Gotta love it. I started my Ryobi tool kit simply because I saw you guys using the Ryobi 3/8 ratchet with oscillating head. Now I'm almost 20 tools deep in the Ryobi one+ world. Not going to lie, the woodworking side of you I did not expect but did find it very wholesome, especially using your grandfather's chisels. Keep it up man!
Thanks for taking the time to share your shed with us. I am currently building a work station based around a section of pallet wracking in my shed and using some of the ideas from this video. Cheers. Wade.
Biggest game changer for me was folding brackets for worktops. Since my workshop is setup in the second car part of my garage it lets the space serve two purposes.
I used to take photos at night, often using a combination of my skateboard and milk crate as a stand to take long exposure shots. still have them milk crates to this day in my garage and balcony for any use necessary. 10/10 best multipurpose tool
Love this, Moog, thanks for sharing your shed. It's called "dry wall" in the states because walls used to be made with wood slats covered in cement and plaster, which was usually mixed in a wheelbarrow and thrown on, first the thicker cement and then a thin layer of plaster that was sanded down. This was a very "wet wall" process, so when the gypsum boards started to get used in the late 50's contractors would say things like "are you using wet wall or dry wall," so the term stuck. My grandfather was a builder as well, my dad still has all of his tools, some dating back to the 30's I love using them when I get a chance too.
IKEA Kallax - wood veneered cube storage racks popular for domestic shelving/storage - when these get old and battered people sell them on eBay for practically nothing as most of the perceived value is in looking smart. I use old battered ones for shed storage. toolboxes, crates of car parts, chunky items like spare headlamps all sit really easily in the kallax cubes. the 2x2 racks are cheapest and they stack really easily... the optional sets of drawers that go into them are useful for small tools.
Cool Workshop you got there. As a fellow woodworker Id love to see a Moog woodworking video at some point. My shop is mostly wood working with everything by the door setup for car stuff in the driveway. And Ive got a wall of green tools just like you, its really hard to beat them when you do woodworking and Cars....well and have a yard to maintain
Either something to put stuff in, stand on, or even sit on (perfect height for body work). I can't count how many times I've thought "I wish I had a damn milk crate".
protip: put scotia or tri quad style molding where the skirtingboard/baseboard would go, it makes cleaning easier because there is no hard edge and it means if you drop something down the back, it will hit the molding and want to roll forward, or if you kick something under it will want to come back out.
the paint stirrer thing is spot on for sanding, usually i have a few bottles of superglue in the fridge in the shed, quickly glue some sandpaper to the bench or a bit of timber, perfect for sanding, and then if you want to remove it from the bench just hit it with a scraper and the glue comes straight off.
in general, a fridge in the shed is excellent, a cheap little bar fridge with a freezer freezer is good for cooling down shafts or bearings a bit to get them assembled easier fridge is good for keeping your superglue from going off, also good for just keeping some cold water/beverages in a kettle is excellent in a similar manner, you can heat things up pretty well without an open flame; boil some water and use it to soften plastic parts, put parts in boiling water to warm them up, also good for a cuppa on cold days, if you're really desperate, you can use the steam from the boiling kettle to shrink heatshrink or remove window tint etc too.
