- WES FODERINGHAM SIGNS FOR WEST HAM | INSPIRATIONAL OR PRACTICAL CHOICE? | PLAYER ANALYSIS
Wes Foderingham becomes West Ham's second summer signing but fans do not seem to be that inspired?
Is he that bad a keeper? Or, does last season at Sheffield United paint a very different picture to what he has achieved and is capable of?

one for the homegrown quota (check) -- Trott and Anang had to move on for their own careers -- happy to have Foderingham as back up if Areola or Fabs get injured -- we can upgrade, if needed, when Fabs moves on -- what's Foderingham like with his feet?
Agreed regarding Anang and Trott.
Apparently, Foderingham is a decent ball distributor
Shame some of the HG keepers never got a chance but Prem experience and HG to replace Anang for squad numbers, don't think we can complain for a 3rd choice keeper.
I do wonder whether Trott might have been worth a try as third choice
I'm really quite happy with Wes as our third goalkeeper Stel. Primarily signed as a training ground goalkeeper, he is a Londoner, a free signing and is happy to be here. Can anyone name a better choice because I can't. With Anang and Trott being released, you could be right that Hedji is being 'groomed' to be challenging Wes for the second goalkeeper slot, once Fabianski leaves next year.
It will be interesting to see what role he plays next season but it fills a spot in the squad and it’s a cheap option as well
He’s not the worst keeper in the world
Third choice experienced keeper on the cheap who could push Fabs for cup keeper, will warm the bench and help on the training pitch. Does not have to be inspiring really.
True enough
'33-year-old 3rd choice keeper on a free' is about as dull as transfers get. I'm surprised the BBC even did a news item on it. But his real value is in being homegrown.
That’s really the bottom line I guess
Lopetegui was originally a gk so with Xavi Valero you would presume they know if someone is competent and just unfortunate to be behind a worst defence than ourselves.
A third choice keeper is necessary to maintain a quality in training so that our first team don’t have it easy in front of goal. Also a quality third choice keeper minimises injuries to the number 1&2.
Our academy players will improve quicker playing with seasoned players away from the club.
Will he be a third choice though Bill?
I wonder if he’ll push Fabianski for that second goalie slot
@@WESTHAMVOICE this is what our goal keeping situation needs Stel, look how Fabianski took being demoted to Areola, but Areola didn’t have anyone behind him who could challenge him, If Areola wanted to just put his feet up until Fabianski was injured, then there was no one there to take his spot. Now there is, each gk will be having a large look over their shoulders to see if anyone is genuinely upping their game. Two challenging any position has expected consequences, three challenging means real rotation is possible without any detriment to that position, purposeful changes to tactics is then possible with three.
Let’s hope he keeps the bench warm
Sorry on this one Stel I didn’t see too many teams chasing him
There must be something in Fodder that J Lo sees overlooked talent……..
He can’t be as bad as many people think
We need to overlook what happened last season and consider his ability over his career which isn’t that bad
Let's hope he is a pearl diver and not a muff diver
😂😂
Underwhelming Stel for me,it’s definitely a Meh for me?Doubt very much he plays much in his two year contract hopefully as he’s our third keeper.
Anang departure might force a Kudus earlier than expected this season,he might be more pissed off than most,as they built up a good friendship care of both being Ghanaian.
I’m more concerned about departures Stel as opposed to incomings, squad is thin and old and all our younger players are departing.Flynn Downes 24,Ben Johnson 24,Kudus 23,Alvarez 25,Anang 22,Bowen 26,Aguerd 26.The aging players we’d like to get rid of nobody appears interested in,Ings 32,Coufal 32,Cresswell 34,Fabianski 39,and we bring in a 33 year old keeper.
Your views please mate to dispel my pessimism, great work on your channel as always Stel.
Just released a video this morning mate covering all the latest rumours
I don’t believe for a minute that the likes of kudus will be leaving
And we’ve just enquired about jaden philogene from hull city
We must be so excited with that. NOT
We need outfielders, not 3rd choice keepers.
I hear you but it’s a spot that needed to be filled within the squad
@@WESTHAMVOICE
It was already filled Stelios.
With younger keepers.
This guy is there for money & that is all.
Sad thing is, his wages could go on transfers.
After Luis signed, im convinced, especially with Sullivans record, we will sign 1 more, rather than the 6 predicted.
Im all for JLO, but he will walk for sure.
Can't wait to get his name on the back of my Goalkeeper jersey.
Is it a pound a letter? 😂
😂
He's not been the greatest but maybe with a bit of confidence he will shine...He is what it is a third rank back up...
Can you see him perhaps pushing for that second keeper slot?
@@WESTHAMVOICE Not really.
What’s happening to all the new players
He is a new player
Well new for West Ham 😂
I think Fabs is off. Wes hasn't signed for no 3.
Be interesting to see if that happens
This is a Moyes buy
Absolutely
When Newcastle trashed Sheffield utd foldingham kept making mistakes especially he's distribution giving the ball to their strikers who scored he is Crap
Let’s see what happens with him at west ham mate
Are we supposed to be excited Stel not for me poor keeper
I don’t think he is a poor keeper mate, but he did have a poor season. But then so did the whole of Sheffield United. Perhaps we don’t want to spend money on a keeper so that we have more for outfield players
