HI Lilu, the leak with your car is almost certainly caused by some vents which sit behind the rear bumper coming unstuck from the bodywork. It's a very common problem with that model of Ford. Rain water drains down the side channel of the tailgate, over where the vents are and then it runs through into the bodywork. It goes into the spare tyre well, then overflows into the rear footwell and eventually into the front footwell. Your car is nowhere near as bad as ours was when we discovered it. There are 2 ways to fix it - the correct way is to remove the bumper and refix the vents to the bodywork. this stops the water going into the car in the first place. An alternative method (a bit of a quick fix bodge in my opinion) is to remove a couple of rubber plugs underneath the car which doesn't stop water going in but it does allow it to drain out before it starts collecting in the car. If it's under warranty they should be doing the first method. Good luck with getting it sorted.

I second this. I searched a LOT of you tube video of people trying to fix their leaky focus. For me, water was coming in from high up, and I discovered it was coming in from some large cracks running all along underneath the two long plastic strips on the roof. I Carefully removed the plastic strips (they're just clipped on) and silicone sealaed all the way along underneath. I also removed the bungs. I didn't attempt to fix the vents, it looked too complicated for me to attempt. But So far, much improved... 🤞

I did have some fun with a campervan early last year, I had gone to a local hill/cairn to try and see the Northern Lights, parked in the layby. Came back down after an hour or so around midnight, too much cloud to see anything, thought I would have a hot chocolate from my flask before driving home. While I was up the hill, a campervan had decided to use the layby for the night, fine. Their lights where stilll on. While I was drinking one of the occupents opened a window looked out and glared at me, as if to say how dare I be there! I could not resist it, waved and asked, "Are you here for the dogging?" Window slammed shut....

My first car was the original mini and I use to travel around the country sea fishing. I designed a method for taking the passenger seat out easily and i made a wooden frame so I could sleep there. I was able to lie straight and I am 6ft.
I could fit my clothes , fishing gear, food, cooker etc in the tiny boot and my fishing rods went over the top of the drivers seat.
For such a tiny space I managed to get so much in. It shows just what you can do with minimal space. The original Mini was lots smaller than the Minis now.
Since then I've had several hatch back cars and estate cars. When my family were grown up and the school runs were finally finished I traded my wife in for a van and the conversions started. I'm onto my 3rd van now and I still love it. I've been all around Britain and spent a lot of time in Ireland. Unfortunately with the explosion of camper vans and the no overnight parking signs everywhere I feel it's no longer the same. I still get the same enjoyment out of it however people seem to look down on you now for parking somewhere for a few nights. You can hear people wittering away to each other things like "I don't know why this sort can't use campsites" plus other statements. However I always give as good as I get. 😜
I'm enjoying your channel but you really need to be careful, especially in the hills when you're not sure where you are and parking in certain places. Always leave your driver's seat clear and accessible in case you need to leave somewhere quickly.
    Take care,
    Charlie. X.

Hiya 😁 I've just come across your channel as I'm ready for my first car camping trip and I think I've watched the entire UK catalogue of campers, except yours. You're incredibly watchable and hope you continue doing car camps in future. Lovely to meet you 😍

@AdventuresWithLilu Quite right, I think once the humidity of this summer disperses I'll be off. Bit warm at the moment 🥵. I just know I'm gonna get the car camper bug and already chuffed with my set up. It helps being a tent enthusiast as I already had everything I need. Who knows, if you're ever north of Sheffield, our paths might cross 😉

Love the vidyou have you camping in your car. Just a suggestion when you get in the back seat before you do. Scoot up the front seats all the way to the front and maybe tilt them forward for a little more room.

Cool video, have looked at the blinds etc, I've only slept in my car ,when I've travelled far, and turned up before fishery gates open etc, definitely going to try some mods, though sods law I'm going from a 7 seater down to a 5 seater in afew monhs 😅, being 6'2, the 7 seater is epic, will have to wait on the new one, but thank you for giving me a push to try it, never ,ever park carcamp near newark 😂😂, dogger Central, though is getting better, Intrigued with the heat mat too, good health and safe travels, cheers craig

I can recommend a trip up onto Bleaklow for an adventure. It's a tough hike crossing a lot of bogs but the main Bleaklow ridge is a pleasant ridge at over 2000ft and there are a few places you can wild camp. You will see grouse and possibly mountain hare and Canada geese in the streams.

Its a shame you've already chosen a name for the car, as seeing this video has given me ideas:

    2. Moist Dogging Mobile
    3. Lake Carmo

    "Scout"! What's that about?
My suggestion was "Alan" & I should have won.
Btw; The water in your boot is fresh (not stagnant), so it's recent rainwater born from a seal leak on the hatchback. It can only collect inside the car if the drain holes are clogged with crud. Find the drain holes & poke them out with a knitting needle. Voilà!
Park it with the back facing downhill in the meantime.
Call it Alan & it will mend its self.

Disappointed that the trusted steed PEGASUS was not picked😢. However, to help lift the curtain cord in the centre. Simply add a stick on hook, on the light with a large hook. The hook is the type that can be removed without damaging the surface. If the chord slips out. Add a self tapping screw through the hook to stop it slipping out.😎👍

Nice trial run vid with Scout... i was hoping (after reading the comments that Scout would be the chosen name).
Ooooof i lived nearly 2 years in a campervan and every now and then, you will get the odd dodgy moment when another vehicle, or several, come and park up next to you, so it's always smart to have your wits about you, and have everything available to you should you need to drive off quickly. Goes without saying that you should always inform a family member or friend of your whereabouts before setting off, and have a security check arranged to keep you safe.
Anyways, rambled enough lol. All the best for you Lilu, Scout, and fur-babies for 2024. Btw, the Pomoly hot tent and stove/oven/kettle set up is brill, but defo not one to really use in Isla - like storms, so good shout. Also, congrats the winner 🏆

I think you made the right choice of car camping instead of the hot tent. It's always better to be safe than sorry. When you said Scout, I thought, isn't that the name I suggested, and I wasn't sure until I saw my name. Thank you so much for selecting Scout, I just thought it was so fitting for your exploration in your new vehicle. Hope you are doing well and staying safe. I will DM you on Instagram with contact information if that is OK?
