Loved it. Very informative. After 5? years of Suzuki Altos I'm now the proud owner of a 2006 Vauxhall Meriva. Looking fwd to attempting some sort of conversion on that. My problem is I can watch hours of fantastic videos like these, by which time it's dark outside and I'm less inclined to get up and go and do something. I think it's termed laziness 🙂

Nice. I've done videos on my VW Touran build which I got last year to replace the Fiesta...so much more space. Very well done. You can throw away the spare tire and have more room. I just built a bunk bed for my dog. Now he sleeps in his bed and my feet and legs are under the bunk. Happy camping.
great vlog when i used to live in my car i used to sleep in the front seat and i am 6ft tall and its comfy enough all i would say if you sleep in the front seat etc make sure you can extend your legs fully so that you dont get cramp etc but i used to live in a vauxhall astra and i used to keep everything in the boot with parcel shelf in normal position but used to acess contents from the boot from within the car via the rear split seats etc and to do this you need to keep the back seats empty to access the boot etc and i used to keep tinned food in the passenger doorwell etc and i usedto buy a drive thru breakfast which if you buy a hot coffee it removes the need to carry a cooking stove etc and you can use the bathroom facilities at a drivethru or service station or supermarket etc free showers are available at motorway service stations etc hope my experience off living in a small car helps
Thank you. And thank you for adding your experiences and tips. Useful for others following the same path. Living in a small car, or any small vehicle and you really make use of every small nook and cranny.

I'm moving back to Europe in a couple of months. I'll travel a lot in a small car since gas is expensive there. . You gave me some great ideas. Thanks.
Nicely done, I used to have an old Honda Civic Areodeck, it was great for kipping in. My next car is possibly going to be a mini van like a VW Caddy or similar.
When I run this one into the ground (using it for work now too) I'm not sure what I'll get...I'm not good at planning that far ahead. Might be traveling around the world at that point after winning the lottery!!! Lol

Mine is Ford Escape. Took out one of the back seats, but next summer will take out the other. One side did not cut it for me and my dog. Thank you for the ideas.
A nice car to be working with there...a little more room. I completely agree with one side not being enough...makes it feel cramped. Glad there was a little inspiration in this video for you and hope you enjoy the summer and are able to get out for some adventures :-)
F ing good job good on yer lass if it ticks all your boxes and you're happy with it my dear then we're all good to go brillant absolutely brilliant top vid as always keep up the good work LNT 😀👍
Thanky you. I had thought about something like that, especially for days when it is raining and I want to be able to cook. I haven't quite figured out how to do it yet but it is a concept in the works. Thanks for reminding me
I use a simple car cover and some magnets to fix it on one side of the rooftop. When I open the back door to this side, it creates a small covered space. Enough to change clothes and have some kind of privacy.
Thank you. It has been a really enjoyable set up on roadtrips...a little bit of a pain when it rains...but no one ever expects someone to be camping in a Fiesta
Thanks. I literally just traded the Fiesta in for a VW Touran and did another build for a micro camper. Needed something slightly bigger for the dogs and when the weather isn't great
I’m am enlisting the assistance if a carpenter friend to make a similar platform for my vauxhall Corsa Maude. I’ve inly just got her and not ready to upgrade to a camper yet to go with a friend and thought your idea would be ideal to test it out. Need to climb in the back first to see if I fit. So exciting. Thanks for your inspiration.
Hope you can make it work...hopefully your friend has some good construction ideas. Please send pictures with whatever you do....and happy adventuring :-)
Just come across this video. As another comment said, it's quite difficult to find a good UK set up. Thanks for making it. I'm taking my 3 year old for a night's car camping in a couple of weeks in a ford focus estate (I need the estate as I'm 5'11") for the first time. She's been in tents loads but never a basic car set up. It'll be interesting to say the least.
Thanks. Glad it was helpful. I don't know if you have seen my Touran (original build and updated) conversion video which might give you some ideas too. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy your car camping trip with your daughter.
Just start out to live in my car for about 2 weeks now and doing okay so far ! I don't know how long I will have to live in my car, but as long as I have to when I don't have other options. The thing I love to rather live in my car than living with family's members on their property is that freedom. Even living with my brother still not okay sometimes because he has his own family and his own life and sometimes we still have a little disagreement between each others, so I think living on my own even in my Toyota sedan is still a better choice so I don't have to rely on anybody and have to live under their rules. I am free like a dove now !!!
Thanks for sharing but the problem I see is my height , I am 6'1" tall, so I'd need to sleep in a foetal position which is comfortable enough I suppose and I do not have dogs. Like the idea of using a camping cooker, as it is simplistic and if need to eat larger meals , well Pizza is always good, even second days.
Very true. This set-up only works for me as I'm short at 5'5". The same concepts would work in a longer car for you though. Just need to find the right car, or just stick with a van. And leftover pizza is always good. I wrap it in aluminum foil and stick it over the heater/defroster vent for a half hour while driving...not piping hot, but warm enough to eat

