😂😂😂 True
True 😂😂😂😂
Miss Lady it was damaged, what are you talking about? She could barely get the comb through her hair. You have to be scissor happy when there’s that much damage. Some people are okay getting the damage taken off all at once but that doesn’t mean she’s happy about it.
Nobody:
Me: So let me go get my hair straighten to see if my end look like that.
I know mine like that and my hair is to my bra strap 😮
Lmaoooooo true
That's why I stretch my hair every 3 months and get a trim. I have retained the most length since I started doing that.
Too bad my mom wont let me get straight hair
If a stylist has to straighten it to cut it, find someone else
I’m a 30yo bald man...dunno why I’m here...I see y’all tho🙌🏽❤️
😂
😂😂
Ok🤣
I love this lol
😂😂👋🏽
My mouth dropped . she cut a whole year off her head ! Damn lemme get my ends trimmed asap before i lose a years worth!
Pretty Water That happened to me last year 🥺 Still regretting not doing regular trims back then
She cut too much.
That's the perfect way to look at it.
But she didn’t, growth is at the roots, she cut off a years worth of ends that never shoulda stayed on her head. But i agree. Cutting is how it grows. Her hair is prob close to the length it was when cut three months later.
Who ever bleached her ends was in VIOLATION🤦🏾♀️ just murdered her hair. Good thing it was only the ends
No amount of deep conditioning or protein treatments was gonna "revitalize" those fried ends. The people on here saying "she cut too much" or "regular trims aren't necessary" are the main ones holding on to long, stringy, uneven, damaged hair just for length. Just let it go sis! P.S. regular trims don't mean you're getting inches off each time. I straighten and trim my hair every 3 months and it's much longer each time.
Jasmine Murphy 💯💯💯💯💯
Sometimes it seems like too much but split ends will continue of the strand of hair and the person's hair will be in that much worse shape
Trims are necessary. When you don’t get your hair trimmed you end up having to get it cut.
Some people don't need regular trims... It just depends
I agree but straightening your hair every 3 months is a lot I would recommend everyone to cut their hair went it is dripping wet or just blow dried
Who else loves that blend of color in her hair 💯😍
❤
Me!! If i get this color id definetly show the stylist this hair as an example ❤
I do❤
Me
It is beautiful but also the reason her ends are like that. Bleaching is a harsh treatment.
I'll be so happy when we all FINALLY understand split/damaged ends DOES NOT EQUAL LENGTH so she didnt lose length with the haircut. A stylist told me once that she was only going to cut SOME OF MY DAMAGED ENDS when I messed my hair up with color... No cut off what does not belong!!!!
We take the most risk in hair style including color but have the least experience when it comes to actually maintaining health and length and for some crazy reason we love to hold on to damage...Our hair is the most beautiful and we need to become consistent in caring for it properly...its starts with those ends!!!
God bless this stylist and all the others who KNOW AND DOES what it takes to get hair back on the right track when we mess our hair up...
I’d rather have short healthy hair then long damaged hair
I have had short healthy hair, then long hair. It’s not really that bad of a transition. And you can always cut off the damaged part later if you don’t like it.
in reality we all do but boy does it hurt to see that length go when we neglect our trims lol
Her hair wasn't damaged. Most people have split ends, and that doesn't mean their hair is damaged. It's a lie stylists sell.👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
@@katizz988 split ends can split up the hair shaft if you go too long without cutting it off. thats what causes breakage, & dry and damaged hair.
Hello! 🤓
I think My Heart stoped beating for 3 seconds When She started cutting. This is why i clip My ends as often as i can. To eliminate the posibility of à heart attacks
😂
😂😂😂
😂😂
Me too
Same! Haha
When you have a hard time passing the ends of your hair with the blow dryer, that's when you know it's time to get a trim.
Aww man😞
But that’s like a lot of my ends I alreadt feel bald headed lol😭
Idk about that. Type 4 hair coils from root to tip. So the ends will be the curliest/poofiest part. Snagging on the blow dryer may not be a big issue, but her ends puffing back up after the flat iron was a sign. But then again, she only gave one pass with the iron, so..... I can't call it. I figure the girl knew if her ends were damaged. She wouldn't have agreed to the cut otherwise.
@@ocky88 you have a strong point about the hair type and texture. Yet and still, the healthy hair got silky after one pass, while the damaged part remained coarse and wiry. There's no fixing that, not even a relaxer can. I suspect that each hair was split in several places. Maybe the hairdresser can show the damage under a magnifying glass to prove to these critics that she's not scissor happy. At the end of the day she did what her client asked her to do and the client seemed pleased.
My ends is hard to get through with the dryer😞
We all know them ends are bad when we can’t get a comb through them
Right! They just want to tangle on up and rob us of our length. Color is the worse, as are relaxers when they are not properly maintained and cared for on a regular basis.
Oh...hi there. What's good? 👀
I just come to the comments to see the arguments about how much needed to be cut off 🤣🤣🤣
Lol. Well, welcome. You’re in the right place 🤣
Same!😂😭
I think we all do. It wouldn't be the same if there were no comments... LOL😂🤣
Me too girl 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me too🤔😄😀😂😂
I don’t care what y’all say, her hair looks 50 million times better since cutting off all that damaged hair!! It looks healthy now. Health is more important than length ladies. You’re wondering why you’re having breakage because you won’t get regular trims. This looks bomb as usual Janay!
Trimming is the way to go! Forget length, we need full, lush, well moisturized hair that is what it is about
Pp TSA àp
Treatments get your hair healthy you don’t have to cut it all the time. But in her case she had too!
Right! And it will grow back!!!
It seems you have knowledge about haircare...
How can I get my hair look voluminous... Is it possible to increase thickness of my hair..??
Great job as usual.Scissors are our friends ladies. Those ends were dead....They were DEADT.Needed to be buried.Stand up healthy hair warriors!!!!
Stacee M I am dead 💀😂😂😂😂😂
But you are right though.... and they were crispy too....

