    DEAR God why don't they sell in USA? The world complains about large american cars but international car companies want us to buy them for big bucks, we cant get subcompact cars here anymore... the only thing i want is a practical smart little hatchback... none.

      It is such a shame that small cars like this just don't exist in the USA! I guess a combination of consumer habits and different road styles just mean that cars like this won't sell in the required numbers 😭

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  6 месяцев назад +8

      It's definitely better than the Suzuki Swift (nicer interior), but it's a very different proposition to the Yaris which is a sturdy hybrid. The i20 is a car you can have more fun in, but won't be as economical.

      A month ago I test drove the latest i20 in this colour - Lucid Lime Metallic.
      Driving around the centre of Bradford it certainly felt I was making a statement.
      Decided to go with the mid-spec Premium manual which has just about everything you would want.
      But chickened out when it came to the colour.
      Decided on the Meta Blue Pearl which is actually terrific - the body creases and different sunlight conditions giving it a constantly changing multi-hue effect.

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  6 месяцев назад +1

      The lime colour is excellent. It seems that since I filmed the video, Hyundai have tweaked the engine options available and removed the 120 PS engine, as it used to be an option on the configurator. Shame that there seem to have been issues with the 48V MHEV system, as it did make the car quite punchy to drive!

    After having this car for just over 6 months now, (pre-facelift version), I do have a couple of niggles…
    1) The DCT gearbox can be quite hesitant at times, especially when trying to pull away from a junction quickly. I know it’s a quirk of all DCT’s but there’s been a couple of hair raising moments in this when the car has taken a second or two to decide what gear it wants to be in. I’d much prefer a normal torque converter auto transmission rather than a DCT. But that’s just personal preference.
    2) The basic stereo system whilst sounds decent enough upfront, is non existent in the back. I don’t even know why they’ve bothered putting speakers in the rear as hardly any noise comes out of them. Even changing the position of the speakers makes no difference. I only noticed this when I had rear passengers in the back and they asked for the radio to be turned up as they couldn’t hear anything!
    3) The Infotainment system, whilst on the whole is brilliant for this class of car, can be quite sluggish at times when pressing the screen. Can sometimes take 2 or 3 seconds to catch up. Even after a recent software update it’s no better. Apple CarPlay works fine though. Just a shame it’s not wireless on the top end models with the bigger screens, yet in the 8” screen it is?! Go figure!
    Overall I’m still happy with it. It’s economical, nippy when it gets going and has more than enough space for your day to day needs. Seats are reasonably comfy and it had no issues keeping up with motorway speeds with car full to London and back to the North East. Would I recommend it? Yes I would… but it will be interesting to see how the new MG3 compares to this when that comes out, especially with the hybrid engine that the MG will have for much cheaper than the i20 is.

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  6 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting insight from a longer-term owner!
      With the DCT quirk, is it possibly the case that it takes off a little quicker if you stomp your foot down? It is frustrating that DCTs are still not quite as good at reading the road ahead as a human instinctively would be!
      We've found the Bose Stereo system to be pretty decent, though that is only standard fitment on the Ultimate specification, so Advance and Premium may well be lacking in punch?
      Internal car Infotainment is a difficult thing to get right - to the point where some manufacturers should probably not bother with further investment as people tend to just plug their phones in if they have the option to do so. Unfortunately, the reality is that in-car systems will never feel quite as smooth or natural to use as a mobile phone does. Some tech-heavy manufacturers, like BYD and Tesla are close, though.
      We are also interested to see what the MG3 will be like when the new model comes out, as it should be a bit of a unicorn in this segment!

      @@BuckleUpShow awesome you tried both and came up with conclusion right ? Review say skoda had bigger back seat space or are they the same ?
      Second question would you pick a jazz/fit hybrid or i20 for same price ?

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  2 месяца назад +1

      The Skoda does have a bigger back seat, but they're both still fairly small hatchbacks so if back seat space is a priority I would suggest looking at a different segment of car.
      When you say for the same price, do you mean in both cases a brand new car? The current Jazz is excellent, very intelligently packaged and has heaps of equipment on it. The downsides are the dowdy image and the price but if I could have the Jazz for what the i20 cost I would pick Jazz every time.

      The Honda is a lot more money, but it's very intelligently designed, this is much more conventional. One being better than the other is probably a matter of priorities or taste. What are you looking for in a car?

      Potentially, but it's not offered - instead, you get a tyre inflation kit.

    The fact they have discontinued the i20n shows that this company has no interest in their customers. I'm putting my money elsewhere

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  6 месяцев назад

      They do have interest in their customers. Unfortunately though, to continue existing as a company they have to hit certain emissions and fleet BEV targets, necessitating the axing of some of the more polluting models. It is a crying shame, but an important step as we move towards greener transportation. The fact that Hyundai have developed the Ioniq 5 N also would heavily suggest they do have an interest in their customers 😊

      @@BuckleUpShow It's exactly the same emissions everybody else has to live up to. They are only doing this to make more money and they don't care about customers. What greener transportation? Hopefully you are not suggesting EV's are greener now that every serious study shows the opposite. That Ioniq 5 SUV is just one big ugly joke. It's a big heavy kids toy pretending to be a real car 🤡

      Please list ‘everybody else’ selling a hot hatchback in this size class of car. We’ll give you a clue, if you include the stipulation of a manual gearbox, the list halves and the price doubles.
      The rest of your comment isn’t even worth responding to and shows your complete lack of understanding, and knowledge about the industry, or indeed, cars in general.

      @@BuckleUpShow My comment is about this brand specifically. Not a list of who else is abandoning their costumers. You wrote you didn't want to comment about the rest but then proceeded commenting about it anyway. Volvo has made a thorough study which shows how much pollution is generated from developing Lithium batteries for cars. This study shows you have to drive about 80.000 miles before it is break even compared to a petrol powered car. Just because you move emission of co2 from one place to another doesn't make it go way. Then you should consider how batteries are disposed of in countries like China and India and what that is doing to the climate. Then you have to take into consideration that only half of the electricity used for charging EV's comes from green energy world wide. You can also take into consideration that carbon dioxide generated from private cars world wide is about 6.5 % a year compared to industry which is about 70 %

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  6 месяцев назад +1

      We’ve read the same reports as you. As you admit, the report shows that over the lifetime of a vehicle, it has lower emissions. That is unless you expect to scrap your car at 80,000 miles?
      Auto manufacturing plants are much greener than they used to be. It’s a journey that takes time. We’ve only been making proper EVs since 2010 and look at how far they’ve come. I don’t suppose the petrol cars of 1900 were particularly great, but they’ve enjoyed 125 years of refinement since then. We live in the North East of England where all our electricity is very green.
      You can choose to find problems if that’s your prerogative. It sounds like you’ve never driven an EV for an extended amount of time and you’ve got all your ideas from the Daily Mail.
