  • Quite a few folks have asked for an SOTC (state of the collection) video but I’d been putting it off because my channel isn’t really wristwatch focused, but I thought it’d be interesting to share my watches and the STORY of each one.

I love watches, especially mechanical watches because of what they represent, both literally (design, engineering, meticulous manufacturing, horological history), and figuratively - how we use them to tell the time and use any complications they have, but how they need us - our movement throughout the day - to keep the wound.
Since I use timepieces to mark special moments in time - whether they’re milestones, life changes, or paying homage to people, there’s a meaningful story behind each watch that I own.
I’d love to know: what watch do you have that’s meaningful to you?

To share such a painful detail about your dad while honoring him with a beautiful object imbued with personal meaning was truly moving. Wishing you the best in all your endeavors. May your watch collection grow, bringing with it more happy memories

So nice to see a SOTC from someone that's interested in watches but isn't a "watch influencer" or a really wealthy celebrity. I feel like the influencers have some pressure to keep rotating watches for the sake of content and celebrities have so much money that they can just get watches on a whim (or are gifted them if their an ambassadors). Those SOTC's are fine to see different watches and people opinion on the watch as an object. But when someone has to spend months if not years saving up and planning for a watch, the collection that creates is truly unique and fascinating to watch.

I picking a watch to get for reaching a financial milestone. I was thinking Marathon lately. But before that I was thinking about the intramatic. I never thought to get one at the passing of my father. Probably because he was always giving me a bad time about new watches coming to the house. He'd always say "you getting another watch." Sorry for your loss.

That’s cool for you but every watch definitely does not need a story lol it’s not always that deep. Memories are made when watches are worn, anyway. You can get a watch to mark an occasion but if you don’t even wear it and make memories then it’s pointless. How about people just do what they want to do? Lol