Quality > quantity always!
If you’re using a straightener and you have to stop to comb out the bottom part of the hair that’s a problem. She couldn’t even blow dry out her hair properly due to her raggedy ends. 🤦🏽♀️ short hair is not the end of the world.
Yes it is
@@jessicab331 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Took the words right out of my mouth. Although, I did cut all my hair off. Colored it and didn't maintain it properly 😭😭

I commend her for allowing you to cut them. Often times women are reluctant to cut of damaged ends. Beautiful results as usual 😁👍🏽
I'm surprised the hair grows through all that damage ends 🙄
Yeah reluctant and then wind up with a full head of damaged hair split ends travel frfr
@@daughterofzion14 my hair is like that. It grows through the damage 😩
My reluctance comes from my hair refuses to grow passed barely making contact with collarbone, even with healthy ends.
Healthoverlength I haven’t had my hair trimmed in a very long time the last time I wanted a trim the girl took off 12 inches so I’m very reluctant for anyone to trim my hair
Healthy hair,over length any day😁😍
Hill Banx you would rather have damaged long hair than short healthy hair?
All day!
They say better to be healthy and short than long and damage! Trim your hair as often as you can and lots of hair masques, hot oil treatments, deep conditioner etc. I do my own hair
@@hdeniro1106 I agree.
Right!
Even after the cut the client still had a decent length of hair. The ends just had to go. Plain and simple. For folks arguing about it you're the one to keep that kryptonite hair saying you got length. When in reality your hair looks bad. Its lengthy but it doesn't look good cause those ends are thin and see through. Cut them off. It will only benefit you in the long run.
I was an assistant at 1 of the busiest hair salons here in Atlanta back when I was in college and despite all the tons of heads I washed, blow-dried, etc ..... I’ve never seen ends that raggedy! Man! That’s crazy! Her ends had’nt been clipped in ages! I suspect not keeping her hair moisturized with that color is what broke it off like that. She still has a beautiful, course head of hair.
Seems like it was all the colored ends that were damaged and brittle. Good decision to do so.
Yea that's what I noticed too. It was dried out from the color.
Color doesn't damage your hair. Not
Properly taking care of it like deep condition etc. Is what caused the damage
@@akiadturner color is capable of damaging hair. Just like straightening your hair can. Its russian roulette. You can have perfectly healthy hair and havent ised heat in 3 years then the first time you do, you get heat damage. Its never guaranteed no matter how much precaution you used. It is no different for color
That's why I'm so scared to color my hair even though I want to so bad. My hair is very healthy and I don't want to messed that up. I haven't flat ironed my hair since 2016. I'm more focused on the health of my hair.
Tiffany Mondaine I have naturally curly hair that’s about 3c. And I have blonde in A LOT of my hair. The key is to go to someone who knows your type of hair, good products, and wearing it natural a lot. Heat and color are a bad combo. But good hair masks, conditioners, and heat protectant is necessary.

