    I had a short bob cut in january. I liked how it looked, but for me the haitstyle was too inconvenient. So I am growing it back to armpit-length, as I had it before. I have now reached the infamous shoulder-length stage ,where the hair curls outwards and makes you look like a housewife in the 70s :D

    You're so right about parting your hair on the heavier side. One of my eyes is more hooded than the other and I used to part my hair over the bigger eye to hide the other, but it made things even worse. Now I part it over the smaller side and my face looks much healthier.

    I got my long hair cut into a longbob a couple of months ago...couldn’t be happier. I did get an undercut though...my tip for women who struggle with really thick, somewhat unruly hair. Having a couple cm in the neck removed makes my hair lay nice and flat in the back, even if I don’t have time to flat iron it. And when I do use the flat iron, it’s much less work without having to fiddle around with shorter strands. And it’s completely unnoticeable when I wear my hair open. It’s visible when I tie my hair back, of course, but I only do that to wash and in the gym now. It’s so much nicer and easier to care for than long hair, imo.

      Hey, best bring a picture!
      Just google 'bob with undercut' there a different versions, some more extreme than others. Kinda depends on your hairtype, too.
      Although by now, a decent hairdresser should be familiar with the concept, it's become quite popular lately. A lot of people seem to wear it as a fashion statement, rather than convenience.

    • @slavmetal
      @slavmetal 6 лет назад +5

      I agree! I got an undercut almost 3 years ago and I've still got it. It's the best thing I've ever done for my hair, which is super thick, frizzy and generally an untameable mess. As you said, it's invisible with your hair down, but it looks really cool with your hair up too.

      This also helps with headaches. I used to get headaches all the time but having short hair that's shaved in the back made a world of difference considering I never realized the two thing were related.

  • @MrsBungle78

    That 80's photo is hilarious! Literally a photo of the same hair style...& you know that was completely unintentional! It was just the 80's go-to!
    I was going to say a bob is probably the most universal hairstyle too- so many variations to choose from. There's something for everybody!
    My problem is that I love my hair super short but also in a bob, just above my shoulders (my hair does NOT look good past my shoulders. It just isn't flattering on me). I can't decide on one! I cut my hair short & I love it but it requires a lot of salon upkeep & eventually I get sick of the constant trips to the hairdresser (not to mention how hard it is to find someone who is truly good at cutting short hair), so I grow it out. After months of painstaking grow out & horrible "grow-out hairstyles" I finally get it to the length I want but it's soooo hard to look after after the ease of short hair! Washing & styling is a longer, harder process. Plus it's sooo hot in summer! I couldn't handle suddenly having all this hot, heavy hair on my neck! So I eventually get sick of it & cut it short again! Then I get annoyed at myself for wasting all of the time it took to grow out. I keep it short but quickly remember all of the annoying issues of short hair & eventually start to grow it again...& so goes the endless cycle! I've been doing this for years! I wish I could settle on one & stick to it for a couple of years at least!🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

      I'm struggling with this exact thing right now! I hate it below my shoulders but it grows so quickly and touches my neck and tickles me. I came out of my last haircut looking like Bieber so now I'm doing the annoying grow-out.

    • @ramblerjam
      @ramblerjam 6 лет назад +1

      I feel you on this! Only maybe i'm worse lol - i like only super long or a bob, not a long bob but rather just above, below, or to the chin. Every other length i hate (for myself). And my face is long so i should stay with short but my personality suits very long, or rather is divided strongly between loving short and punky and loong and wild. Frustrating haha! So much time spent with the in between lengths i don't enjoy!

  • @gchungus
    @gchungus 6 лет назад +7

    I got my hair cut this exact length a couple days ago (middle of the neck) when I donated 12 inches! I have really thick hair, so I was super worried about having triangle hair, but after watching your video, I'm going to wait it out and see how my hair decides to sit after getting used to the cut. As always, very informative video that makes me feel beautiful!

