    You know what's funny? Despite watching all of your videos related to the body types, I still couldn't figure out which body type I am. However, this video opened my eyes. I've always wondered why bold lips and bold eyes at the same time look so heavy on me. When I was doing my makeup that way, I always wiped off the bright lipstick because I felt it was too much. I've also always wondered why I prefer brownish and more blended eye makeup... I always wanted to pull off a graphic black eyeliner but I always ended looking less feminine. Now I know I'm a Natural and I can't thank you enough for your hard work and especially for this video here. Thank you so so much! ❤️

    • @Evija3000
      @Evija3000 6 лет назад +31

      Did you write down all the answers you got for ‘the body type test’ ?
      I was confused about my body type at first until I wrote down all the answers I got for that Video. When I wasn’t sure about the question I asked my family members.. turns out I’m a romantic.. at first I thought I was a soft natural.

    • @bodyofhope
      @bodyofhope 6 лет назад +9

      Same here! I could never pinpoint exactly my type, but I now finally believe that I am a soft classic. I've been a Gamine wannabe all my life, so it makes sense why the bolder makeup doesn't feel right.

    • @Evija3000
      @Evija3000 6 лет назад +2

      @@bodyofhope I think it also depends on your coloring. I don't think very bold makeup would look that great on a gamine with muted tone hair and eyes for example.

    Can you do a video on Wedding Dresses for the body types? I see a lot of brides wearing similar dress types for their wedding and can’t help but wonder if a different style of dress would look better on them. I’m also getting married in the fall of 2020. So I wonder if certain dress types could influence the season in which to get married. For example, I have the body type of Audrey Hepburn with Kate Bosworth’s exact measurements. And I think for flamboyant gamines, short dresses look better on us. But is there a way to compromise between what looks best on us vs the season? Like, how would a flamboyant Gamine be able to wear a short dress in autumn? Is there a way to wear a long dress with long sleeves? Or would that look weird on us? Lol

    • @shalini_sevani
      @shalini_sevani 6 лет назад +3

      Check Google images for Audrey Hepburn's wedding dress. She wore one with long sleeves and a high neckline. I think the hemline was below the calves, but not as low as the ankles.

    This makes so much sense. I am a Soft Classic and I have noticed that if I wear too much makeup, or anything too dramatic, I look terrible. I always tell people that my face is just not suited for makeup beyond natural looks or "waking up" my features with mascara and neutral eyeshadow since I look super weird with heavy eyeliner or dramatic lips.

Nude lipsticks and pastels make me look tired and washed out and tired. I'm not big on heavy eye make-up but red lips and a dash of mascara are enough for me.

    You are doing such a great job and your videos on Kibbe system are my favorite. I think I’m a classic and I noticed that each I wore too much makeup on the skin, the eyes and the lips I look vulgar. And also I look super weird when I overdraw my lips even though I tried different techniques. So I just stopped trying to make my lips look huge and it’s way better now.

    This is so interesting! I was so stuck between being a soft natural and a flamboyant natural, but I actually recognize myself more in the make up description of a flamboyant natural. I look awful in matte lipsticks. It makes me look older and sucks the life out of my face. I almost always wear a gloss or just a shiny lipstick. I naturally have bold brows, I look unbalanced when they are too thin. This is so interesting.

    I'm a soft classic and I absolutely agree with this. When I tried doing _"youtube/Instagram makeup"_ I always looked terrible with all the concealer and contouring.
    I look way better with light foundation to just even up my complexion. And I like to use an illuminating primer instead of highlighter so I look glowy. A bit of blush on my cheeks.Then mascara. Clear brow gel. And a blotted lipstick. So my lips have some natural looking color.
    Optional:
    I like using a shimmery brown eyeshadow just to add some depth to my eyes if I have time. And a bit of black liner on top and tight lining to make my lashes look fuller. On the bottom I also use mascara and a nude or white liner to make my eyes look a bit bigger. After all that I barely look like I have anything on. And I don't really.
    Primer- Smashbox
    Foundation- Fenty
    Blush- Colourpop
    Mascara(waterproof) - Drugstore
    Brow Gel- Drugstore
    Soft Matte Liquid Lipstick- Nyx
    Eyeshadow- COLOURPOP!!
    Eyeliner(waterproof) X2- Mac, Stila
    Setting spray- Urban Decay
    What's cool about being a classic category is that since you look better with less it's in your best interest to make sure that the items you do need to get are good quality.

    Aly, David Kibbie changed so much for me too! Since I was very young... I was able to touch some ground of my type... Нащупать что-то... But there were so many natural clothes in fashion boutiques, in magazines... and just the people around... Fashion for smokey eye makeup looks... And for me, who is a TR or closer to SD, finding out about this system - became so eye-opening.... Long brows, thick eyebrows, eyeliner, glamorous clothes, glitter... Those are some of the things that should be a must for me!

    I am a romantic type and I prefer glossy lips over matte.
    Thanks for this video! Great information to keep in mind.

