I love how the car feels after doing this. The first couple of days driving it did feel weird since it was harder lol but you forget and adjust very quickly
Hey man, wanted to let you know that I am trying to start another channel and I would love to feature your music on there from time to time. Only has 3 subscribers as of now but it is a gaming channel of just montages. Would like to put your Walkman Snail shoes song again if you would allow it. I can definitely link your channel in the description and list the song and artist. I love your music! Keep it up.
If you are manual transmission and are running a stand alone. You probably could do that. I haven’t tried it before. Lmk how it goes. It’s noticeable at first but i quickly got used to it.
@@Knownworldwide Only reason why I bring it up is because i've seen another video where doing this lock install has damaged that motor or gear set (Can't remember exactly) But they recommended that you remove the gear between the motor and the throttle shaft. Just don't know if it's necessary or not. Mine is Auto btw. Keeping it auto with a C6 transmission in the future.
@@siborn9190 Yeah I, for the same reasons, didn’t want to install the throttle lock for fear of damaging the motor. However on the stand alone, it’s absolutely necessary for good Throttle response. I do have a spare throttle body so I am not too worried about it. I would think that if you remove the gears that if the stock ECU makes changes to that motor and then realizes that nothing is happening (ie no gears anymore) that it will throw up a CEL. As I said though, try it out and lmk.
Just a quick question, hows the cx manifold holding up if you're still using it? I can't really find any other manifolds that can keep ABS because I don't really wanna relocate it unless its a must. I'm not sure if driftmotions manifolds are alright fits but I'm just wondering
First off thanks for taking the time to watch the video! Really appreciate that. Hope you decide to stick around. CX manifold so far is holding up just fine. I also didn’t want to relocate the ABS. That being said, I will switch to a different setup someday. Just not soon. The manifold is a very tight fit and getting to the last bolt near the firewall requires some ingenuity to tighten it up. Overall though for the price, it’s really not a bad manifold. Please make sure you heat wrap it and the down pipe.
@@Knownworldwide Of course man! I've been watching every video when it comes out, you're one of very very few active IS300 GE builders out there, not to mention automatic. I'm glad we can keep in contact as its so hard nowadays to rely on outdated forums, thanks for the help. I'm not sure as to what a diffuser setup is though if you don't mind explaining.
@@icuxo Well thanks for the support man! I am active on the my.is forum. There is quite a lot of useful information there as well. So long as you can get around the attitudes and sarcasm of the group. I haven’t been apart of the forum long but I am on there if you want another way to get ahold of me. As far as a diffuser setup, Did I mention that somewhere? Or are you asking me what diffusers are for?
If you have an auto is300 then you need the stock electric throttle body to be controlled by the stock ECU. The auto transmission needs a stock functioning throttle body in order to perform the shifts properly. I like to have better throttle response so I installed this throttle lock so that I can be directly controlling the throttle plate inside. So I get the best of both worlds if you will: Better throttle response and still making the stock ECU happy with the stock throttle body hooked up. If my car were manual (which it will be eventually) then I would still be running this throttle lock until I went FFIM with a more traditional cable throttle and normal TPS.
@Knownworldwide isn't there a tune or something you can enter into the emu black that makes it control the throttle body and / or the auto transmission ? Or are stand alones only designed for manual transmission? And how do you get the oem ecu and standalone to work together?
If you go to ECU master’s website you will see the have a plug and play engine harness for the is300. This is a parallel harness designed to retain the stock is300 ECU. The EMU black does have capabilities to operate DBW systems, however as I mentioned before, the stock ECU and throttle body need to work together in order to shift the transmission properly. If you try and have the EMU control the DBW (which it can) the stock computer will flip out and put the car into limp mode.
The stand alone is designed for both auto and manual transmissions. It’s just that on this particular chassis, it’s best to let the stock ECU control the DBW and automatic transmission. Also you need the stock ECU to control the gauges and HVAC.
Would like a review after driving with it on. Heard both good and bad things about these fighting the stepper and the stock ecu fighting the throttle lock and causing issues with the TB.... Why i havent got one yet but maybe its better with the standalone.
My exact reason why I have never installed one. I heard they damage the TB over time. However in the case of the stand alone, it is a must since the stock ECU won’t be controlling it anymore. The throttle pedal resistance is higher for sure. Meaning you have to use more force to press the throttle now.
@@MidwestMechanic Ah, gotcha. I would say give it a try. When you go stand alone you will need to run one anyway. Unless you plan on going to a cable throttle setup or some other custom setup with a FFIM.
I know you probably already answer the question but i don't understand. does the throttle lock work on an automatic transmission with stock ecu or it will put itself in limp mode? i tried to look everywhere to get an answer but i didnt found anything really clear. but good video btw and nice build
@@sp1cyf1r3 well there is always the potential of wearing out the trac motor. Although I don’t hear about that very often. Mine has been doing just fine. I did buy another used throttle body from a local junkyard just in case.

Nice I just got mine yesterday. December on the road to first start with my IS300
Sweet!
Nice work..
Can't wait to see the follow-up.
And you said that this will work just fine with a stock ECU?
Yes. The pedal effort will be quite a bit more though since you are working against the throttle motor. So far though the response is much better.

NICE!! 👍
Would it be worth removing the gear of the stepper motor so you don't have the resistance on the peddle?
