      Heating up the frame rails before pulling them might have prevented them from cracking, and saved a lot of extra repair work.

    It's wild how much the frame rail moved when you had tension on it and were whacking it with the hammer for stress relief. I "knew" you had to do it but never saw it in action like that. Great shot ben!

    Always love your content Ben. You’re a knowledgeable body and frame guy. To be honest I can’t see how splicing in a set of new junkyard frame rails wouldn’t have been the right solution. No doubt the welded plates look nice and are strong but I doubt a future buyer would want to discover a repair like that later on.

    With Vevor being a sponsor I might suggest you edit the thumbnails with inexpensive frame machines Ben. Also, you should consider not referring to the inexpensive tools you have used to repair things as cheap Chinese tools. Not trying to start a comment section fight. Just don’t want you to alienate your audience or potential sponsors. We love the work you are doing, helping use see what can be done on a budget. Nice work, really enjoyed this budget build!!

    Just curious by welding plates on the frame rails will it interfere with the safety crumple zones ? In case it was to be in another crash .I know it's going to be a shop truck ,I'm just wondering if it really would matter .

    • @ares9304
      @ares9304 7 месяцев назад +10

      Strictly speaking, the crumple zone is already fucked, even if you cut and weld in a new piece, you've still changed it. Weld is tougher so it's gonna change the way the metal forms in a crash.
      In practice though, that small section isn't going to make much of a difference. I'm sure it's measurable for a structural engineer, but in a real-world scenario, it's not going to come between you living or dying.

  • @TiffCat
