Santa Clara Vanguard featured "Mars" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets" during the corps' production, "Music of the Starry Night" performed July 28, 2012, during the DCI Southeastern Championship at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

It’s amazing how simple this looks compared to more modern shows. Not taking anything away from this, it’s one of my all time favorites, but just to compare it to how things change.

There's something to be said for clarity and definition. The mind can only process
so much information. I love the more simplistic shows but that's just me.
I marched in the early 80's so you can tell where I'm coming from.

Actually the marching bent leg technique and dot system we use now is the same as it was back then. Its just much mire clearly defined

Drills that have judges traps in them . 87 ' Garfield had a good number of those in the drill. Judges actually warming up on the sideline before Garfield went on with just how much running around they had to do with that Zingali drill.