    Do you do one on one tutoring? I would absolutely pay for even just a one time make-up lesson. I am 36 and I've never learned how to properly apply make-up, so I rarely use much -only mascara and eyeshadow and thanks to you I've become so much better at that with my learning of my hooded eyes!! Never knew that was a thing! It all makes sense now! But I really need help. I don't trust walking in to Sephora and asking one of them to do it because I usually don't like their make-up style. But you're style is gorgeous & NATURAL. If you would be so kind and have the time, I would gladly pay for this service!! Thanks for all you've shown me so far!!

    This was one of my favourites so far in the series - though they are all so great.. matte wins out over glitter for me.

    Спасибо, Аленушка! I rewatch this video. A few year ago I got really into eye makeup, stated collecting pictures, wanted to master eye makeup looks, explore eye makeup, didn't know much about it, only practiced wing eyeliner since high school... I just collected makeup looks for the color type and some similarity with my looks in many cases
    I have always liked complex sophisticated makeup looks, like smokey eyes created in different palettes - like those girls we see in magazines growing up. Like the goal of makeup, "real makeup" of what it can be, as it seemed to us.
    But I'm most likely a theatrical romantic, at least, it suits me so well. I found my looks can't pull off grunge - dark, even not heavy smokey eye makeup looks very well, even rather slight, it is not my energy... I went back to liner again, long wings... I found light shimmery colors are so food for me. And I just like colorful eye makeup looks without dark colors in general - like pinkish, very light purple, with the liner. I think glitters suit such looks very well. I think they suit all the relative types of looks - like soft dramatic, soft gamine

    I'm a dramatic classic and my go to look is exactly as you said, lashes, brows and out the door. May I just add one tip for everyone. Curl your eyelashes, it makes such a great difference.

    Nice video, of course :) I would like to just add - for whole classic family and I think this also works for natural types - our make-up looks the best if it is dewy, so with that natural glow, not shimmery, glossy nor super matte. For evening look we can use little bit more contrast - more matte base and pearl eyeshadow (because of different light), but it should be balanced and definetely lips should keep that natural glow (even if they are red). :) In general we look great with light, natural make-up, if it is heavy it ages us.

    I will always watch your videos but now with all these loud commercials I have to watch at low volume and from a distance. I can no longer closely study because the sudden commercials at odd moments are jangling my nerves. This as always is a good video. I borrowed the Metamorphosis book from the library to learn more. It is an excellent book, thank you for the recommendation.

    I'm wondering what might be good for someone with a more romantic body type, but with a sort of punk/goth-ish style.
    She said pastel colors would be good for makeup, but I tend not to use a whole lot of pastels in my look. Mostly black. I'll wear bright colors sometimes, but even then, they're more vibrant and bright, and not really pastels.

    You are my favorite youtuber and make-up artist, Aly! Keep up the good work!
    I do not know which type I am exactly. I am a typical pear shape with small round shoulders and delicate arms, with thick legs and bottom. My face is round, a lil chubby. Pretty soft. Defined lips, big-ish nose. 160 or 162 cm. I thought maybe Romantic or Soft Gamine. I like to experiment with all types of make-up. I think the only thing that looks quite weird on me is very pastel lips.
    As for matte vs shimmery lipstick. I actually love creamy and shiny ones the most.
    Matte looks better usually than very shimmery.

    Oooh... now I finally know why contouring, eyeliner, bigger/overdrawn lips or fake lashes look so off on me. Insta makeup is just very sharp and I should just accept me being a romantic and do my korean-like lips, 1 colour of eyeshadow and brown mascara, because it suits me best. I guess it's time for me to stop following trends and beauty standards.

    You are right about dramatics looking a bit masculine with too much stage-type makeup. As a middle aged dramatic, I have to forego the artistic makeup looks I see on social media because I look like a drag queen when I wear the overdone Instagram makeup looks. I love drag queens, but they are the only people who should look like drag queens, imo.

I'm a romantic and all my life i've struggled with fashion because i'd always look better in dresses and skirts like a 60's wife look or in office of MAD MEN(tv show) woman look, i'd try and buy amazing in-style 2018 clothes and makeup but something was always off and now i just understand that they're not just for me , for my body. I am finally at peace with my body. thank you so much for sharing , you have no idea, THANK YOU!!!

    Personally, I like matt lipstick, that has a bright color (like a red with a little pink) and I don’t apply it full to my lips, I apply some dots on my lips and then I smudge it. Or else it looks too heavy on me.
    I think my makeup look is pale face (I never contour or do blush), long lashes, brows filled with powder and bright lips. If I ever do eyeliner, I make a droopy line like Marilyn Monroe, that looks super cute.

    Great job Aly! Thank you! When you can, I'd be very interested to see a "jeans for the body types" video! I think that lately so many new jeans designs are in fashion, like cropped flare, 70s flare, regular straight, high waist, destroyed, rethinked... Sooo many designs, but... Is it for you? How can you know if it will compliment your body? Hope you can help us! I always appreciate your advice and your fresh and wise point of view! Keep up with the good work!
