Nikon D5100 Flash Not Opening Up

I Got a Nikon D5100 and the flash wasn't working, as it's not opening up, so I tried to personally fix

I drilled a 1.5 mm blind hole and screwed in a screw, the plastic is good, tough, and will hold.

Help, when I press the flash button it doesn't pop, but when I'm in auto mode it pops and fires but only once, i need to restart the camera before it to work again. My camera is Nikon D3300
