She's right, clipping your ends doesn't make your hair grow, but it doesn't make it fall out either. If it's preventing your hair from becoming weak and falling out, in essence it does aid in growing your hair. That's all.
Finally a parent and child who are not in denial about what hair needs to go. Well done mama in educating your child about health over length and an excellent cut to prepare the hair for braids.
My mom was one of those realistic parents too. As a teen I damaged my hair pretty badly by not moisturizing enough and too much heat. She took me to the local Kenneth Shuler and got me my first pixie cut. From that point forward I began to learn how to take better care of my hair.

How often would you recommend to wash your hair? I apply almond oil on my hair shaft and Jamaican black castor oil on my scalp throughout the week, I do perm rod styles in between washes. And I currently wash and deep condition once a week. Is that to much?
I've heard it's best esp with natural hair to wash it at least twice a month and I feel it's best to put not so.msny products in your hair that and a oiding so much cloghing your pores. Also a lot of styling and tension on ANY hair type, later in time can cause damage and hair loss. Putting too much stress on hair follicles causes breakage. For me, after having cancer and chemo as to regrowing my hair I want to wear my hair naturally and staying away from relaxers and such. So far the best moisturizer I've come to use is " Hawaiian silky miracle worker hair spray." Moisture is the cure for natural hair and this keeps my hair moisturized for a week easy and soft. I’m so addicted to your videos, so educational, enduring, I could listen to you all day, love it!!!! I love how you rest your scissors on your pinky finger while your combing hair then you flip your scissors back to cutting position to cut hair, lol, very cool.
That is the best explanation of split ends that I have ever heard! I am going to use that when people tell me split ends don't matter. Love your videos!
It’s so funny I’ve been in Philly 25 years and never heard “off rip” before! My family always said “from the get-go” which I gradually turned into “from the gecko”
My issue is I will get my hair trimmed by my stylist she’ll say you have a lot of split ends then I won’t do anything to my hair but wear some slick backs and a wig. I’ll wash and moisturize my hair and repeat the process. And then in 2 months I’ll go back for a wash and maybe a perm rod set and she’ll say my split ends are bad.... I’m so frustrated
I know you're not asking for my opinion & I'm not a hair stylist lol but I *think* dusting is more geared towards people who already have healthy hair. They don't need as much cut off if their ends are in tact & the hair is even & healthy. Trims & cuts are beneficial for those who have damage or of course if you just want a lil change! 😊
It depends on what is needed. I'm a Cosmetologist too. I got a haircut like two months ago but went back for another Dusting because I was noticing there was still raggedy ends left in my hair. I also recommend my clients who are afraid of haircuts to get dustings or light trims every month until we've caught up to the damaged hair
When I was a teen I did everything damn near to my hair. I had this mess so damaged that after trying to go MJB blonde my hair was MELTING on the curling iron. Whew! 😂 but I’m so glad she has you to help her out.
Her hair was looking better from the time you started working on it!! "From Jump Street" or "From the Git-Go"! I definitely want to see her hair a year later! God bless you for restoring the Crown of the Little Queen!
I HATE trimming my hair because I enjoy it being long (was at my butt but finally got a 4 inch trim a month ago after 2 and a half years of nothing) because it always felt like they cut so much off, but the pantyhose analogy actually has changed my mind about it, and I might get a trim regularly.
This is exactly how I ended up going natural...professional color gone wrong. But in the long run it was the best thing that could’ve happened. My hair is the healthiest it’s ever been and I’ve never looked back
I’m so white that I shit you not, if there is ANY light in a dark room it will reflect off of my skin.... that being said, i honestly have no use for any of this information but my god do I love natural hair! I love learning so much about natural hair from you! You are such a good hair specialist and an even better person! Thank you for posting these videos!

8:13 🗣 (sorry y’all don’t mind me I’m saving this for my own good 😌)
I'm weak at the explanation of "off rip" 😂Im not from Philly but I know what you mean
I know I ain’t the only one moving my shoulders to her background music while watching 😭😭
Poor baby. How brave of her to go on and get it all cut to be on the road to recovery. Good luck Taylor to you on your hair journey to healthy hair.
I’ve heard of stylist ‘dusting’ the hair when trimming. What are your thoughts about this and does this help?
I've seen her do that on other videos.
Just stopping the spilt ends in their tracks before they become too much of a problem :^)
@@astrochick6171 You SOUND like a pro. 😂.
In West Texas say the hair has to be good “from the get go” 😉
When I was a teen I did everything damn near to my hair.
What's everyone's timezone and what are ya'll doing awake? 🤣
1:27am over here in ny and i'm planning to wash my hair in about half an hour lmaoo
It’s 1:29 AM for me, I’m just chilling in bed in the dark

I can't wait to see her hair this summer, she's such a pretty girl!
Where’s the update?
I HATE trimming my hair because I enjoy it being long (was at my butt but finally got a 4 inch trim a month ago after 2 and a half years of nothing) because it always felt like they cut so much off, but the pantyhose analogy actually has changed my mind about it, and I might get a trim regularly.
Lmaoooo we say “off top” in Louisiana but I knew what you meant when you said “off rip”
Atlanta: “off rip, from/off jump, from go”
This is exactly how I ended up going natural...professional color gone wrong. But in the long run it was the best thing that could’ve happened. My hair is the healthiest it’s ever been and I’ve never looked back
In Louisiana we say, “off the top” or “straight from jump”😂
I’m so white that I shit you not, if there is ANY light in a dark room it will reflect off of my skin.... that being said, i honestly have no use for any of this information but my god do I love natural hair! I love learning so much about natural hair from you! You are such a good hair specialist and an even better person! Thank you for posting these videos!
We understand “off rip” in Illinois lol That was a good lead “out the door”
I love your split end reference and how coloring over hair to get back to its original color does not change the health of the hair back. I was standing in front of the tv screaming PREACH PREACHERRR
Preach!!!!
Love her presentations
