I'm recovering from my own medical missteps, including the same illness, so I hope you are coming through relatively unscathed. I just picked up RF4s for the PC because I remembered Tides of Destiny for the Wii, and another for the 3DS, and enjoyed them many years ago. (wow. feeling old...) Thank you for this series of crafting and cooking and suchlike as I try to figure out what's going on with the game. I'm enjoying flailing around, but so much of the crafting/forging/cooking isn't intuitive and can be very frustrating. Thank you !

I'm still stuck at the part you explain at 04:55-ish. Tried making the magic ring with adding a happy ring, a champ belt and a heart pendant, but the tooltip says it gives only +MDEF. Barret says the things used in the making of the ring though, do they give then their effects? Is there a way to make them appear in the tooltip?

I am about 50 hours into my Hard Mode playthrough of Rune Factory 4 Special. I didn't have to bother too much with the crafting system, but as the enemies get tougher it seems I will have to learn how to properly craft in the end. My one issue is that it's hard to tell what type of materials you can and can't use. I wish the system was more straight forward for noobs like myself. Thank you for this guide, I kinda get it now. Hopefully I can get past this boss with a little more crafting/upgrades...
i’ve literally dumped 800 hours into rf4/s and read the crafting/forging guides so many times and still didn’t understand it fully until now. you should do soil stats/leveling next! crazy good work here

Hi! I reelcently stumbled across your rf4 videos and it rekindled my love for the game. Thank you for that. I was actually wondering if you have any research material for getting the crafting skills (forge,craft,chemistry) to 50 to start using the rarity and level bonuses.
So something im a little confused by why do we only use 3 upgrades? Why not as many as you can? something else im trying to understand is when forging do the stats on what your putting in matter or only the rarity/level? for example if i forge a broadsword with 1 iron then put in 5 more iron do the DEF stats in the forging process matter? i think im close to wrapping my head around all this xD!
Hi! I would like to ask about accessories. I’d like to have art of attack, art of magic, magic charm (cause i’m lazy to build another magic build), and Talisman. But I also want it to have the stats of Courage Badge. Is this possible or do I have to remove one of my 4 main accessory. Thank you so much and nice videos :))

I wish my game didn't have some weird bug that made it format itself. I started it up one day and it gave me a message that went something like "save formatting complete" as if it was something I did but I did nothing and that not a option anywhere in the settings. I emailed the devs support staff but they never offered a fix. I had to stop playing I couldn't start over on PC because if the bug happened again I don't even want to think of what I would do. I kinda wanted to buy it on switch too but I decided to wait for 5. This happened a few months ago now but with 5 now just 2 days away I'm very excited for it.

I watched some of your videos and they helped out. I just have one question, why is it that some items list a resistance modifier but do not give them? For example curry and spices iirc.
Good question! That's because they do different things---the curry and spices grant you their "effects" if you eat them, not if you upgrade them. That's why it's listed as [Effects] instead of [Upgrade Info]. That isn't compleeeetely cut and dry, though. Oil has its effect listed as [Effects], but it also has "invisible" upgrade info, so your best bet might be to check the datamine compendium for full info.

It’s definitely a bit tricky; someone else already asked this as well so it’s not too uncommon a problem, and it’s not helped by the fact the game has a lot of “hidden” effects (eg. Sacred Pole grants you 100% Water Res just for holding it without it telling you…)

example using 4 or 5 Grimoire scales for the same 450 vit 150 Str/Int but will have a higher Item Rarity (which the closer you get to 200 the better) you most of the time will have to Reset if trying to get 3 different items using some of the items from the main recipe
Specifically mentioned Grimoire Scales cause they are Easy to farm until you can take out the Terrable in Garden of Light Which gives 300 vit for -10 str (good for mage builds who need to not be SQUISHY)
Very good point!! Though fwiw I like to use Turnip Heaven as my extra filler, since it has max rarity, but you can also get them at Lv 10 pretty easily too to max that out!
A good idea for arc 3 if you have the Crafting and Forging level maxed is to farm the Grimoire for Grimoire scales and take your 1hp Attack weapon (ANY WEAPONS BUT STAVES Upgraded with Scrap metal Plus) and Farm for 10 fold steel Goals for end game are a pair of 1hp attack dual blades (Made with 3 Melody Bottles) Upgrade path: Scrap Metal Plus, Melody Bottle, 10 Fold Steel and 1hp Any weapon Scrap Metal Plus, Love Crystal With these 2 weapons you can Tame monsters faster and Train Resistances faster. For any Weapons or armor make it with 3 slots of Grimoire scales (reforged if necessary) (you can pass down the stats and STILL use 3 items) Basically you are gonna make all of the best in slot gear for that point in the game and make the BIS of the Single Item Crafts that you have the highest Item Rarity for (Penguin down, Orichalcum) (for early arc 3 BIS head gear is the Four Seasons) IR13 (orichalcum/Penguin down), BIS Level 10, Grimoire Scale Grimoire Scale, Grimoire Scale, Grimoire Scale Upgrade path Grimoire Scale 10 Fold Steel if done across 4 slots of armor and the weapon, you end up with 3000 STR 9000 Vit, 3000 Int. which is enough to help you survive Rune Prana for a while. (it was also how I survived my level 1 hell mode playthrough on my channel). if using a mage build you can swap Grimoire Scales for Dragon Fin/Earthwyrm Scales and move the Grimoire Scales to Step 3 the Double Steel (Step 4)
Haven't tested it with accessories but if it also works there that is 3600 str, 10800 Vit, 3600 int. AKA you doing a lot of damage no matter which class you are playing as
