Once you added tape, did the power increase for you? I have heard that without tape the paddle is to soft for many but add the lead and the power increases significantly. I have not had one in my hands so just going off of other reviews. Thanks

I wouldn't say it increased significantly, but the tape more is for the sweet spot. If you are going for this paddle you need to generate enough power yourself and if not go for a more poppy paddle

@@Professor_Pickleball I am Currently using the Invicta Air, I can produce my own power, I find the Invicta Air a bit challenging to use while dinking at the kitchen. It can be a bit to poppy! Did not know if the Luxx would be to much of a change?

@@jeffreinardy7570the Control Air is significantly better on the “touch” shots. I tend to rip it myself (deep returns, out of bounds serves, etc.). I just got the Control Air a few days ago, and love it-but ordered lead tape IMMEDIATELY for stability. Tape helps control your shot, but you def have to get the rhythm down because it is not like the (even thermoformed) CRBN, Engage, or other paddles with edge guards. It is its own beast. I’d consider it a truly advanced paddle, and I have a lot of drills to do to get better. As far as sweet spot, this is a misnomer. It might balance how you feel when you hit it, but you can’t change the sweet spot, only learning to better control how and where you strike the ball on the paddle.

How does putting tape around increase the size of your sweet spot?

Adds weight that makes it more head heavy so the ball is less likely to die in a larger area because of the weight. Just think of it as something more flimsy and light is more likely to have the balls momentum die compared so something super dense and heavier the ball is going to pop off better

How much weight did you add? 3gr on each side?

How long will the spray on grit last? It's a pricey paddle.

Have the paddle for 4 months now and the grit is still in pretty good shape with moderate use

@@Professor_Pickleball I saw a video a while ago that mentioned a spray on regrit would soon be available. Have you heard anything about this?

Too bad it didn't come in green Green Screen optical illusion.

Sounds like a re-made Vangaurd series.

Somewhat but not quite. It came from the Lab 003 concept but slightly reworked. Similar look/texture, but the feel is different.