That blonde - light color had her ends damaged - The rest of the hair was healthy- You REALLY have to take care of your hair with color - Especially blondes - I learned the hard way

I dyed my hair after having my baby. My hair severely damaged. I wanted something different and boy didnt I get it. Hair fried and layed to the side. I need my hair cut like that or maybe more.
After dying mine I let it go and it's badly damaged.
I was about to say...she just cut off the colored ends which was severely dry and damaged.

When the video first started I thought to myself " Oh her hair is beautiful". As the video progressed I realiZed that the colored ends were gonna have to be cut. I wasn't surprised by that at all. The client seemed to be more than ok with letting it go, which made this even better. By the end of the video I thought to myself "Her hair is beautiful"......
So glad the client wasn’t scared to let that go 🤢 the outcome was amazing ! You did your thing janay 👏👏🖤

If y’all didn’t notice, she was having a hard time just combing through the hair with those bad ends. She’s a trained stylist, just think of what the client was going through when she was doing her own hair. Trims make it SO much easier to style your own hair. Regularly trimming is something I do every 2 months or so. It’s just hair y’all
Every 4-6 months is better.
@@yanco1279 Exactly. Trimming every two months, you would never retain length. You would just be constantly cutting off the new growth. Every 4 to 6 mos seems more reasonable.
@@dimpledintrovert nah, for really fine hair it needs to be done constantly, mine every 3 months, that way I just need to cut milimeters instead of inches.
blackvelvetcake that’s assuming you want length. If you have a short cut you need to go every two months or so to keep it in shape.
Sha-Meese Greene When I am old and gray and I come out of my sisterslocs-back to loose natural hair-I can assure you, I will be getting my hair trimmed. I was a loose natural for over 6 years prior to locking and my hair was BSL but the ends loved to tangle. My ends are super coily. I discovered that trimming your ends DOES make your natural hair easier to manage-Period. ❤️
I think ppl are frazzled because she went in so hard on her ends. My jaw dropped too on those first few cuts. I was like damnnnn! 🥴 But in honesty she needed the cut, I'm sure she agreed to let go whatever wasn't healthy, you don't know the whole story, & Janay is professional. ,😘
It turned out beautiful! I was shocked at how damaged her hair was after it was flat ironed. However, it will grow back!
Love how she does such small sections while flat ironing so she only has to do one pass instead of multiple.
That's what I was just thinking as I saw ur comment.
Because her hair is super thick it has to be done a little at a time divided into sections
@@lethaturner9498 I'm fully aware, I was saying that I've seem stylist on here that do small sections but still do multiple passes on a small section of hair.
She probably has it on a very high heat and is going slow. This video is sped up so it looks like she is going fast but she is probably going slow.
It looks fantastic she has lovely hair quality and o love the colour suites her!👌🏽😉
Wen ur ends b like that it kinda make the blow dry process a lil difficult n my opinion. Wen my hair was damaged it seem like Everytime a section was blow dried my hair wud tangle Bak up like it never been detangled.
I always know I haven't had a good trim in a while when my hair gets super difficult to detangle. Freshly trimmed hair feels so much better.
Ikr!! I would have to cut my ends before even getting to flat iron it because it was just that bad
Facts
I don't have the eye for this I just figured she didn't flatiron her ends right
Sooo what ur sayin is...I need a trim again 😂
I bet she won’t let her ends get that bad again!!! You can tell she was hurt by how short it was afterwards but at least it’s healthy!! Learn from this sis💁🏽♀️
That cut was necessary, hair shouldn’t mat up like that after being straightened. I’m glad she let those ends go, I’m sure her hair grew back fast and longer.
Her hair will probably be back to that length in like 3-4 months so it’s cool and the outcome was 🔥
Exactly!
Yes. People on here making mountains out of mole hills about the cut and it isn’t even their hair.
That’s a while, she could of grew instead of gained back length she already had
Jadyn split ends will damage the entire shaft of hair if not trimmed. The splits move up the hair shaft and cause major breakage and unevenness. If she had left them longer, she’d have to trim way more than she did in this video
What I’m saying is she should of been trimmed her hair so she wouldn’t of had to cut off all that length
I remember I used to hang on to my damaged ends but I made the decision to cut them off and my hair has been so healthy & just over all looks better now , best decision I’ve ever made. Her hair looks so full of life after 👌🏼
I never seen ends like that in my life 😢!! People be so focused on length and not health ... unfortunately I would take short health hair over long unhealthy hair any day !!!! She needs to dye her hair her black and keep up with her hair maintenance btw her hair looked amazing in the end .
Whew, her curls were hiding the devil🤣 Am I the only one that trims natural hair in its curly state? I don't blow dry or use heat on my hair because it's already thin so I neeeed my curls..lol. Her hair is beautiful & that color combo is everything😍
I trim in its curly state too! That’s why I only do it twice a year to keep my hair away from heat
Big difference between split and dry ends... She didn't need to cut that much hair. The girl is clearly natural and hadn't used heat for a while. Finally got it straightened out and probably just wanted it cut short.
@@SheraLawton I agree
@@SheraLawton It was dry AND split ends. Y’all not being able to tell the difference is the real issue here. You’re most likely not a professional hairstylist, so how are you going to say what should and shouldn’t have been cut?
You can never TRULY see your split ends unless you're hair is at least blow dried. Straight hair is better but at least blow dried
This the reason why I won't dye my hair..But the Stylist did a awesome job😊

