Very helpful video! Most other XReal reviews i have found don't go into enough detail on the Beam. Your video gave me all the info I needed :)
I've had the XREAL Pro and Beam for 2 days now and I think the Beam is totally worth it. I've watched a lot of videos stating otherwise and I'm very surprised. There are a lot of apps for it via their Beam Apps Store and can side load APKs to get functionality. The Netflix app looks great to me. Also, Plex works on it as well. It is rough around the edges but hopefully software or newer model will fix that but I'm glad I purchased it.

There must’ve been an update that corrected the bad resolution in Netflix, because I just bought the Xreal glasses and Beam, and the resolution in Netflix is excellent, no different from viewing directly from my phone or a computer. For me, the only problem is that the Bluetooth connection for earphones is a little buggy. Sometimes they connect and sometimes they don’t. I hope that gets fixed soon.
They could maybe be a bug with earphones?
Finally. Someone talked about the screen size. No one mentioned that you could change the size. I have to wear the glasses real tight for it not to be blurry. I would rather have a smaller screen and wear the glasses comfortably. Think I might have to give it a go.

Bought the beam and been installing many APKs on it. Have free streaming apps too. Made it worth it for me and no you dont have to jailbreak to do this. Works great been taking it everywhere.

@@tessmaria6682 you should trust me once you learn about it you'll love the device. You can literally install APKs on any android device as long as it supports it.

Because of watching your previous video comparing three VR glasses, I have decided on Xreal. I like the Beam because of the smooth follow and the storage... although a SD slot would have been more useful than the built in 32GB storage. I specifically want to watch 3D movies on the Pro 2 through VLC. Nobody has any information on this as of yet. I can watch 3D movies on a cheap headset with my cell as the screen but I'd rather use the VR glasses.
When in multiple screen mode, can we navigate across the screen using mouse just like we do the navigation in external monitor when using laptop/pc

What about using the XREAL Beam as a HUB for a PS5 console? Being that the PS5 has a lot of streaming apps. How do they look and perform via the XREAL Beam?
Doesn't the nebula app already have smooth follow built in?...and side view? I keep trying to figure out why I need the Beam and everything I'm seeing just feels outdated...like the glasses/nebula didn't already have it before but now they do so the Beam is useless now?....no body seems to be able to explain why I need it other than not having to be tethered to your phone, is THAT the only reason to get it?

But you should be allowed to use hand tracking with just the glasses or at least control them by voice alone and be able to adjust the screen that way. AR glasses aren’t there yet.

You can fast charge it to 50% in 30 minutes. Haven't clocked how long it takes for a full charge. And unfortunately as of this moment it doesn't appear that the Beam can read files from external storage.

Go into settings and toggle Depth Control on. You should be able to afterwards

Great video, but I haven't seen a video yet that actually shows you how to put videos onto the storage, or download apps onto it....
Have you tried mirroring your phone into the beam while it's charging? This way you can charge while watching, I have seen many people complaining about the poor software like you did, still ordered it with hope to reduce the motion sickness! If the xreal are serious about their business, they should fix the software issues in the coming updates
I bought the XREAL Pro and Beam less than 1 week ago. For me the Beam is worth it because I mainly use the XREAL for watching videos on Netflix and Prime and therefore the XREAL is connected only to the Beam freeing my phone.
how is the picture quality? is it the same for you? netflix with low res?
I think it is low res, I am however not bothered as for me it is like having a television in front of my eyes. I have also used the XREAL using my iPhone 15 to watch You Tube etc.@@marknoeldelica5169

You hit right on the head when it comes to the Beam. After waiting so long for apps only to find out that the quality sucks. The Beam would've been perfect if it just ran Android TV instead. Then I wouldn't be complaining bout it at all.
I do agree that the glasses should have those modes and I bet they will on the next gen ones. I don't think they are the the 2 glasses announced at CES recently.
Looking back at it now I should've just waited and order the Rokid Station instead. I'm not willing to spend $200 which is the asking price for it right now. $100 would be the max. At this time I'm having to hook up my Android TV box to it so that I could get a decent experience. It's such a shame on the quality. I will be looking into hacking it now as I wasn't planning to at the beginning as I wanted to wait it out to see what Xreal would do. I'll see how my other Android apps looks like but I rather just have Android TV period.
Edit: I just loaded a couple of apps and the picture quality is a lot better on those. I would say it's Netflix that is making their mobile app worst and not so much Xreal. This is a known fact already with prior Netflix apps. For example try loading up Netflix unofficial on any projector running Android TV. It's really a bad experience vs something official from them through the Play Store. I will try to load up the official app soon to see if there is any difference. I believe Prime Video was fine if I remembered correctly. I will be loading other steaming apps as well like Disney+ to see how it goes.
Do keep in mind that you could go into the app management setting to place the apps in Spitial as well or both. This will give you the option to do a static 2D app or us the Beams benefits of Smooth Follow or Anchor Mode. You could resize the screen size as well. I just hope the next update doesn't wipe out everything tho. We'll see I guess.
At this point would I say it's worth it? I guess so since we are able to load apps easily. Just load a proper browser that you could easily access to make downloading APKs a lot better. You could just install any 3rd party stores as well. I'm not sure if I will be loading official Google apps just yet tho.
Why are people using unofficial Netflix?

