    The Selkirk LUXX control air is a truly amazing paddle. Seriously. I was able to generate a ton of power with this thing and it had the spin to keep my shots inbounds. The control is also top notch. The ball will go where you want it to. My only complaint is the lack of pop at the kitchen but once you realize that you can switch to an angle and placement game and be just as effective. I've played with a lot of s tier paddles lately and this one is special.

    Your review is easily my favorite out of all of the reviews I’ve watched for this paddle, especially where you mention that this paddle will help make you a better player long-term. That’s a strong endorsement to me.
    Did you apply any lead tape to it while play testing?

    • @RacketsandRunnersPickleball
      @RacketsandRunnersPickleball  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I actually did not find the need for lead tape here. The sweet spot is so big/forgiving and I didn’t have problems with stability so I figured I’d keep the swing weight low for now and explore lead tape down the line.

    Holy crap, Batman....my brain is exploding with all this techno lingo....that said, I did just try this paddle out in a shop this afternoon and my immediate reaction was.....sweeet! So thanks for validating my gut feel about the LUXX. Will probably buy one.

    Control Air Epic vs S2 vs Invicta please? Which is great all-round paddle?

    • @RacketsandRunnersPickleball
      @RacketsandRunnersPickleball  7 месяцев назад +1

      At this point, I think the Invikta is more well rounded because it’s so much more competitive from the baseline and with full strokes but the Epic and S2 are great if you’re all in for manoeuvrability.

    How does the Luxx compare to Double Black Diamond which is also a control paddle?

    • @wulymammoth
      @wulymammoth 7 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve hit with this, the DBD, and own a DBD Infinity. I come from a Bread & Butter Filth prior. The Luxx is exceptional at the net which I desire in doubles play. As mentioned in this review, you’re going to lose some driving power with this paddle, but you gain a lot in touch shots with this. My slice volleys are much more easy to control and direct. However, I prefer my DBD Infinity over this because it has arguably the lowest swing weight of all these paddles (maximum maneuverability) and keeps some of the power of the original DBD while hitting harder than the Luxx. However, my sweet spot is noticeably smaller given that the Infinity is edgeless. The price points are also wildly different.

    • @RacketsandRunnersPickleball
      @RacketsandRunnersPickleball  7 месяцев назад

      To me, the Double Black Diamond is more of a control paddle relative to the rest of SixZeros lineup. It’s still a hard hitting thermoformed paddle so the Luxx will be significantly softer and better for control.

    No mention of adding lead tape?

    • @RacketsandRunnersPickleball
      @RacketsandRunnersPickleball  7 месяцев назад

      I didn't find it necessary on this paddle. The sweet spot is already very big and stable and I didn't want to take away from the manoeuvrability.

    So for a new player 1-2 would you recommend the LUXX control or the 6.0 Ruby?

    • @RacketsandRunnersPickleball
      @RacketsandRunnersPickleball  2 месяца назад +1

      I would lean towards the Ruby; it is a little more well rounded than the Luxx Control Air.