What people don’t understand is that holding onto ragged ends causes you to lose length thru breakage & damage. If she’d been getting regular trims, she wouldn’t have needed to get so much length removed to fix that mess.
I'm sure she gets trims it's that color that damaged her ends

Just Coke no I’m a relatively new stylist but today I left this girl’s dry kinky ends on and tried to go over it with an iron for the curl. Those ends said bye Felicia and and frizzed back up in minutes. I googled what went wrong. You actually have to cut them off for a silk press because they don’t cooperate. Now I know she wasn’t going to go for that trim but I should have offered it and let her know if she didn’t let me then no iron in the world was going to get it together. I did the daughter and another stylist did the mother. Same dead ends. Same result.
I love watching Janay do hair. I find it so relaxing. As always, she did an amazing job on this lady’s hair. It turned out beautiful, so shiny and smooth. I love the color as well.
Her hair looks much healthier now that the ends have been cut off. Sometimes, you gotta do a big chop to start over and regrow a healthier set of hair.

Good job Janay!
All these hair stylists in the comments. Everyone’s hair isn’t the same. I trim my hair every 6-8 weeks. I have split ends all the time even with maintenance. Her hair looks amazing after the trim. I have grown my hair to below my bra band three times in ten years. Everyone’s hair growth rate is different. My hair grows nearly a full inch a month. Smh. Ppl are so crazy. The hair will grow back. Look how much damn hair she has!! 🤦🏽♀️
Boy, I wish my hair would grow an inch every month. I'm lucky to get 3 - 4 inches per year.
Is there anything in particular that’s causing split ends? I rarely use heat and I don’t use heat at all during the summer. That helped my ends at lot. The less heat I use the less often I need a trim. I straighten my hair every now and then.
La Original I never use heat! My hair is just very dry. It’s high porosity so it just has a tendency to be dry. I do what I can to mitigate that. Even when I was relaxed it was the same way. I actually trimmed my hair every 5-6 weeks then and it was still long and healthy. I stopped getting a relaxer bc my hair wouldn’t straighten anymore. I was even getting a super. I have super resistant hair.
Ellie Bellie I find that it grows even faster when I exercise more...more blood flow...
La Original split ends are natural dive it’s the oldest part of your hair. It gets drier and are more fragile. Even frizz is natural unfortunately 😩
I still enjoy watching this video. I wonder how her hair is now.
Her hair is beautiful, healthy and still quite long. With consistency, her hair will be growing in no time!

I love seeing the regrowth of hair after hair dye - looks like she has a good 3 to 4 inches since coloring . Once straightened you can see the different stages of her coloring the hair. From the roots , to the darker red to the earliest dye of the most faded. The faded parts were definitely fried and unfortunately needed to go because if recolored they certainly would be even more damaged. 😪

