sun to turn just that right shade of beige.. Krait Mk II kicks its ass from here to pluto. ;) BUT HEY.. thats just me.. as I said, fly what you love... Your still weird tho. XD

      Haha i get your point :D Mine is bright yellow and it looks exactly like a space lamborghini (as i didnt fail to notice FDev used the same design cues as the Countach on many aspects..). And the G5 thrusters make it swerve around quite well :) I understand why the default non-engineered ship can be underwhelming.. The extra size 6 internal allows me to have a nice cargo rack in there or transform it into a passenger hauler in a pinch, Krait lacks something there limiting options. I like options :-D (also Python armor is so good..) (here is my combat mission python: s.orbis.zone/170q )

    I got told SO often that turrets are crap, but I think they are really useful, but only in one specific role: Wide coverage.
    My Anaconda can blast any small ship to bits within seconds. If I were able to get the small ship in my crosshairs for that time. 9/10 times, I can’t keep them on my screen. Sure, that might mean that I am a bad pilot, but even Rinzler or Jones or John Jameson wouldn’t be able to keep a small ship in the crosshairs for long. My turrets allow my to keep firing on a target that is not directly in front of me, or even behind me.
    Are they good against large ships? No, but that is why I have gimballed large weapons. Against small ships, my turrets work wonders.

    Weirdo Python Loving Freak of Nature here:
    Thanks for this video. I ALWAYS struggled with what ship to buy next. After my Cobra Mk III, I had no clue. I wanted the best Bounty Hunting Ship out there. Googled around - a friend recommended the Python. Bought it - was happy. But it was sloooow - well because Engineers weren't a thing then. (Still haven't engineered anything of it). But was happy. Bought a Vulture and really got into "personal combat" because it was so maneuverable and fast.
    My "End Goal" was always the Anaconda. The "Big gun". Now I fly it and want to reach the proper ranks for the Corvette and Cutter.
    To drive my point home: I honkered down about spreadsheets and ship builds, tried a TON of different loadouts and NEVER had I that "EUREKA" Moment when I entered a HazRez-Site where I just pwned everything. Beam Lasers rocked - but my Heat was critical. All - The - Time. Back then the Shotguns and Railguns weren't a thing and I was a shit shot - so I needed (and still need) to rely on Gimballed weapons.
    I realized that I fly with MY combination of weapons that suit me best. Not the majority of players or the "best spec sheet". But MY comfort zone. My Anaconda is slow as hell because I haven't engineered it. So I stick mostly to Turret-Weapons. Why? Because they keep firing when the enemy flies over me. Is it lower DPS than everything else? Sure. But it gets the job done.
    Thanks for this video and I hope many many commanders will see it aswell.
    Stats only matter to give you a general direction.
    If you pick up a Type 6 with crap loadout-options for Bounty Hunting, the stats will show you. But the difference between 2 combat ships is negligible and you should always choose what suits your playstile more.

    Amazing Video, we literally had a conversation about Anaconda and Corvette on The Vindicated Discord like yesterday (or was it a day before yesterday?) and I had to explain the same thing about Vette eating Conda due to it having more better things than just DPS.
    But I also have to agree about the statement of it all being bollocks and people needing to fly whatever FEEELS best for them. Just because I am utteraly convinced that a Vette is superior to a Conda doesnt mean I am going to walk around literally spitting in the faces of and castrating people who love the Anaconda more.

    My favorite ship is always the stay alive factor . If your ship starts getting targeted by five ships , you need a good tactical retreat to lick your wounds, and return . For me this leads to fast ships with a lot of empy space , and shield cell banks. With being able to tactically position myself for best advantage against another ship's powerplant , with the option to disengage at the moment of disadvantage.

    Pick what suits your play style. Sure I have the big powerful ships. Corvette etc. but I find myself going back to smaller and faster ships cause I like speed. When it comes to bigger ships I actually play my cutter more than the corvette. No big ship can keep up with my speed. And when I turn around and fire 8 torpedoes followed up with 4x pack hounds and one huge multi cannon. Most bigger ships will flee when shields goes from full to zero in seconds and they see the hull melt from the volley of missiles coming right after. Damn Combat loggers. While I don't necessarily agree with everything you said in this video, it makes a lot of good points. Statistics do matter, but only in a very broad sense. Ship building sites base their figures on optimal conditions. When everything is perfect and in that one split second, that's what you could theoretically achieve based purely on the module statistics. Optimal conditions rarely, if ever, occur. So the stats can only really give you a general overview of what things are capable of.
    Nevertheless, it's an overview that shouldn't be ignored. Maybe not so much in terms of the slight variation between laser types, but moreso in the variation between things like whether you want to use lasers or multicannons, and are trying to work out the advantages and disadvantages of each. Or if you're thinking about using Multis vs Frags. Then you have to take stats like weapon range, falloff, reload times and the drain on your ship's power plant and distributor into account. Engineering effects do also come into play then, but like you said, that's a whole different subject.
    You did mention the most important thing, though, and that's how a ship feels to use. Stats can tell you what "might" be best under perfect conditions, in the right circumstances, but they absolutely do not tell you how good you as a pilot are going to be in achieving these figures. That's something which only comes from experience and getting a "feel" for different ships and loadouts to find the thing that suits you. A perfect example are Railguns. On paper they seem very powerful. But I am terrible at using them, so for me the potential of the weapons is utterly wasted because I can't properly realise it.
    I see a lot of people using builds and loadouts that I think "There's no way I would use that!" But the beauty of Elite is... that doesn't matter. I always tell people "If you find a setup you like, if it works for you and gets the job done, then don't worry about what people tell you is or isn't the right thing to do. If something works for you, go with it."
    Overall, you highlight the main issue with ship builds. The build is based as much on the pilot, if not moreso, than the capabilities of the ship it's for. Which is a very, very important thing to keep in mind. Kudos. :)

