- Welcome to Hermitcraft season 10 - Episode 5! This is a wild episode of unexpected surprises and adventures on Hermitcraft. We fix Etho's redstone for him and fish a mending book out of the Hermitcraft seas right in front of Grian and invite me into his secret chamber. Also, we meet up with all the Hermits in the season 10 shopping district to reveal the shop Permits. #GoodTimesWithScar: if you break the bottom piece of a ladder, monsters wont be able to climb that ladder (only you can climb the ladder by jumping before climbing the ladder)

Maybe you should close up your Lokomotive with a Deck or a Roof and a Gate that helps you and lets the Zombies stay out.

Would you like Some things to help you day scar? Add a fencepost and carpet to the bottom of the laders or a block and raise the ladders and mobs can no longer chase you up them, a raid farm might go well there as a loading boon for the train and will help with any resources you may need I even bet you could pay someone to build the farm like tang or impulse and then decorate the outside, and most importantly hang on to that sand and gravel permit it will make you a mint between doc charging sand for wood and all the concrete's needing gravel it's going to make even more than prismarine off the shop owners and docs customers. :-)
The Chest Monster should have its own habitat in the zoo at this point.

A quick tip for Scar; better hold on to the sand and gravel permit. DocM has already obtained almost all of the wood types and plans on accepting sand as a payment method. So, a monopoly on sand is going to be really good. I even see sand being the unofficial method of payment for the season because of that.
And they are both needed for Concrete too. Sure it's not the block, but the materials may come in handy.
And even for TNT, and for farming cacti for the XP farms. Impulse has plans for expanding the cacti farm afaik and Tango is also planning on making one because kelp gives so less it was kind of a wasted effort in terms of getting XP. So, Trader Scar should by all means keep the sand permit to himself.
I figure he just doesn't want to be the one who has to manually grind all the sand and gravel
DocM is going to turn into one of those old timey evil rich movie villains.
Tbh having a sand permit is gonna make you rich with Doc !BUT! you have to constantly grind for sand because everyone is buying your stock empty. So massive time investment in the sand permit

the silence from Scar when he checks the book, the quiet "uh oh" from Cub as he figures it out, and the quick death that i was unprepared for is truly peak humor to me
and knowing this was right after his whole spiel about mending is seed locked and people have "stolen" his mending but it's been a while and he's up next right before Scar gets it raises it up another level

I would suggest to break the bottom ladder block so mobs can’t climb up to your train, but then we wouldn’t get chaos/panic Scar.
From what I understood from DocM's video, mobs only really climb ladders if they are placed on trap doors... Because their pathfiding is wonky with trapdoors, they keep going forwards and up the ladder.

As someone who has been watching Scar for a decade, you just get numb to it eventually.
Scar, doc who has almost a monopoly on wood will only let hermits pay for it in sand, you could take advantage of the situation and make so much riches out of this.

Scar, please remove the lowest ladder leading up to the cabin off the locomotive. That will stop the mobs('cept spiders) from climbing into bed with you! 😊

Scar, I would recommend you to remove the bottom part of the ladder to your train. First it would remove the ability of mobs climbing your ladder, and 2nd it would make more sense for your train to not have your ladder touching your rails. If you look at trains with ladders they are usually hovering a bit away from the tracks.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I saw you mention that you got the sand permit in Grian's episode. If you still have it, DON'T TRADE AWAY THE SAND PERMIT. Doc is going to sell all his products for sand instead of diamonds, so owning the sand shop is going to make you the richest hermit.
The problem is that sand is a very tedious resource to grind, especially if you dont know how to build tnt duping contraptions. I'd rather someone with more redstone skills get that contract than someone who would have to do it all by hand
When Scar got sand/gravel, I could almost hear Doc's evil laughter in the background
For anyone who didn’t see Grians video, the issue with the mending book is they figured out that the type of book you get it based on the seed type if your in a single player world and you fish you will always get a predetermined list of loot from fishing. In a multiplayer server everyone pulls from this predetermined list that was created when the world spawned. This means Scar stole Grians book because now he has to shuffle through the whole list until the next mending book.

Given what Doc is doing, and planning on using sand as a currency for wood, that Sand & Gravel permit might be extremely valuable.

The funniest thing about Impulse, Pearl, Iskall, and now Scar fishing up a mending book is that the fishing loot tables are pre-set on each seed so every time another Hermit fishes one up it is one Grian could've had, and it pushes up the number of casts he will need to get one. 😂
Whoever ends up getting all the sand permits should make a sand shop with complementary furnaces. Maybe plant some of every flower outside too.

@@brot3372Doc wants nothing to do selling sand. In fact, some of his shops will only take sand in exchange for blocks/items. It’s in his latest episode.

@@overbebThe only way Doc's going to want the sand permit is if they allow duping. The Tools permit will be a good one because people are going to need a lot of shovels if they want to buy logs this season.

So grateful to have found scars videos dealing with long covid. As a young dude who suddenly became totally disabled from this, Scar and this channel have given me so much hope. His positivity and kindness is so infectious, I love it.

Scar, if you remove the bottom most ladder from the train, zombie can't climb it but you still can and it looks nicer!
The data pack with mob sounds might be one of the best additions to Hermitcraft. I love the subtle story that happens with the fish sounds this episode. Scar just casually playing fish noises whenever he passes by, and Grian breaking the noteblock in the middle of their conversation without even acknowledging Scar's shenanigans. It's so great.
Mob safety suggestion: Remove the lowest part of the latter so you have to jump up to reach the train's interior

Hermits need sand to pay for Doc's wood log monopoly. So Scar's sand is even more valuable.
It's really fun to watch this after Grian's video because this video is somewhat out of order compared to his, but you would never know unless you've seen both.

As a burnt out engineer....it is so very nice to see you all flourishing as you embrace this new Hermit-Vibe in Season-X. It gives me hope.
I embraced Minecraft with my son during pandemic and now you all are an integral part of our relationship. It allows us to connect in a way that I could have never imagined connecting with my father. Instead of using the mail portal, how about a portal in front of the train? That way you have the illusion of continuity without needing to build track in front of the train. That and you can say your train is Nether bound.

@@redram6080 I suspect he brought in a ringer for the life series and he just did the voice over. No one crits out several people in a row like he did in secret life and then folds like cheap laundry at the sight of five zombies like he did in today's episode. They are not the same player.

@@HexadecimalCrsh That's a hilarious but stupid idea, Scar has been demonstrating extreme skill and extreme haplessness in combat, often in the same scene, for many years. Scar in Hermitcraft does not pay attention to danger the way Scar in Life Series does because death is basically consequence-free when he's close to his spawn point. It's also very funny to watch him let mobs chase him around, so there's no reason not to do it.

Two suggestions for the train...
1. Some lighting under and around it to keep the mobs away at night. (Maybe some hobos with camp fires?)
2. Swap out the diesel-style horn for a proper steam whistle.

People call Iskall unhinged, but Scar knows no chill either. Bringing the Book over with him is one thing, but asking for a copy of the picture and upon grians answer just setting up for a "you're gonna love what i got here" of some terms... this was COLD!