    You have an excellent point.
    At the end of the day, being raised on Disney princess movies and now being a Game of Thrones fan, I just love my long hair!
    I am a theatrical romantic with 3A curls that still keep their volume at belly button length, so I think it works. :) I also sometimes think my head looks small (I guess I'm used to other petite girls being gamines), so, I tend to like more hair to even out the proportions in my mind.

    My hair has always been so long and when I was thinner it looked flattering but as my body grew wider and curvier the hair was just dragging my face down. I appeared bottom heavy and brought the attention to my lower half. In a transformation phase I went for a long bob and oh my god! Love it! It balances my lower curvy pear shape and I feel so much stylish even on my least stylish days. Thank you for this informative video even though I did the cut before the video. I was always self-conscious that my face was asymmetrical and even though other people wouldn't always notice, it was always something I would see -- my chin and cheek area are slightly heavier on one side. Because of this, I parted my hair so that more hair would cover that part of my face, so I thought that by eliminating some of the weight on this side that I was balancing my face; however, I just tried parting it on the other side with your recommendation and it looks so much better. I always thought something was wrong but I couldn't put my finger on it -- Thank You for helping me!

Over the years I've had different variations of a concave bob (shorter at the neck & angled longer to a point toward the front- I have one in my profile pic) but one I had years ago did exactly this! It was too thin/light at the front so when I walked down the street my hair kind of flapped like dog ears or something! I felt like when a dog hangs its head out of a car window!

    Just as a bit of feedback: I cut my hair into a bob a few months ago after watching this video and have now grown it out into a long bob. My body type is Soft Natural. To be completely honest, I can't wait till I have grown it all back! I think it looks great on other people, but for me, even with it being elongated around the face, I just feel it is not feminine enough for my body type and makes me feel bulkier and masculine. I believe Kibbe says that this body type is better with a medium-long flowing hairstyle and at least from my experience I must say I agree with him. I would be interested in hearing other people's experiences

    I got this haircut last week :) I really like it but I probably got the layering wrong... the volume I get in the back is crazy. It's a really versatile haircut, but, in my opinion, it requires at least some styling everyday to look pretty (and I, as a lazy long straight haired person, am not used to give this kind of attention to my hair)

    I agree about parting your hair. I have a pixie cut and part it so the fringe is brushed toward my less hooded eye. I think it emphasises my more hooded eye and I find hooded eyes kinda are sexy.

    I agree However, I really think it looks disproportionate on me because I'm tall and curvy with a kind of long face and thin volume-less hair texture that looks so flat and not thick, it's long right now. I can just imagine feeling unfeminine with this hairstyle. Like if you are a woman with thick hair or volume I say go for it but it takes the right Hair Texture. I have very classic Scandinavian thin hair and there's no use trying to make it look thick and curly because it would not last though the day. I need to give the same advice to you who are tall, have a long face and have my hair texture. Cutting your hair will just make you look older! ((experience))

    I used to cut my hair into a pixie but i let it grow a few months ago, i felt like it accentuated the roundness in my face. It's interesting how many types of a bob exist. My hair is side parted and straight, i have a kind of bob shorter in the front and longer in the back. I want to cut it into a straight bob, but i used to have one and the "dog ears" effect is the reason i'm not sure if i should go for that straight bob. We'll see. Thank you so much for this video, came just in time. 💕

    I had long hair and two years ago i cut it into a bob... last year i decided i want a pixie cut. I liked it but i hate the fact that the hairstylist didnt really make it as i wanted. It looked nice but not that great. Now i am waiting for my hair to grow back. I loved it how it looked when it was a bob. Probably the best hair length for my head/body.

    I have a very small and angular face with a very pointy chin. 6 years ago I had my hair cut right to the chin and I've never regretted more a hair decision lol. I know a lot of people say short hair is easier to deal with, but in my case it's exactly the opposite. Having natural straight long hair gives me a world of possibilities, while short hair was a pain in the ass to straighten, curl, color and dry. Next time I get a really drastic haircut it will be a really boy-ish one.

