I've visited London three times by now and there never seems to be enough time to see everything. It's always: "This goes on the list for next time..." And now, thanks to you and these amazing videos, there's even more to see. Thanks!
Joolz you are awesome! I'm a history student studying in London and have always been fascinated by quirky history which mostly goes unseen or heard of by people! Your videos always make me smile and I get super excited when I see something new on here to then go and explore in the city!! Keep up the awesome work! - Holly xx
cindybin2001 What are you on about? This comment wasn't intended for you. Why should I have to bash other people for whether or not they drink? This comment was about being a history student, not a being a bloody missionary. Piss off. Go back to playing with your pony's.
Thanks Holly. Yes, they take quite a while to make and there is a lot of editing involved so I don't always manage to get one out every week. That's the aim though! I have 3 or 4 ready to edit though so there should be some more coming up.
Shame on you lol you missed out Tooley Street one the most important streets in the history of this country. As you probably know it was once called the larder of England and for good reason. It was the cargo unloaded in the upper and lower pools of the Thames that was said to have fed England
Just wanted to say that my Summer study abroad trip to London (Drama Major) was rescheduled to 2021 due to covid-19 pandemic. This broke my heart since I have never travelled outside of the USA.THANK YOU for giving me a small taste of England and London via your channel.I hope that you are well.I'm sure things will get better in time.
anything Saxon gets my attention. Many thanks for this video. London is obviously ancient - but most is built after the Great Fire. Its those hidden older bits that are rather exciting
Love all your London videos. I visited London, Manchester and Liverpool in September 2019. I walked across London Bridge both ways on a gray, overcast and windy day. Very chilly and windy on that bridge but what a magnificent view! Luckily there is a very nice coffee shop at the foot of the bridge.
I’ve been to London once, and can’t wait until I visit again. These videos only reinforce that desire to visit again! Thank you from Florida, USA Joolz!
Thank you very much for taking me down memory lane. Such excellent work. I was born in London 1961, as were mother& my grandparents. I can remember my grandmother singing all those lovely old songs. My mother and her had to spend time in the underground during the war I was born in the borough of hackney, Stamford hill. Bethune rd, it is where my parents lived when they first married, as they worked in Golders Green. In 1962 they moved to Dunstable. Always in London until recently. I will see what I can do about a donation. Regards Julie Harnett
This was the first Joolz Guides video I saw and I went to see the Roman timbers after climbing the Monument and stopping by All Hallows by the Tower on the very day I arrived. I love London so much! Hello from Costa Rica, Joolz. Hope you come to visit us some day! ;D
I'm catching up on the oldies! This was an excellent walk round all the sometimes gruesome but fascinating streets - loved the last bit with the Roman paving. As you say "touching history". On my bucket list!
As an Englishman with many hundreds of years of traceable ancestry from the West Country, I'm enjoying your videos of our capital city. I really should visit London more often. Only been about 15 or so times and there's much more to it than meets the eye.
Joolz, thank you for this video and amazing tour. Ive been living in London for few years and never visited the churches you showed in your video. My friend is coming to visit me today and I know what we are doing at the weekend! Thank you again :)

LIke most Americans, I thought Tower Bridge was London Bridge and when I first came to London, My English nephew, who grew up in London, he was showing me around town and was telling me Uncle Evan, are you sure you want to see London Bridge not Tower Bridge, because London Bridge is kinda just a plain bridge, but I insisted, no I want to see London Bridge, and he was like, okay - when we got there I was like, Oh....your'e right...wah wah
Well, at least the view from London bridge is much nicer (since you can see Tower Bridge) and also the history is far more interesting and significant so I think you were right to insist! Anyway, you can see them both from there so you took two birds with one stone!
Your'e right, plus it's close to Borough Market, which is where we walked from...next time I'm in Arizona I might to trek out to Lake Havasu to check out the original London bridge. I'll make sure to bring my camera too :)
Another fun and interesting video Julian! I'll say it again ... all you watchers ... you haven't experienced London until you've experienced London with the tall chap in the bowler. Book your walking tour now ... you won't regret it. How's that for free advertising J?
I need somebody to love me. Need somebody to carry me home to San Francisco and bury my body there...... My favourite Hoagy Carmichael song. Hong Kong Blues!
Great Video, (and already subscribed) My Great Great Grandmother was sold to the George Inn as a young teenager to cover a gambling debt, (I have some 1800's dates on this I will add later) She was sold to the pub to work to cover the sum of £21, When I have visited the George (I used to live Oxford and now Devon) I make sure my bar bill comes always come to £21+
When the old London bridge was shipped over to Arizona it was shipped block by block. All pieces was numbered and was put back together exactly as it was in London. You can still see the numbers on the blocks.
Oh, man! I have just discovered your Channel! And I'm loving all your historic tips! Are you a history teacher? 😉 Congrats! And your british accent is the best part! Adorable! Keep it up! 👏👏👏