Videos like this are sooo satisfying
The alternative to not cutting... keeping them and have dry brittle hair that won't retain length. ✂️ 💇♀️ baby ✂️
This was satisfying to watch. The only thing that bothered me was that she didn’t have a technique to cut the hair. She was just chopping all the ends with no shape to the hair. Idk maybe it’s just me.
She cut off the damage and then blended everything. She wasn’t chopping at anything
If she were chopping her hair off, she would’ve gotten scissor happy and messed her hair up.
I agree. With the cutting. From the angle that was caught the perimeter of the cut was uneven. The nap area was over directed. It works for her styling technique of loose curling and combing out though. Her clients seems to love it.
Right. That is what I was saying. I knew I could not have been the only one that recognized that. People are saying “well they was dead ends. The stylist was doing her job” but I was under the impression that you try to make the hair as even as possible when trimming.
It did seem add Reckless huh? Like she just saw the lighter color and just chopped It Off. She looks so reckless
I know you were ecstatic when she gave you the go to get rid of every bit of that mess lol you killed it, per usual 🥰
Wish this stylist was here in Florida. My ends died last year. They remind me of my broom. Just hard to find a stylist that doesn't just cut weave😑
Do what I do. I quit relaxing due to covid-19 and went back pressing my hair. Every week I snip off half an inch. Then when my hair healthy in about a month I trim one inch. Now all the perm is gone got my curls back. My hair like hers here and it's to top of my shoulders. Before so damaged and broken.
Let me know I’ll be starting to travel soon!
@@jage5256 My hair is natural. I have to get a blowout to get a trim.
wow! she really has beautiful and healthy hair. that cut was SO needed and looks great. ✨
I'm sure that her hair is really going to grow good after that at first I was like omg ur scissor happy lol
You could see that it was damaged at the ends. Don´t worry it will grow back. It looks gorgeous and healthy now the hairdresser did a good job.
kallahari this is Nikki. Anderson my mother does my hair
I remember I had to get a drastic cut like this back five years ago.I had color on my ends and something went wrong so then I got a weave hoping that it will grow out and that also didn’t help because when I took that we’ve all my ends were matted like this young ladies was as well. However it was the best decision of my life because my hair is now in the middle of my back 16 inches long I have no regrets and I stay on top of my trims regularly
Janay does a FANTASTIC job and she cares about the health of hair soooo important ANNND she is excellent with her shears!! I would drive to wherever she is to get my head blessed by her 😆
I rarely get trims and my hair is pretty strong and almost mid back. Castor oil and aloe Vera on the ends works wonders 👍
Yeah but this lady looked like she had bleached that part of her hair too. Shit was fried
Do you mix them? And do you use the plant, store bout gel or store bout juice?
@@rosedemure5072 I mix them, I just use some aloe gel that I find at Sprouts or whole foods.
t briggs cool! Thanks for responding😉🙌🏽
Hope she asked for that good chop looks lovely but ... how many times I’ve sat with that apron on hating what’s happening to me wig .. I trim my own hair majority of the time xx
For the “naysayers,” about this cut. What Janay doesn’t include in her summary is that she no doubt spoke with her client and told her in order to achieve the healthiest starting point to grow her hair out, if that is her choice, she needed to have her over processed dead ends completely remove and move forward from there. She did a fine job.
End results still looks stunning, trust the stylist💇♀️2021 in the house🇿🇦
That cut traumatized me 😳 i know its better in the long run but oooh boy😟
Wow those ends were crispy af. Her hair is so beautiful in the end.
I am not sure if this works to it doesn't matter if to get
clariola it was the color on the end
Crispy af 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know that health over length is more imperative but that chop still had me shook 😊😊😊
Sometimes they can do an inch at a time and give your hair time to grow back instead of giving them a haircut
I just was tripping off how heavy handed she was on the blow drying and the cut like dang did some1 piss you off b4 you got to her. Lmao
Powerful WomanOfGod she knows what she’s doing
Too bad it’s not y’all hair or head 🙃
I would’ve been a lil on the upset side too. That was alot
Beautiful results, her hair looks so healthy after the trimming 💕
This was so satisfying. Dont be afraid to get rid of split ends. Quality is always better than quantity!!! Looks soooo good!
Rather have short healthy hair than long damaged hair any day.. Looks so much better

Did I just see 5-6 inches fall to the ground😱? Yikes!! Her hair looked healthy and thick afterwards but Dang!
No it looked like 3 to 4
I would never go to this stylist. My hair is long and my beautician would never cut off all that hair. She would give me an option to gradually cut off if needed. This stylist is a hater 🤣
nahedah hakim if you hair is dead it needs to be cut off...
@@miaverboom4560 hair is already dead. I think you mean damaged
@Clodia F yea I think I commented something alluding to that somewhere
Cutting dead ends is like hair p0rnnnn lol next time can you do the cut/trims at regular speed? 🥺 You can speed everything else up but I love to watch split ends getting cut lol
Me too!