@@WilderhopeAdventures No problem and thank you for sharing your set-up, I use my car as my office somewhat the same as you do for a camper (my bad habit that makes everything okay is iced coffee on the passenger side floor daily too 😂) it isn’t a hatch back though and now see this and have all these office idea that a hatchback would work perfect for so your video has made me look at hatchbacks a completely different way now! 🤙🏾❤️
Really ingenious, very well thought out. Good luck .....Take care, Jack.
Thank you. Appreciate the comment :-)
cool and resourcefull person, taking a scary leap into my focus a year after colon cancer obv needed to be around toilet but, have to do this now as cant work or afford place, an old car and the outdoors here we come, thank life for youtube and cool people
your stunning dogs too :) great to see, thanks for this helps with the confidence
Thank you and good luck with your conversion. There is a great packable toilet perfect for small car campers that I discovered that could be kept around for emergencies: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08G4Z95MK/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_2?smid=A1NBUP7UTUHC7L&th=1
@@WilderhopeAdventures much appreciated thankyou, these vids are the way to go i think a lot of people getting into it so to speak, be great to hear your experiences, safe places tips, hoping to get through the early months ready for autumn winter, great adventure though, second chance at life for me beating cancer at 49, just gutted i cant carry my drums in a ford lol
@@Bcwilderness Glad to be of help. I would definitely search RUclips for either Prius or Ford Focus conversion builds to help you with some ideas for your specific car. I'm thinking of doing a video about tips on car/van dwelling for solo female travelers on staying safe etc