As always, great video. Did you know that the fire monument was built as a scientific instrument, a zenith telescope. There is a small laboratory underneath and an apparatus that can look up the middle of the stairwell, and the top can be opened up to allow a line of sight to the sky. Each step is accurately set to a specific depth. I’m not sure what you said about the kings statue on top being the original intent is true as the gold fire statute was designed like that to open up. Also, a historian has recently published that he has located the location the great fire started, it’s not actually in pudding lane but in Monument Street. His arguments have been verified by some significant others in the history community.
Joolz, did you know this ? It was a policeman who made that model of Medieval London Bridge in the church. If you look carefully, he has put a tiny figure of a London Bobby on the bridge to represent himself.
*Hi Joolz Great video!! are these all true facts?? Or you add a bit of humour sometimes? What is your source? ⭐⭐⭐Just in case I need to quote you one day on my videos, if you don't mind.thanks!*
Heh heh, the "Hung Drawn and Quartered" - gotta love the names of some of these pubs. "Let's go get hung, drawn and quartered!" Lol! or so drunk that even if you did, you wouldn't feel it!
The sale of London Bridge turned out good for both Robert McCulloch and London. McCulloch knew he was buying London Bridge and not Tower Bridge. London Bridge helped turn a lake in the middle of the desert into one of Arizona's biggest tourist attractions(besides the Grand Canyon) and tourist resorts. In the US we grow up singing "London Bridge is falling down"
The first Italian English immigrants to America, the Taliaferro's from Venice originally, were members of (and some of them buried in Saint Olaves Church London. There are some other interesting aspects of the church-- it remained standing when everything else around it was bombed. One of the oldest churches in London, and they still have Services, when I visited there was one occurring.
I do feature the tower of London briefly in my London Pass video but it can be difficult getting access to big places. They make life hard for film makers. Also I prefer less well known places as there is quite a lot out there about the Tower, but it would be nice I agree
After 1066, the British population was largely static and developed the civilization that's spread around the world today. That's Englishness or Britishness.
Next time I’m in London I am going to to All Hallows’ Church and check it out see something new every time and walking up the 311 stairs in the Monument tested ones fitness 👍👍👍
I guess you should try some ales. We also call it bitter. I dink Doombar but I also like London Pride and there are lots and lots of different ones available in various pubs. You can always ask for a taste before you buy!
Sold to McCulloch(sp?) who started the city of Lake Havasu Arizona. It is being taken care of, still has bullet holes from the Blitz. Interesting place to visit, once. 🤣
In your ongoing pub crawl it would be really cool if you could get a drink with the Yeoman Warders in their private pub in the Tower. It would be invitation only of course, and they might not fancy having their pub filmed. Just a thought.
Take your plates of meat up the apples & pears & 'round the Jack Horner & trot up here! There's nice gaffes & meat chops to eye out! Go & have a cup of char & a piece of your favourite two & eight!! Yes indeed! It's a sort of London legend or folklore. Sometimes I'm less than accuarate in my attempt to find romance in English history. I usually stick to the truth but it's also about stories and legends. Hopefully people aren't using my films to write their thesis otherwise I'm in trouble!
Well this and several other myths and stories that are not true perpetrated in this video though otherwise a great video. (Like the story of the silly American buying London Bridge thinking it was Tower Bridge!)
hi folks, Im looking for the information or resources about the warranty period of Tower Bridge (about any defects must be fixed by the builder and replace by the contractor). Please help !

Been binge watching all your back episodes and finally! St Magnus church. I visited it in February 2018, I have a nephew named Magnus.

Yes indeed! It's a sort of London legend or folklore. Sometimes I'm less than accuarate in my attempt to find romance in English history. I usually stick to the truth but it's also about stories and legends. Hopefully people aren't using my films to write their thesis otherwise I'm in trouble!
I'm sure hundreds, if not thousands died in The Great Fire. Record keeping was rather disrupted by the fire.
Well this and several other myths and stories that are not true perpetrated in this video though otherwise a great video.
