The Kestrel is so legit. I’m with you on the over braking but new bearings would match perfectly.

I switched just the spool bearing and with the 1 gram trout magnet was hitting over 40' consistently. That was with the ace hawk cu. I'll have to see If I gain alittle on my double down rod. That distance for me is more than enough for the places I fish.

I’m upgrading soon! It’s already good as is in my opinion, but I definitely look forward to upgrading. I’ve personally noticed I get better distance on my double down than I did with my Acehawk

nice video, what your opinion about reel compare to daiwa gekkabijin and aldebaran bfs?

I think that this casts lighter lures better out of the box than Gekka, but Gekka is smoother because it’s practically the steez cousin. And I personally have not used 22 alde but have used 16 alde and I don’t see any reason to get the Shimano bfs options for myself.

The kestrel is good… but tbh there’s options thatre better for salt as this does have a magnesium composite. Granted I’ve been using mine in salt.

Not necessarily a bad option. Maybe consider the Tsurinoya dragon 7’ light, dobyns SUF701, or one of the cashion models.
For line I really like the Varivas Light Game series. Braid and leader
