    Razor has an acrylic top with vents now after hearing the concerns shared here and looking into it a bit, as well as a lot more substrate, and I also moved the heating element pad to the side of the tank. He's doing great!

      they also dont need heat mats btw, like that other guy said if you are comfortable, they should be. I think even at the side of the tank It's possible if they started molting there and sat through a super long molt, It's possible it could harm them/cook them to death. Most experienced keepers i know say to use a space heater if your enclosure room is getting super cold, like sub 60F. Also you shouldn't handle them or feed them that soon after molting, should leave em alone for 7-10 days, and always when handling do it close to the ground as any spider can possibly bolt at any time, and a fall from that height could easily explode their little water balloon abdomens. And lastly you should look into cross-ventiliation, If you have a buddy with a glass bit you can borrow, you can drill in a bunch of venting which is always recommended, you can never have enough venting
      Sorry to rant, beautiful spider, just want to make sure nothing bad happens to her!

    I got my first tarantulas a month or so ago, like you I never imagined I'd have some as pets, but these are proper little slings. B hamorii is literally about 1 cm leg span, and they're actually quite cute. Looking forward to them being a bit bigger but wanted to grow them from babbies for some reason.

    1:23 You've probably figured this out by now as this was 3 years ago, but for new viewers who stumble across this - given the size and colour, at this point the spider is no longer a sling - it's a juvenile!

    • @AdamCarsonX
      @AdamCarsonX  Год назад +1

      That's exciting! Unfortunately Razor died immediately after one of his molts, apparently called a failed molt. Not sure what happened, but the pet store said it just happens sometimes. I have a Razor 2.0 though that I've had for almost two years, and it's quite large in comparison and has grown notably since then. He's an escape artist and easy to handle too though I only ever hold him every several months. Happy for you!

    Word of advice, please do not handle your tarantula up that high, if it was to fall then it would probably be fatal by rupturing its delicate abdomen, please handle responsibly by not having her more than a few inches above a surface, you’ll thank me for this believe me, as for her enclosure you’ve made a really nice habitat there 👍