    Highlighting or balayage is not recommended for curly hair. Straight hair and somewhat wavy hair has a mostly flat surface and so light can bounce off it. The darker and more one dimensional, the more shiny hair is.
    Curly hair has multiple dimensions and therefore absorbs light. If you have lighter colored curly hair, level six or higher, highlighting or balayage can make it look just awful. I have typical white girl natural curls (like a ginger version of Taylor Swift or Debra Messing’s hair when they wear it naturally curly, for reference.
    I’m getting some white hair around the front of my face and it makes me look really washed out. I asked my hairdresser about maybe highlighting a few streaks or creating just one white streak in the front to incorporate things, and she said that trying to add more highlights would look even worse. You see, because it’s adding more lightness so there is less possibility or light to bounce off it. If I try to color it over in red, it will look cheap, Pretty much no matter what day you use. After age 40, really bright bright red copper hair is not natural and fantasy colors like burgundy and primary red can go bad very quickly.
    We’ve all seen the women who have the super bright red hair that they’ve died when they are 70 and it looks really jarring.
    The only things I have found that are subtle enough for my type of hair are refreshing glosses that are just a hint of color like the Madison Reed or Redkenntype. Even those need to be diluted at a ratio o 1 to 3 of argan or jojoba oil and the gloss so things don’t work harsh.
    Another option, is color preserving shampoo. Copper can be tricky and so I recommend one in Strawberry blonde, dark blonde that is golden, or Rosegold.
    You can even mix them if you like. Rose gold adds a bit of red without looking purple or weird if you get a good one. Only shampoo with it twice a week and leave it on for a few minutes to keep a subtle pretty look.
    Similarly, you can mix glosses together to lighten them up a little bit. So maybe you get a copper gloss that is way too harsh. Get a honey blonde or clear gloss , using a rose gold shampoo brings back a little bit of the color without looking weird.
    Anything with heavier color looks weird, heavy, and tacky. We all want to look elegant and sophisticated. So, I hope that tip can help somebody with lighter colored curls .

    I have thick, wavy hair and have gone from a buzz-cut to waist long. I guess I'm too lazy to do much styling so if it's short, no problem. It its long, ponytail. If it's in between, I fuss and fuss and am never happy. However, I always get the most compliments when it is shoulder length.

    My body type is closest to Romantic or TR and I have pin straight Asian hair that never hold curls even if I set it or get a perm. I've been told that I look more mature with waist length hair and my mom 'accidentally' cut it up to my shoulders, I got so sad because my hair was so healthy but I noticed when I curled my hair like Old Hollywood hair and makeup for prom I looked youthful. I think shorter and bodied hair makes full features like mine stand out too!

    • @rainbowcake4771

      Ximena CC Why would you want a defined jaw? I have a square super defined jaw and I hate it, I feel like it makes me look too masculine and I can't really wear feminine hairstyles. Most female celebs with defined jawlines (Brooke Shields, Keira Knightley etc) get called transgender and I myself have been called that. Please embrace what you have, you are very lucky to have a youthful feminine face. Besides scientific research has shown fuller faces with smaller/softer jawlines are more attractive. But if you really really want to make your face more defined try facial massages and losing weight.

    Over ten years ago I had my long, curly blonde hair cut to a bob and I loved it. I wore it like this for more than 9 years, sometimes shorter (chinlength), sometimes longer (shoulderlength). But as I gained some weight and got older I didn´t like it quite as much on me. On most women I feel shorter is better. For me short cuts make a woman more interesting in most cases. I love pixiecuts for example. However for me a bob doesn´t do it anymore. A long bob suits me more and I feel more feminin with this cut now.

    Yes! I would really love a video about bangs😍 I am a soft classic so I don't feel good when my hair has got to sharp and obvious shape, I prefer them more natural and "efortless". But I always cut my own bangs, very thin and not really symetrical, something like Dakota Johnson has, or those korean actresses with very see through bangs. And I still can't decide if that looks good or not, and it takes some time to style it.