@@ruudygh there is no such thing as an unofficial Netflix app. It's just that Netflix has to be certified on any device that it's on. Don't ask me why cause I'm sure it's for profits or so. If you're fine with 480p then it doesn't matter. It seems like they're limiting the picture quality on unsupported devices. Prime video is doing the same thing as well.

Am i right thinking that if u have a phone that does not have usb c then you have to get the beam or buy a new phone. Is there any way round this.why cant you mirroe firectly fromyour phone ontop the glasses using bluetooth? Sorry I am not very technical !
Bluetooth can never support screen mirroring as it doesn't have the bandwidth for that. But you could do mirroring with WiFi for example. Back to the Xreals; they do support some form of mirroring but because of DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection, a lot of the apps won't mirror properly. Having said that, you certainly would not need to purchase a new phone if you don't have USB C. There are adapters you can purchase to get USB C from your phone.
I use the glasses whilst travelling to watch films in a hotel. I’ve also installed nebula on my Mac and it seems to show promise. Jury is out on the beam, I keep talking myself out of it.
I personally set my screen to the smallest size which makes body anchor work a lot better
This is the 4th video I see reviewing the glasses or the accessory, I'm looking for the reason why they call these "AR", I can't believe it's just a screen floating around like in the early 2000, just "better". Where's the AR part? I was expecting I could play AR games, leave the screen on one wall and find it when i get back.. you know, "AR"..
How to watch movies offline from XREAL Air 2 Pro AR Glasses on the plane, being unable to connect the beam to an external usb
Either through streaming apps on the beam (Netflix, for example), by downloading movies/series from within the Netflix app. Or by placing movie files on the beam (just like you would on an external drive).
What about the android app for it, nebula . What does it do? And sadly there seems to not be an app for pc .
I talked briefly about Nebula in my comparison review of the Xreals (ruclips.net/video/b5QvgYV-2zI/видео.html). There's 3dof within the Nebula space on Android, but it only works on a few compatible Androids. And there aren't many apps that can be installed within the Nebula AR space. There's a good Mac app that allows extended displays, and a Beta version for Windows that is currently in a poor state, but hopefully would be good once officially released.

Yes the Beam allows you to go a little larger, and also alter the apparent distance the screen is from you.

The Beam is only worth it to do the screen following thing to help some motion sickness. There is some capability to do some side-loading, but that is a pain in the rear. Otherwise, the built-in apps are relatively lacking and otherwise useless. Probably is required to use with a Nintendo Switch (but no power sharing between the devices as I think the Switch cannot provide power).
and I can't even connect my s22 ultra to beam by wire. It works by wireless, but the problem is it cant project Netflix. So the only way to watch Netflix is by connecting the glass directly to the smartphone. but then again, WHY am I buying this beam if I can't use it to watching Netflix using the smooth following features
I will wait until they make a device that can do everything the beam does without a separate beam accessory. I just hate the idea of having to use a separate tethered accessory. It's just another thing to keep up with that messes up the immersive experience.
Netflix is the only media you use? There's lots of other media that works well on the beam other than Netflix.
Fair point. It does come preloaded with Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos, and both of which have poor quality. You can download and store offline movie files on the Beam itself as well--but for someone who's looking to stream from the likes of Netflix and Prime, I'm not happy with the quality there.
I have a vr Lenovo mirage headset that has 6dof and it only gost me £20 and for the price suits my needs. I think I will give it a few more years before I splash my cash on s more compact pair of glasses like this. Sounds like xreal is just milking the consumer for as much as they can.

I don't think i would recommend to charge while using the beam. The thing already gets hot enough to a stable function.
Does your beam automatically turn on when you charge it? My beam automatically turns on when I plug in the cable.

I 100% agree with you on the Beam. I was unlucky and had it from the launch too. It has to be one of the worst devices ive ever owned to be honest. Even charging it is very finicky.

Make sure depth control is on from the settings
xreal has potential if they would go opensource... nebula on select Android or iPhone is lame... need PC support for multiple monitors

All this technology is so overhyped, over rated and over priced. I’m not buying any of it. One big deal breaker for me is that I would have ti oat extra to get prescription lenses. Without diopter adjustment built in there is absolutely no way I’ll be parting with my money.
Yep these glasses have been a big disappointment. That's why they just sit in the drawer. Nothing about them is good enough to make them actually useful.

It's not worthy at all. No power input that we can use more than 3 hours that gives battery, buggy as hell software and still many things isn't fixed. Not enough performance for most task. I do not recommend at all. Save your money, maybe for Beam 2 that will fix all the issues.

I think nebula is a gimmick. The AR space is next to useless. I don't understand the real use of it as the things presented there is not things i would use. It has youtube but limited functionality. Everything in that nebula app is limited