    • @VindicatorJones
      @VindicatorJones  5 лет назад +5

      I think this is just my light hearted attempt to say, hey.. stop worrying about min/maxing and enjoy your favorite ship.. Stop worrying about DPS and counting stats and playing the game through a spreadsheet, and enjoy the thrill of flying the ship you love most. Of course statistics are important if your really trying to push the boundaries of a build, but sometimes its good to take a step back, breathe and fly something purely for fun.

    I have both a PvE battle ready Anaconda and a PvE Corevette, in a haz-res they are both pretty similar in how many bounties I can collect per hour - but the Corevette is always my first choice because for me it's just a load more fun to fly (both have grade 5 dirty drag drives), and the Anaconda's unbelievably bad super-cruise turn rate, which you cannot do anything about at all, quite frankly drives me insane so it's pretty bad for assassination missions. I love the Anaconda for other stuff though, just not my first choice for a large combat ship.

    Good video. As far as the Corvette vs. Anaconda bit, you probably should've added that the Anaconda's PP is centerline and easy to hit even without subsystem targeting. The Corvette's PP is further back and kind of hard to hit even when the subsystem is targeted.
    The real complaint most of us Corvette people had (I also own Anacondas) was the poor jump range for it vs the super jump range for the Anaconda. Thanks to Guardian FSD boosters, the Corvette can now have a decent jump range and I, for one, have dropped out of that debate all together.
    More importantly: What paint job is that on the T-10 (Orange with highlights)? I've seen other youtubers use it, but I've seen nothing like it in the store! Also, what paint job is Corvette using at the 34 second mark (purple line)?

  • @mobiuscoreindustries
    @mobiuscoreindustries 5 лет назад +3

    You are right, statistic don't matter... as long as they are not made a requirement.
    Let me take warframe for example. There is plenty of absurd min max shenanigans you can do, and plenty of things to go around to apply your efforts onto. But even a half assed build will carry your ass from one end of the star chart and back around through all the main content with absolutely no issues. You will be able to enjoy all that is aviable and win plenty of money, resources, items, and just have fun while still doing something to progress.
    Then look at elite. Yes stat dont matter but even putting a slapdash fun build on require millions, even more when rep becomes a thing. Maybe you just like to go fast? Well for that you will need countless materials and grind to get to the point where you can go fast. And once you do, you are having fun, yet at the same time you are not progressing. Maybe you like combat a lot, like I do. But fighting in something less than minmaxed ship on an area that is not busted profitable, then you will be barely making any progress, and hell many times you will end up losing money doing it.
    The stats matter because the only way to reach fun, as well as many of the game's unique activities, requires an ungodly amount of repetitive boring stuff before hand. And so to chug through that pile of sanctimonious design shit, you are forced to minmax everything. And yet despite all that minmax, a perfect build will still net you tens of hours of grind and will end up burning our all sense of fun the game has to offer even when you take the lowest possible time to achieve it. FDev are bad at game design, but refuse to accept it since it benefits them financially.

    • @VindicatorJones
      @VindicatorJones  5 лет назад +1

      And thats exactly what I am trying to make people see... Stop worrying about the min maxing.. and just enjoy flying your favorite ship. This is just a light hearted attempt to say hey, stop worrying about statistics and just enjoy your fav ship. Not meant to be taken too seriously.

    • @mobiuscoreindustries

      @@VindicatorJones I agree I am just saying the game and its design is not helping either. If missions could be handed after completion no matter how long it took it would allow people to play by burst or just have fun and do stuff when they want to instead of having to lock an entire day to a certain mission. And of course rewards have to be increased across the board.

