I never had the internet when I started just a local library with just a few books on magic effects so now decades later in my life I have a new way of appreciating my love of magic learning so much and having so many magicians in my room through my computer screen to be inspired . Learn From . Laugh with. And watch them grow in the magic community.♥♠♦♣
I have nothing to write here today to you. You said everything so perfect I'm speechless. I have nothing to add or offer. You're perfectly imperfect. You Are Art. If it wasn't for people teaching me stuff on social media I would've never picked up a deck of cards again (about 10 years ago). I can't learn from books and reading...I learn from auditory and visual queues. I need the secrets exposed so that I can be one fo the new guys that want to help aid in a new generation of magic performers.
@@Chronyql I wouldn't ever think of leaving... I'm glad for magicians like you on the internet. And on top of that a human like you. I can tell you you're a deep thinker. I resonate with people like you wholeheartedly.
the video felt like 1 minute, you struck the heart with your words. this is what i love about you, Jeremy. the depth of your videos is beyond everything on youtube. and one more thing... FUCK THE ALGORITHM!
As a wise magician said.( We tend to loose our perceptions of magic when you begin the journey.) Just step back and remember the first time you ever saw a trick, how simple it was and baffled you.. i will never forget that first simple trick that blew my mind. Pick a card loose it in the deck and just take it out. That moment really gave a sense of wonder. And now as a magician we tend to loose it. It's important to remember that!
Great words, I think it's super important to remember that and give that sense of wonders to others. I performed 2 card monte on my supervisor, and over an hour later he was still wondering how I did it and I could not stop laughing because I gave a grown adult that sense of wonder 😂
Thank you for your intellectual perspective. You have made my world better with your tutorials about card magic. I love your magic escape room. I need one!
and another great video from you.... ill say it once again: you managed to bring NEW things on social media concerning magic with this cannel, from the very start. And that wasnt an easy task, since everything that existed to that point was achieved in the first ten creators that ever came on the internet
Damn it Jeremy these are some great words. Growing up I never got to see close up magic and was only exposed to it from tv such as David Blaine and Criss Angel. I always wanted to learn but didn't have access til I discovered a RUclips channel teaching sleights and decided to buy cards and try to learn. It's been 5 years, I've not only refound my passion but also the desire to perform for people. Thank you for this video!
Jeremy, I'm speechless. I've never had anyone formulate into words the deep feelings I felt when I was first introduced to magic. To those that cheapen and taint the thrill (as you so eloquently said here) - you're missing out on a whole world of deeper self understanding and awareness. I loved the example you gave of porn vs marriage as this is exactly what I feel like it's like. You are cheapening a beautiful and deeper experience. "Do not focus on the pointing finger or you will miss the moon in all its glory"
Earned my sub -- and I had no idea who you were until I clicked on the link. (And I only have two other magic channels subscribed -- Erudite Magic and Conjurers Community. On reflection, that algorthym might be pretty damn smart.)
Hey just wanted to say I love your videos! The insight, introspection, and analysis is top notch, and your interviews with other greats are very well done. Thank you!
yt randomly recommended this to me in their feed, and I'm glad for that. I'm an older amateur magician, and sleights are becoming pretty impossible due to developing arthritis. but I still know how to misdirect and more importantly, how to engage and enthrall those watching. I really like the way you think, and am happy to have found your channel.
i'm gonna watch whatever you put out, no matter what, no matter how long between posting. you put out quality content and i appreciate the work and care you put in.
MIC DROP!!! Damn yours words were like that part in Jerry McGuire when Jerry spoke facts but everyone else was afraid to say it. Applauds brother...effins applauds!
Thanks to Lloyd’s recommendation to check your content out I think I found one of magic’s greatest thinkers on RUclips. Magic has survived after theMasked Magician and many other disclosed secrets because we as humans want to believe in magic. Miracles give us hope. Even the most hardened disbelievers secretly want a magic moment of unexplainably. When you perform perfect slights fluidly without thinking and you don’t believe magic just happened in your hands, find another profession or hobby.
Im ok with whatever Jeremy chosea to put out or when ! I only came across him last week and he seems v articulate, thoughtful and a fantastic card expert
You summed up everything I was thinking in 3 words! " Fuck the algorithm " So happy got to see your video after all this while... Watching this makes me feel that AI is not driving us anymore when people like you exist! Much love brother! ❤🤘🏻
If you were looking for Elevation then this was it. Very well said. If you’ll excuse me I need to go click subscribe on your channel and then scroll through your other videos. Thank you.
1. Just search “Ricky Jay and his 52 Assistants” here on YT 2. Helder did a couple Zoom shows during lockdown. You’ll only ever catch his stuff live I’m afraid. 3. Steve Cohen is much the same. You’ll have to catch him live, but they have done some documentaries that catch hos performances. 4. Ben has a membership called the Family. Worth every second 5. Steve Valentine had a biographical show he did in a small theater in Studio City several years ago. That’s where he told the story of the Russian. 6. In and Of Itself - watch it. It will change you
One aspect of content is the "up/down ratio". Currently it is 456/5 up- to down-votes here. As in many presentations that seem very well done, my question is: What about this could possibly warrant the down-votes?
6:30 - I love Paul Wilson, his videos are spectacular, but he is someone who is doing this kind of gatekeeping. As a resident of a third world country, Brazil, as you can imagine: I am not a fluent speaker of the language in which most magic books are written, namely English. Nonetheless, I have learned the language and nowadays I am able to consume content in English. This means that content for learning magic in Brazil is highly limited, Frederick Braue, Jean Hugard, Erdnase, none of them even have translations into Portuguese, and the few books available on magic in Brazil leave much to be desired. Certain countries do not have "magic" as a cultural tradition, as is the case with countries like the United States and Europe. The cost of acquiring anything related to magic in Brazil is at least three times higher than in the United States/Canada/Europe, our currency has much lower purchasing power and shipping fees are expensive. I thank Jeremy for acknowledging that not everyone can have access to these types of content as easily as residents of the United States and Europe. Just because magic is not widely spread in our culture does not mean that we wouldn't like to learn it. Just for the record, once, I ask to Jeremy what are the names of 3 or 4 moves I saw in one of his videos on Instagram and you kindly answer me. I thank you then and thank you once again
Well said. I’ve had this discussion with Paul in the past. He is one of the most prolific creators of Magic I can think of. And as a result, I’ve also witnessed people take his material and perform it as their own. So I can understand his hesitation with just opening the flood gates on everything he’s created, because it is still very much part of his professional livelihood. That being said, there is plenty of material from people who have either long since passed, or don’t care if it’s shared, or are doing the sharing themselves. The argument about whether tutorials belong on YT became moot the moment the first tutorial was uploaded. Now I also think it’s fair to credit your sources, and ask permission when it’s possible. But if it’s public domain… then nothing should stand in the way of someone accessing the information if they’re interested in it. That’s quite literally the only way that new magicians are born!
Hey there. Thank you 😊 the quality may be due to the fact that you watched it right after I posted, so it may not have finished processing the 4K footage. Let me know if that persists, yeah?
