The helmet could be partly 16th century. Helmets would often get repaired and adjusted to fit the ever changing fashion, so an original 16th century forged helmet will often have several adjustments from later periods. It is extremely rare to find such an old piece of equipment that hasn't been tinkered with at all.
tinkered with 300 years later? I find that highly unlikely. looks to me like the whole thing was absolutely made as a reproduction in the 19th century.
@@gordonlekfors2708 no not tinkered with 300 years later, tinkered with when it was still in use every 5 or 10 years until a leap in design or metalurgy comes along making the helmet obsolete.
Rick *goes to store* Cashier: " your total is $64.56 Rick: *sigh* "look I have no clue what this is worth but I have a buddy who is an expert in groceries so do you mind if I give him a call"
I'm taking all the risk here. I have to load the groceries in my car, unload them, take them to my fridge, and there's no guarantee my wife will like what I bought. I'll give you 15 cents.
Nice plan, made the Pawn star comfortable with you and then offers high price. It works so well as Rick was filled with joy as that person lends his helmet to Rick.
Dude walks in: “Hey I have this dead wombat from a historic battle in Slovakia during the year 2034, do you think I could get $12 for it?” Rick: “Yeah hold on lemme call my buddy over here, he knows everything about this stuff.”

Actually machine cut threads were a thing millennia ago in wood and stone. Metal threads only came to Europe in the late 1300’s.. case in point, the bradmore screw. That piece of equipment saved King Henry V after an arrow penetrated his skull inthe battle of shrewsbury in 1403.

The bolts become improved upon BY davinci and shared that knowledge so he wasn't the one who needed to make it. Historically during that time I wouldn't be surprised if a nobleman paid the extra price for a bolt that was more high quality. But the other points I understand. No doubt it's victorian.
A self professed dealer in antique arms and armor didn't notice the giant out of place bolt or bother removing it before trying to sell it... Wow, didn't fool the real expert and it's funny how Rick says he has a buddy in everything in this business and lends more credence to calling the show "Let me call a buddy" 😂😂😂
I got a buddy of mine he knows a lot about this stuff.
Sir Lancelot walks in.
Lancelot: it was mine. I value it at 20 million dollars.
Rick: all I can do is 5 dollars. I’m taking all the risk.
Hopefully not the fate version chase that would be a very one sided conversation lol

Hahaha. From the knights that say nee.nee.nee
"You look like a knight in shining armor"
Rick: *Looks like shrek*
Lol
I'd consider that a compliment
Armor not exactly shiny either.
yeah because interviewing the guy outside with the helmet before you tell us whether or not it was real wasn't a dead give away
spoiler
And people say this show is fake :^)
Im sleep
Ik righttt
That was so stupid
With this clip, you can show how they were still training to figure the show out & how much it evolved
“I got a buddy in everything .”
Incredible foreshadowing.

It's good to see Steve Vai has a life outside guitars.
Hahahaha! Rick looked like a potato wrapped in foil🤣
Mace S Rick licked the inside
Andre McElroy he was looking for the butter!🤣
Loooilll nice one 👍👍👍👍👍
Seems everyone was disappointed in the end. Times have changed a whole lot. Was fun to watch. Great video
"I gotta buddy in everything" no truer words have been said
I wonder if catelyn Jenner and mr. Brown got along famously

Ricks parties must be crazy with all the buddies he’s got
Buddy walks in with a new tshirt for the seller. Such a nice guy.

I am laughing so much , my stomach hurts .
I have to take all the risk - make room on the shelves and in the fridge, and it will sit there for a long time.
LoL
This guy reminds me of Tommy Wiseau from The Room
Opposed to Tommy Wiseau from another planet.
Oh hi mark
YOU ARE TEARING ME APART RICK
Spoons!
He does naaaaaat!
RIP Old man. You made me laugh many a time.

This is a huge insult to the jousting helmet community!
Armets and close helmets were used in jousting tho, famous example is the garniture of george clifford iii currently displayed at the met
This dude wore the helmet and high heel shoes in his apartment at 3am Coked out his mind
One look at that guy and for some reason all I heard in my head was...
*"YOURE TEARING ME APART LISA!!!!!!"*
“How rare is this rare jousting helmet?”
Hmm yes the floor is made of floor
This was the first episode of Pawn stars I saw back in 2012.
*guy brings in half eaten big Mac*
Rick: You mind if I get an expert to take a look at this?
Seller: go for it
Rick: *Calls in Chum Lee*
LoL
I bet the seller wishes he was wearing that helmet when the swarm of angry bees attacked his face
lol I think the first guest made Rick blush 😄
They kinda killed it when the guy was being interviewed with the helmet saying he wanted it to be real.
Caitlyn jenner selling the stuff bruce got on tour with the olympics 🤦♂️
I bought in a small town.
2 minutes later i bought it in munich at a antique dealers.
0:15 The guy came to the pawnshop in a hersh .. How ridiculously cool >

WONDER IF IT WAS REAL!?

Mr. Brown and the singer from AFI got along famously.

2:23 the one time Rick didn't lie.
the seller seemed like a nice person lol
Rick always has a buddy
I would love to have that helmet.
I got a buddy that knows about the industrial revolution period threaded bolts that were put on jousting helms.
I never new Corey Feldman was a collector of medieval armor.
Male Sandra bullock selling knights armor
Ricks face at 3:08 😂😂😂

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Too many people needlessly judgemental about superficial nonsense.

Chase Smith also, it's at the end of this video
James Brown?
Wow! I totally can't tell that's a man in drag. Amazing
2:56 nice job editing the show... not like it gave away the ending or anything
"A person told me there is an American flag on the moon, and I'm gonna go check it out."

''A small place in Germany'' 2 minutes later: ''I got it in Munich''.
Olaf van der Horst Munich has small shops
He probably meant small shop
I've seen full suits of armour being offered for sale at German Autobahn restaurants.

You literally just said the answer to the question in the title: rare
He caught the ball himself
This may be rare, but it'll never be as rare as the relationship that mr brown and I famously had.
my helmet is rare whenever rebecca is on the show...i mean raw.✊✊
Finally he admitted it! Rick finally admitted he has a buddy in everything lol
Mr brown and jousting got along famously
He looks just like Mike Tramp from the band White Lion
If he had just taken the bolt off beforehand he might've gotten away with it
When I saw the picture of it I immediately knew it was a fake
I’ve got a buddy who knows a bit about this kind of stuff

The bolts existed, look at the volant piece of the Dos Augas garniture.
That guy had some work done
He's an expert in Antique Arms and Mr. Clean cosplay
3:42 and 3:48 he said “yeah” it sounded weird lol
Rick: let me call up my buddy who's an expert on old helmets
Is it a real piece of armor - yes , is it an old piece of armor -yes . It's a victorian copy lol
yea, like wtf I guess words don't actually mean anything to him.
Wow, now I know where the guys from From Software ( Dark Souls ) got their inspiration.
2:54 spoilers. He still has it while talking about it in the past tense. Now I know they don't make a sale.
Mr. Brown and I got along famously
When the title said rare, i instantly though that the helm would have yellow text.
i very like pawn stars
