Small Tip for Polaris: Units with skate can still benefit from roads. If a unit with skate is on a tile with road and that tile is also adjacent to some ice, their movement will have the same behavior as if they were on ice. Basically, roads give you some more leeway with using moonis or sleds.
5:26 this bardur warrior taught me something new; always move your moonis before attacking, you could've hit it without retaliation. I might be wrong if it is always a good idea to move your moonis first but in that specific situation it would've helped
You’re totally right; I noticed that too when I was editing. I was playing on a timer with the live match rules so I made a few dumb mistakes. See if you can find them all lol.
Thank you very much! I’m glad these are helpful to you. I usually assume that viewers are pretty experienced, but maybe I should start thinking about beginner-oriented topics.
5:32 Should have waited with hitting him 'til after freezing. 7:13 It hurts that the very first thing you do after capturing isn't upgrading the city for a free star. 8:32 Yes. Attacker HP does not matter at all against catapults, since they have 0 defence. You'll always get the full 4.5 points of damage per attack score. Great to attack catapults with the nearly dead units when feasible.
Ha yeah it hurt me to see that too. It was a live match so sometimes when you’ve got like 60 seconds to take your turn you make mistakes. I didn’t check the time stamps, but upgrading immediately isn’t always the best move. It depends if that 1 spt outweighs whatever else you needed to do next turn. Thanks for the tip
@@DrockTalk Not in this case. It already had one pop. You'd spend four stars and immediately get five back. You'd be able to do more even on the SAME turn.
hey, the video format is perfect, like you give theory and then practise to show how it works ! Thanks for your videos ! As the opening moves with cymanti and oumaji, this video is super helpful so thanks !
Thanks! That’s a very good point. Spawning next to a lighthouse seems unfair lol. That one population might save you from buying an extra tech to level up, and in the early game 2 stars might be half of your income for the turn.
At 7:27, one way to keep track of you've already moved your units is by looking at the icon that shows what type of unit it is. If there's a white border on the icon, it means that you haven't moved that unit this turn. Hopefully that'll protect your future riders!
this is life changing tip :) I have a ton of such problems esp with aquarion as their 2 main units both have escape skill; wish it was actually green boarder so it could be spotted easier
Lol yeah, the auto freeze and the way the tech tree is rearranged is a game changer. I want to play Polaris more now that I realize how many options there are in a given match.
Aw thanks for staying up haha. This one took much longer than expected. It was originally going to be 4 tribes, but it didn’t flow well and it got kinda long.
On medium to large water maps I do get two moonis. This allows me to explore further faster and claim the middle of the map as well as more cities. Since the cities can be far apart on a water map, moving far fast is good.
Recognition of the superiority of great empires, trade agreements, vassalization, ultimatums and gifts of stars to other tribes must be brought into play.
That’s how I already play behind the screen. Don’t you? Star trading with allies would be an interesting feature though. There would have to be some sort of communication system though.
@@DrockTalk It would be much more fun and strategic if things like asking our ally for military support or resource support against an enemy tribe, or offering war preparations against a tribe, were in the game.
You could organize a group on the Polytopia discord and play with voice chat to do some of that. It wouldn’t be built into the UI, but if you set up 2v2 matches with separate chat channels for each team you could probably accomplish most of what you said.
lol that sounds pretty funny to attempt. If I come out of my break I might start with that. You say it’s broken, but that sounds hard to pull off to me.
Drock can you explain how i got so lucky with yadakk i litterally spawned on the edge of the map and it already showed me the lighthouse and guess what after i moved my warrior by doing the yadakk opening it showed a city with a ruin it in and then after i did 2 more moves another city but this time 2 ruins 1 on its capture range and 1 in its outer range just so close and the 3 ruins were capital level up
I once had an oumaji game, where through from my capitol and a ruin, I got two explorers find three of the corners of the map, and I spawned next to the last one. turn 4 eye of god monument, turn 5 giant. (this was tiny drylands, but still very lucky nonetheless.)
They’re pretty good in certain situations. If you’re in a position to use multiple against one city then you can really nullify your opponent’s game plan.
I don't think you can even place it on the map on drylands lol. I never thought about that, I just wouldn't pick Polaris on dryland because half of their special abilities would be useless.@@dionerhodes1308
True. They can be countered by a strong navy though with the ability to move and break ice in the same turn. You’ve got to send scouts forward to break the ice, then use bombers to control the area. They might make more ice and kill your scouts, but if you plan well and keep hammering them, they’ll eventually run out of freezing units and you can start to push them back.

Roads next to ice function as ice??

Keep making this content, its so enjoyable ❤
Great Video! i only want to add that if you spawn near lighthouse, you can upgrade your capital Turn1 if you can place outpost

Polaris post naval update is a whole different tribe…
Lol yeah, the auto freeze and the way the tech tree is rearranged is a game changer. I want to play Polaris more now that I realize how many options there are in a given match.
Just was about to go to bed good video as always..... Also happy new year

Tnx 4 the video. Im going 2 try a cpl of the things u suggested & c if it works. 😁👍

Thank you! It took me forever lol.
Polaris can quickly take over the map if left unsupervised. Very threathening tribe

can you update the link for your discord server
Can do. In this video or on my channel’s homepage?
Can you please try ice archers and mind benders it’s broken

My sources say, divine intervention of the cuboidal type. We’re rich!

Turn 5 giant with eye of god must be some type of record! I like the lighthouses way more than the old explorer task.
You like ice archers?
They’re pretty good in certain situations. If you’re in a position to use multiple against one city then you can really nullify your opponent’s game plan.
@@DrockTalk I love doing that but haven't been able to get in that position very often at all
@@ThePolysaur yeah, I find that sleds are more useful most of the time. If you’re on dryland though ice archers are more reasonable.
How to play it in dryland?
Maybe I’ll come back to that, but I would say riders, ice archers, roads, and eventually knights.
The icebox is great on dryland as well.

Polaris is op not can just freeze freeze and freeze and just stall the game until you’re economy id booming and you’re making bank then take over
