I`ve had mine for a couple of weeks now and its great. I took it on a 140 mile round trip last week and it gave me 62.8mpg on mixed local, A,B , dual carriageway and motorway . People say about the back seat, this never worried me as I cannot remember the last time I lowered the back seat. Personally I love the looks, but that is always just a personal opinion. One thing I would recommend before considering is getting into the car and making sure you can get a comfortable driving position as the steering wheel is not reach adjusting, just height.
Just bought one absolutely brilliant car and I was looking around the other cars. I did find them rather boring to drive even though they were economical. This is something you can live with every day and have good fun and still be economical. Don’t forget the seven years warranty as well, which is also brilliant.
They're great little things! Before now the class leader was the i20 due to how well it drove and the tech on offer. This has considerably more power, doesn't drive quite as well, but is a better package overall.

While the likes of Toyota and competitors are faffing around competing to build what's most profitable for them and leaving consumers with no other choice from overpriced hatches/crossovers with needless luxury trims, SAIC (MG) and other Chinese EVs and hybrids are finding ample room left in the vacuum of what was the entry level segment. Call that market failure or commupance.
Renault/Dacia seem to the only European brands paying attention, still offer very competitive pricing. The extra power in the MG3 over the Clio would still probably sway us though
The favourite buttons are great. We'd still prefer proper climate controls though! We liked the styling of the previous model, but this looks a lot more modern than that did.

You have avoided the elephant in the room..On recent reliabilty surveys MG have come bottom by quite a margin, also on coughing up for repairs..Making even Citroen seem well engineered by comparison..The older they get the more this will get round and resale values will plummet..Mind you I guess that is sadly in keeping with the MG tradition of badly executed innovation..
@@BuckleUpShow Don't you think it important to point out the shocking reliability of the brand's previous efforts and also the fact they are the most reluctant to pay out on claims by a wide margin ?..Any savvy investor will tell you the best guide you have is a company's past performance, yet you choose to ignore it..Tell me straight would you expect a new Toyota model to have better reliablity going forward than a new Citroen, say ?...
No, because as mentioned, this is a brand new car with entirely new underpinnings. We would only talk about reliability in a used car test. Making assumptions doesn’t help anyone. Would be interested to know what you drive?
@@BuckleUpShow How many models have Citroen launched with new underpinnings but the leopard is still unwilling to change it's spots.Making assumptions that Germany would turn on Russia since we were proving a tough nut to crack would certainly have helped Stalin, wouldn't you agree ?..After all, looking at their track record, they did have a certain way of dealing with Commies..Unlike you,who seem to have a blind spot when it comes to the quality and service you get when dealing with the Commie bloc..I noticed a deafening silence when it came to how badly they honour their warranty, which does not depend xhanges of underpinnings..I naturally drive a Kia Stonic..Made by people who know how to stand up to Commies, not sugar coat their products..The most reliable car I ever owned was an Hyundai i30 and being 70 have had many makes..A Peugeot being the worst..
@@BuckleUpShow You know I've actually test driven the MG3 and the worst thing was the autobox tendency to coast downhill when you lift off, like cheap boxes of old..Saving fuel just fine on the motorway but not on a windy B road when you're using the brakes quite enough already or a sheep wanders out and you're braking from ten miles an hour more than you planned..The fact that a guy in the showroom was having a heated row over his MG4 still not being fixed didn't help either !
The adjective "ridiculous" was uttered only once in the video, at 16:29 - when stating that the car is ridiculous value for money. This is correct to the definition in the context of absurdity: the MG3's value proposition is absurdly good. The adverb "ridiculously" was used twice, firstly at 04:08 and secondly at 14:33, in line with the definition of it causing surprise or disbelief: the seats are surprisingly comfortable and the Toyota Yaris has a powertrain so efficient it can cause disbelief, respectively. I think it's pretty clear from the video that the definition of the word ridiculous (which, incidentally, was only used once) is understood, and its use can be fully justified. It's also evident from the video that the car is not bad at all; in fact it's fair to say the review is overwhelmingly positive.
If you want to throw dictionary links around, we're happy to do the same: OED clearly mention absurd. www.oed.com/search/dictionary/?scope=Entries&q=ridiculous We also note you completely ignoring the point about the word ridiculous only being used once, and ridiculously used twice. For your convenience, you can also see that word was used correctly here: www.oed.com/search/dictionary/?scope=Entries&q=ridiculously

