Good review, I found about the samething. My take is that the closer you get to the net, the more the Luxx shines. At 72, I am not generating my own power to the paddle that may be needed.
This is absolutely wild. Two of the biggest paddles coming out are polar opposites - extreme power vs extreme control. And honestly, I can see a 50/50 split in popularity. People from high level tennis who are used to full swings, pickle pros, advanced pickle players will probably love the control paddle. The bangers, singles players, and people with less ability to generate power or people still learning their swing mechanics and are perfectly fine with shorter and smaller strokes will love power of a gearbox. As a former tennis player and someone who doesn’t put a whole lot in paddles, I kinda hope the other reviews aren’t like this because if so, I’m going to buy it! 😂😂
I only got to test out the gearbox for a few minutes, but i hit like 5 balls out on my flicks-- definitely polar opposites. It makes sense that Jack Sock, who has tons of power, simply wants a control paddle that helps him keeps balls in.
@@ZeroZeroVu actually, it would be VERY cool to see a comparison of these paddles. Like I don’t know what your skill level is, but to see difference would be fascinating. Like, how does power compare to someone who’s able to have full swing on a “soft” paddle, vs maybe more compact swings on a “extreme” power paddle…. Because just by initial thoughts, if I can get big power (by essentially using more effort for power) from a soft paddle AND have insane touch vs. maybe less effort for power and not as much control….what’s better for people? People with higher level games will be fine with a paddle they have to try harder with? Would be fascinating to see…I bet you would get a ton of clicks if you compare 😂
@@edjupickleball bingo. Everyone wants “power”, but just by watching your homie play with the Luxx, if someone has solid mechanics, you can always get power from a paddle. Conversely, it’s darn near impossible to get extreme touch and control from a power paddle….
Love the Luxx! Came from the Power Air, then Labs 005 and now this. But, now there is the AMPED Pro Air coming out tomorrow for Labs members . Need your review???
Thanks for all the details on the Luxx. Looking into the S2 for the answer to slowing down my game style. Sweet spot size sounds like it will help me do what I want to accomplish. I use a "ping pong" grip, so the short handle makes me want to try it. Hoping for a demo session when I find a dealer/Rep near me.
May I ask, was the paddle you were holding at the end of the video, the epic version or the wider S2? Thank you for the in-depth video, I've been seeing more of these paddles on the court. I'm not a smashing player, I tend to play with control and create shots which I hope this paddle could help me even more.
I’ve played with both and the 13s will have more pop it’s only 13mm and has the lightest swing weight of any thermoformed paddle. while the luxx has 8 more mm of material for the ball to sink into and favors placement over power and speed. 13s: fast and pop Luxx: slower and plush
I have the invicta power air and tried the luxx control air. In my opinion, played with the Luxx for 10 minutes and was not impressed. Both paddles come with the same roughness technology. In my opinion they dialed back way too much on the Luxx. Power air has 2 problems, if you can't harness the power not good for you. Second, if you hit with the power air continuous, you can form tennis elbow due to vibration.
Hey Davis looking to buy the luxx in the next weeks but also want the hesacore grip to try it out. I'm looking into buying the S2 version of the luxx, do you think the hesacore grip will fit the S2 version?
I think all around, it’s just better than the halo. More power and more control. Halo is very nice for the price point though. But yeah, I couldn’t see why I would choose a halo over the luxx
They’re very different paddles! Luxx is a thicker paddle, way lighter, with a completely different surface. Luxx is easier to maneuver and control. Labs 006 is more powerful and better spin. If you can handle the weight, the labs 006 is a weapon.
Achei incrível a ideia de praticar a gentileza aleatória! Vou começar a fazer pequenos gestos de bondade para desconhecidos, tenho certeza de que isso vai trazer mais felicidade para mim e para os outros.
Mine should be coming soon- I plan to test that and the epic shape and review it! I don’t think they’re as popular due to the shorter handle. But if you use a ping pong grip or just prefer shorter handles they can feel better.
Acredito que um vídeo sobre inteligência emocional no trabalho seria muito útil para aprendermos a lidar com conflitos e resolver problemas de forma mais eficiente.
The one I’m showing in the video is Invikta. I’m getting my hands on epic and S2 soon so I’ll make another video about that. But I’m generally, the Invikta shape is more preferred because of the longer reach and handle length.
Thanks for the review. I ordered one a few days ago and am looking forward to comparing it with my Project 005 Invikta. Off-topic question: what brand and style of eyeglasses are you wearing when playing pickleball?
I'll comment it here too since a lot of people are gonna be confused by it 😜 Promotion details: Orders from $50-$100 will receive a $10 digital gift card Orders from $101-$200 will receive a $20 digital gift card Orders from $201-$300 will receive a $30 digital gift card Orders over $300 will receive a $40 digital gift card Cheers!
Come on really? How much bs tech do you need for a glorified oversized ping pong paddle? Graphite, carbon fiber, nano tech, pizzo electronic. This is all a joke. $$$$ Get in on it people, time to make some money 😂
This was the review I needed. Two players, different styles, testing the same racket. I was on the fence but now I'm sold :)

It’s an awesome paddle!!! Love it. Played 4 hours yesterday!!!! The control is amazing.
yeah I have had it for 2 week's, love it! feel like an extension of my arm, but the power is weak, and I put a small tape to compensate
@@razrgu3838where did you place the tape and did it help with power?

The name of the game in pickleball is short, compact strokes… contradicting yourself
I purchased both the Selkirk Luxx and Gearbox Pro Power. Can't wait to play with them!

Hey Ed, are you still using the Luxx? If so, are still really pleased with it? I'm about to buy one and enjoyed your review.
Is there a way to preserve the grit on the luxx because I’m afraid it’s going to loose quickly especially paying such a premium
This music is the perfect background for a relaxing bath, thank you.
The LUXX is an incredible paddle!
Bought a Joola Gen 3 and been using it the last week but it’s not the same as my Luxx, I miss it! Unsure on what to do 😩
You should return the Gen 3 because they have been banned in tournament play
I was skeptical at first, but ZenCortex exceeded my expectations.

How would you compare the luxx to the gruvn muvn 13s? I'm looking to get a control paddle, but having trouble deciding.

New Gearbox paddle is the future.
Lol not if the sole function is power…. That only gets you so far, homie….

How much weight did the edge guard tape add?
Hey Davis looking to buy the luxx in the next weeks but also want the hesacore grip to try it out. I'm looking into buying the S2 version of the luxx, do you think the hesacore grip will fit the S2 version?
Yup! It will fill the S2 or epic just fine!
O bege é tão sofisticado e moderno! Obrigada por compartilhar esse vídeo!
How are you liking the last 3 weeks with the Luxx? Just Subscribed and liked! good review!
How is this compared to Gearbox Pro Power, Control?
Do you suggest the medium or small hesacore grip for the luxx?
Depends on how thick you like your handle. I prefer thinner. But if you have big hands, go for medium
You covered everything in detail and gave balanced and honest evaluation.
Thanks for the review. How do you compare the Luxx control air vs the halo XL control ? Try to see which one go buy next. Thank you
I think all around, it’s just better than the halo. More power and more control. Halo is very nice for the price point though. But yeah, I couldn’t see why I would choose a halo over the luxx

What hesacore would you recommend? I have a 003 Invikta and I’m trying to figure out which one to use.
I have the TOUR (S) on mine and it fits perfectly
How would you compare the LUXX vs the Vanguard 2.0
Between the Luxx and the 006 which one do you like better and why?
