I’m gay and I understand both sides. I don’t think toys have any influence on your sexuality but Peter also has a right as a dad to try and give his child direction. That’s what my parents did. Once I was 18, my parents let me live my life the way I wanted too. I’m grateful that they allowed me to be me but also gave me guidance.

Agree 1000%, she did all that in retaliation for the way their story was portrayed on television. I don’t think it was so much about Peter telling his son he can’t wear the ladybug outfit. I think there is a deeper issue here, Peter embarrassed Amina on TV multiple times by cheating on her, trying to get back with Tara and having a baby on her. She’s hasn’t properly healed from it that’s why she felt she could embarrass him like that and it’s wrong.

I'm on Peter's side for once. Kid's can be cruel, heck, society in general can be cruel and I know that all too well, so when my daughter comes to me with toys or costumes that society deemed back in the day, are for little boys, my natural reaction is to say, "hey you know those are for boys right?". That doesn't mean I'm against people for who they choose to be or who they choose to love, it's just a natural reaction I have, to protect my daughter from being made fun of. Now if my daughter insists that she wants the thing in question, of course I get it for her. I just want to make sure she's deciding on something because it's what she wants that way I can back her up if she needs me to. I want my daughter to make her own educated choices, to the absolute best of her ability and I want her to understand that sometimes consequences come with those choices. We need to be fully open with our children, and unfortunately these days, that includes exposing them to the hate they might receive, but also teaching them to rise above it and be better than that. We can't expect change and progress, without openness and honesty. People fear things they don't understand. I could care less if my daughter loves men or women, wants kids or doesn't and so on, but that doesn't mean I don't want her to understand why she feels that way and that feeling that way is okay, but that it may bring hate her way from others around her. She needs to be prepared for it so she can learn ways to deal with it.

(Of it matters, I’m bisexual and from a family that isn’t the most LGBT friendly but this didn’t feel abrasive to me)

I'm with Peter on this one. He simply just pointed out what is for girls, and what is for boys. Now granted, what is considered for boys and for girls can be deabted. But I personally think it's important for kids to understand the difference, so when they get older (like Peter said), they'll know the difference, and then can make their own choices.
