No exorbitant drama, just letting the science be the entertainment. Please continue doing what you do. Your videos mean a lot to many people. . We need this in this day and age.
Emphatically mesmerising & educational content which should be a staple of both primary & secondary schools to help stem brain rot & lengthen attention spans. Bravo once again Sea!

Made by my favorite astronomy channel. Love you man. If I wasn't broke AF I would donate instantly. This is just beautiful. The Universe is speaking to us in a wonderful language.
Space is such a fascinating, terrifying, and yet ethereal thing. It is both extremely beautiful and extremely deadly. Never thought sound would play a part in that dichotomy
Superb video SEA. Amazing content. Keep them coming. Hearing all these different space sounds is like walking through a dense jungle and hearing all sorts birds and insects . Now imagine hearing the sound of a supernova explosion
Cool fact I just recently learned; you have no sound sensors in your body. What you have is a touch sensor with a special configuration to amplify the signal at specific frequencies meaning your hearing is just the most sensitive way for the world to touch you.
The thing about sight and sound is they are subjective qualitative phenomena that exist as a manifestation of our own brains. They don't exist outside of our own heads but our derivative of information we receive from the external environment via sensory apparatus. Who are we to say some other hypothesized entity might not be capable of hearing light?
very true, but haven't we named perceiving light as sight? in a sense, we can see sound through the waveforms and spectrums that represent sound. do our eyes not work as ears for light with a retina as the eardrum, with rods and cones playing the part of cochlear hairs in the inner ear?
@@ats-joonaskolu224 Sure. I think I was making a philosophical comment more than a scientific one. The point being the qualia we associate with sound might be the qualia an alien life form experiences with light. The question of subjective experience deeply intrigues me. It's the basis of our perceived reality and even when we imagine fantastical aliens We typically endow them with the same qualia we ourselves possess. But what if their qualia is something we cannot relate to at all? The way they perceive reality might be completely incomprehensible to us. And what about AI? A machine that can detect and measure electromagnetism might in some sense be able to see vastly better than us, But in another sense is completely blind. It has no subjective experience at all, just data. I'm generally speaking highly skeptical of the way we anthropomorphize AI, with some people already acting like it is sentient, or close to achieving it.
I'm so excited! I'm going to save this for bedtime for maximum effect though. Thank you for all you do for us SEA! There's so many of us who genuinely appreciate your contribution to our lives. 🙂
The work NASA and other institutions are doing in translating these waves into audible frequencies offers a way to perceive space in a way that feels immediate, almost visceral. It’s as if we’re being handed a different kind of “sensory vocabulary” to experience and understand the cosmos. Take “Earth Song” or the Whistler Mode waves, for instance: these aren’t just signals; they’re impressions of phenomena that shape our planet’s interaction with the universe. Sonification gives these signals texture, bringing them closer to how we naturally understand sound while still preserving the alienness of space. What’s especially striking is how this concept of sound in space redefines what we consider to be “silent” or “loud” on a cosmic scale. When we “listen” to space, we’re not just hearing-it’s more like eavesdropping on an endless conversation of forces, energy, and matter. That these recordings, such as gravitational waves detected by LIGO, can be converted into something we can perceive, essentially allows us to reach across the vastness of space and time. It’s a reminder that the universe isn’t indifferent; rather, it’s humming with stories, just waiting to be translated into sounds that our minds and hearts can grasp.
The Voyager one plasma wave science clip (18:42) sounds awfully like a clip I've heard on Star Trek many times. Tricorder or a bridge sound can't quite put my finger on it at the moment