@@BuckleUpShow if you can show if the seat is adjustable for height that would be great. I looked at the new swift last week and sat in the passenger seat first, took seconds to see if the seat was high enough. It wasn’t.
Then it sounds like it’s probably worth you doing the same at an MG dealership. I’m not sure how we’re supposed to know if the seat would be high enough for your parents?
Can’t get over the weird styling. Looks old fashioned and disjointed all round. I saw a white one parked up recently and thought it was an old Hyundai! I had one of the early MG3’s back in 2015 and although it was quite agricultural it lasted 7 years, 120k miles and handled really well on the back roads. It had everything you needed for £7k brand new! A lot of the tech in modern cars is just gimmicky and adds to the price. They should have done a turbo version without the modern tech for £12k, would have sold like hot cakes. A lot of people just want a basic car, this is way overpriced for a Chinese super mini
Looks are subjective but we think this looks quite good. On price, I’m not sure the last time you looked at new car prices, but you can’t buy a new car for less than £15k nowadays. This starts at £18.5k with nearly 200hp and a hybrid powertrain. That’s insane value for money. There is a petrol only version coming soon which will be even cheaper.
@@BuckleUpShow The Hybrid system ran out of puff under sustained acceleration, the single fold rear seat is a functionality fail and the other is subjective... the car looks like puffer fish to me. It does come off as a bit amateurish / not quite finished especially at the asking prices in Australia.
If you think something with 194 PS runs out of puff under sustained acceleration we'd encourage you to drive any of this car's closest rivals, most of which have only 100 PS. The lack of split folding rear seats is a minor inconvenience, but it's rare that most people actually need to be able to carry something that big as well as an additional passenger. I heard that split seat is to be available soon.
Does it have wireless CarPlay?
No, both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require you to plug your phone in. This does mean your phone is kept charged, though!
@ I’ve just ordered one and I was informed you don’t have to plug it in to access it. I will have to check with the dealership. It’s not an issue, but very misleading if I’ve being given the wrong information.
It may have changed, but the test car I had (and reporting online) does not mention it being wireless
I have bluetooth on mine, don't know why everyone keeps saying this.
Bluetooth audio streaming and handsfree calling is not the same thing as wireless Apple CarPlay
Split opinions on this car by the sounds. Bit weird going back to “wing mirrors” not seen them since black n white days 😮
Wing mirrors is the common usage way of referring to them
Am I wrong to think SAIC's letting the British team more control over the design process of MG? Seems the 3's truly designed for European tastes.
The MG design studio is in London
Someone's finally explained 'favourite' buttons - well done!
I just wish I liked the styling, I actually prefer the looks of the previous model.

This is a brand new model, it is impossible to speak with authority on its reliability record as it does not yet have one

You keep saying "ridiculous". WHY?. Do you know what the word means?. Is the car that bad?

This comment is ridiculous
How come all the seats are tested except the passenger seat ! All reviewers ignore the passenger seat!
The front passenger seat is broadly the same as the drivers seat in most cars
@@BuckleUpShow Im looking to buy a new car and it’s amazing many don’t come with passenger seat adjustment. I have parents aged 80 so getting in and out must be considered.
Well I’m not sure we’d be able to tell you if your parents would be fine or not as that seems like quite a specific use case
Thanks for a distracting review #JasperThighAppreciationSociety
Which thigh is your favourite, left or right?
@@BuckleUpShow Oh that would need further exposure to make an informed decision.
I drove one, it was terrible
How come?
What is pricing like in Australia?