    • @desertxpunk
      @desertxpunk 5 лет назад +1

      Not everyone wants everything handed to them. A lot of us prefer better things to take longer to earn otherwise elite dangerous would just be warframe constantly in a ship. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's objectively bad bud ;)

    • @mobiuscoreindustries
      @mobiuscoreindustries 5 лет назад +2

      @@desertxpunk it's not what I am saying at all! If you do what you said, you just take the problem and displace it to another subcategory of people which is not the intention. All I am saying is that by the way the game works it actively hinders people that have shorter Windows of play while also not rewarding that much more people that have invested a lot of time in the game. I am one of those people who invested many hours, but all I can do is do stuff I was already doing, just doing them faster and with less risk.
      What I am saying here is that missions should have their timer removed entirety, except for mission involving single items or targets which are identified (so assassination missions once you located the target or passager missions with a single special VIP). This is because while many timers are large, many players can not play their mission in their entirety in one session, and as such end up losing the entire thing. But in order to reward those that dedicate more time, I also advise that missions gain tiers of rewards, with the minimal objective paying decently, but not giving any special rewards, and gaining better and better stuff as you go up the tier. You could even see "endless" missions which posses many tiers like massacre mission which would roll better and better rewards at each tier, while also gradually increasing the overall difficulty of the challenge until the player cash in the mission.

    • @desertxpunk
      @desertxpunk 5 лет назад +1

      @@mobiuscoreindustries tiered rewards would be a good idea. I guess I never really thought about the fact I only play when I have enough time. It would make it easier for everyone but I see things moving in a way that would get rid of most risk reward so I'm kinda defensive about my favorite game turning into just another GAS.

      No weapon is useless, it all depends on your style of fighting, and what your trying to do. All weapons have their uses. Some are more effective at one thing, while others at another. And thats why I say stats are useless. Using the weapons that best suit your flying style and ship preference are far more effective than stats. 80% of a ships effectiveness is the pilot flying it.

      @VindicatorJones  5 лет назад

    • @wylie2835
      @wylie2835 5 лет назад +1

      It really depends on how you fly. Beam laser heat and power draw alone, would be dealt with differently depending on how you engage a target.
      It's like tuning the final drive on a car. You want to hit your top speed on the longest straight of the circuit. You don't want to hit the rev limiter. You don't want to be below your top speed.
      But unlike racing where the circuit and best line is fixed, your flying style, how long and how often you fire, changes from person to person.

Your verbal comments are sage. The Star Trek scenes seem contrived. So many RUclipsrs do the Star Trek, Simpson's, and other popular film memes. If it makes you happy to do so as well, I understand. But from the standpoint of Pure Art, please have your videos be mostly You. Perhaps you are trying to garner more subs, that is understandable. Perhaps you need filler, that is understandable. So I've dropped in to play for a bit after not having played for several years now. It's very frustrating, since I can't seem to do well in combat anymore. I remember back before I stopped playing I was taking on Anaconda pirate lords, now I have a Cobra Mk III with best shields and power systems. I don't have good weapons, but that doesn't matter since I can't bring my weapons to bear on target anyway. I get outmaneuvered all the time despite using the thrusters as I've seen in your vids. I can't finish the advanced combat tutorial either without getting shot down by the first guy most of my attempts.
    I've taken a mediocre transport mission to get familiar with the game again and got interdicted on route and the enemy chewed through my shields in seconds.
    What the heck? Has combat gotten that much harder since I've left the game or am I missing something?

      @@Suyamu Oh, okay. Yeah I've never owned a HOTAS so I can't comment on that. If you had told me that you used a controller then I have suggestions based on what worked for me. I know that when my controls weren't laid out intuitively and efficiently then I couldn't handle that darn 2nd combat training mission.
      But in a nutshell, the secret to combat besides being so comfortable with all your controls to the point that it's intuitive muscle-memory, is really only performing one simple trick: FAOFF and boost towards their 6 o'clock and to quickly pitch your nose on target taking advantage of the FAOFF pitch speed all while fine tuning your position with your full array of thrusters (and I mean everything at your disposal) and then FA ON again when you're almost in position, usually followed by some serious thruster work, this will stop you from over shooting and coasting off course. When the enemy gets out of your sights again simply repeat the FAOFF trick. It helps to have a nimble craft.
      But you don't have to use the FAOFF stuff as long as your fundamentals are good. Here's a video I made of that Advanced Combat training mission, notice I never needed chaff or got in real trouble, the trick is to maintain dominant position and stay on target at close range for max damage output. The longer it takes to kill the one guy, the longer his wingman has time to pelt you. You need to quickly turn the 2 against 1 problem into a 1on 1 as fast as possible in order to win. Otherwise the odds are stacked against you when you're outnumbered. In this video I didn't even mess with FAOFF or pips (except for the last few shots when my pulse laser crapped out) to show others you can do this training mission without advanced techniques, just concentrate on the fundamentals of staying on the 6 o'clock of one enemy at a time and stay on the offensive rather than the defensive, especially with the 2nd guy because the longer it takes to kill him the more time his buddy the 3rd guy has to get free shots on you. Also, the way to reduce the time to kill is to keep close so those wimpy shots are made more effective at dispatching the enemy faster: ruclips.net/video/PjWoncaKNiM/видео.html