Love it. Wicked reminds me of wot Americans do at wall mart and stuff. With blackout window screens and so on Watch a few channels on boon docking and so on carcamping there all in America some some of them live all year round doing it as well I think it’s awesome myself great video Cj
I used to be a full-time nomad in the US...only ever lived in one place longer than six months and to this day I still consider it home.
Absolutely loved this video, and you have inspired me to go out in my fiesta this weekend, lovely to see you take your dogs as well, bless your soul, thank you
Thank you...glad it was helpful. Hope you have some epic adventures in your Fiesta
I had a Nissan Frontier that I was planning on converting the back out but then mechanical issues came up and now I own a Ford Fiesta. I love this lil car but I’m happy to know I don’t have to let go of this dream :)
Sounds about like my drama from a Toyota estate to the Fiesta. Glad to hear that your dream hasn't gone out of the window
Thanks for sharing. It’s all about taking your assets and finances and making it work based on your own personal requirements. It certainly works our problem solving muscles!
Thank you for the comment...couldn't agree more about making things work for personal requirements
This is great and very helpful as I have a Kia Rio 5 which seems to be around the same size as your Ford Fiesta. And I measure 64 inches. You’ve given me great ideas on how I could sleep in my car while I’m camping. Happy trails to you!
Glad this video was helpful and happy camping
Hi there!!! U did a great job with that video and your car!! I have a very similar car and am about to start my adventure as u say. I have the same issue with the seats not going down. Thx for your efforts and ideas!! B safe out there!!
Thank you and appreciate you taking the time to watch. I hope it proves useful in your car conversion. Happy to answer any questions you have about my build if it helps with yours :-)
Looks great. Tempted to set my ford focus up for camping. I love your accent.
You should! Definitely go for it...you won't regret it. And thank you
Good for you! You make me feel very spoiled in my minivan. :) Safe travels!
Thank you. I actually just upgraded to a small mini-van...build video is actually out next week
Thank you. Sounds like you have a good plan there...those videos are addictive though...easy to get distracted
Priorities 8:10 😂 ... Super micro camper! I love that platform that you've made so clever for storing your gear 👌
Thanks...lol. And appreciate the feedback...glad you liked the platform. Was an interesting project...took some thinking outside the box
I just went from a Nissan Murano to a Ford Fiesta. Thanks for the video as I plan on doing some camping soon.
Sounds great! Hope you have some good times with it
very ingenious... glad to see the bedding took priority and works well
Thank you. There is definitely a priority when out traveling to get a good night of sleep...whether that is in the car or a tent
Wow! It's great! Not expensive and yet of good quality! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. Yeah; I like to work with what I have and upcycle what I can if I have it. Have added some window shades since this video and I've done lots of nights in it...and been very comfortable. Thanks for watching
I have a Subaru xv and have done something similar.....it is a blessing being shorter 5"1 makes it easier to sleep in a car....thanks for sharing 🙂👍
Totally agree! Glad you enjoyed the video
I can't believe I only just found your channel but I'm over the moon to have anyways. I've done a few days with my partner in our 2 door KIA. If your mind is ready you can make your space work. Great video and thank you for sharing in such detail.
Still a relatively new channel so glad you found us and that the video was useful...lovely to have the video bring you here and hope you continue to enjoy future videos.
idahoan instant mash is the best mash! Discovered it while hiking the PCT and was so happy when I found it in Tesco! I don't drive but enjoyed watching anyway. I came here via your Vanguard Way part one vid via the SDW FB group post. Looking forward to part 2!
Yeah...it's good stuff. I was also glad to be able to find it in this country too. Such a staple for backpacking light. The PCT is on my list to hike as soon as I can. Glad you enjoyed both videos so far :-)
I have a Ford Fiesta too and this is perfect because I’ve been thinking of converting my car! Thanks for this great video!👏🏼
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for sharing this video and your insights!! You've literally inspired one person here on earth ✌️ I had been traveling on my motorcycle with all the stuff till last December. But now I think I'm gonna use the small car n experiment with it ✨
Have a wonderful life ahead 👍 keep shining 🌟
Thanks for leaving such a lovely comment. I hope you are able to make the small car work for you and that there are many adventures ahead with it. Take care
Making the best of it while you can ..like the way you set it up ..Don't know how you manage with 2 dogs but works for you ..That's for sharing..
Thanks....it's a tight squeeze with two dogs but at least it stays warm!
Thank you for this! I have a tiny car (Peugeot) so I’m not sure it’s possible. But definitely inspiring and I’d love to kit mine out well enough to sleep a night or two somewhere 💚
Glad you enjoyed the video. Hopefully you can make your Peugeot work for a night or two. Sleeping diagonal I had plenty of room.
Great Setup You have inspired me to try this with my Nissan Versa! I'm 4'8 and pretty sure I can sleep in the back seat comfortably if I add additional width to the back seat. I can set up my trunk in three to 4 parts 1. KITCHEN 2. CLOTHES 3. GARAGE 4. MISCELLANEOUS
Thank you for sharing your video. Can't wait for my adventure. You take care and safe travels 🙂🙏✌️
Sounds amazing. I hope you have many amazing adventures in it
Wow 😳 I have a 2019 fiesta and I’ve wondered how to make it work, now I know. Thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful and happy adventuring :-)
Big Smile 😄 I’m excited to try my 2007 SUV . You made my day! Love your idea. ❤️ I also have two dogs If you can do it
“I CAN” I need to purchase the item to charge phone and tablet .. what was it called?
Thank you . Stay Happy😄👍
Nice. I've done videos on my VW Touran build which I got last year to replace the Fiesta...so much more space.
By charger for phone/ tablet I assume you mean the multiple-plug charge ports I use that I plug into the cigarette lighter/12v outlet. The link is in the description of the video but this is the one I have: www.amazon.co.uk/Cigarette-Splitter-3-Socket-Separate-Voltmeter/dp/B085ZFGBBM
We have a fiesta too! I love your unique set up! Ours is a bit different because we have two people and two small dogs.
Thank you. Yes, very different to work with for two people but that's awesome to have made it work. Nice to hear I'm not the only one out there with a micro car camper. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)
That is super cool! Fiesta is a great car! I once converted a 3-door hatch into a full on coffee car! )
Thank you. I kinda miss it a bit now I've gone for something bigger. That's pretty cool about your coffee car
Great! I used to do it with a Polo several years with more than 60. Wish you and your dogs enjoy long time. CP
Thanks, you too! I hope you have some great memories from your time in the Polo :-)
What a clever set up for a tiny small car
this is an very inspiring video i have a 2015 3 door vauxhall corsa and I'm looking into this as an alternative to the next stage from a tent.
Thank you...hope you manage to make your Corsa work and find many great adventures ahead of you :-)
Very well done. You can throw away the spare tire and have more room. I just built a bunk bed for my dog. Now he sleeps in his bed and my feet and legs are under the bunk. Happy camping.
This car didn't come with a spare tire; very few do these days. My Touran doesn't have one either
@@WilderhopeAdventures
No spare. Boy I'd have a hard time with that.
great vlog
when i used to live in my car i used to sleep in the front seat and i am 6ft tall and its comfy enough
all i would say if you sleep in the front seat etc make sure you can extend your legs fully so that you dont get cramp etc
but i used to live in a vauxhall astra and i used to keep everything in the boot with parcel shelf in normal position but used to acess contents from the boot from within the car via the rear split seats etc and to do this you need to keep the back seats empty to access the boot etc
and i used to keep tinned food in the passenger doorwell etc
and i usedto buy a drive thru breakfast which if you buy a hot coffee it removes the need to carry a cooking stove etc and you can use the bathroom facilities at a drivethru or service station or supermarket etc
free showers are available at motorway service stations etc
hope my experience off living in a small car helps
Thank you. And thank you for adding your experiences and tips. Useful for others following the same path. Living in a small car, or any small vehicle and you really make use of every small nook and cranny.
@@WilderhopeAdventures
its only by youtubers living in a car or van and making videos of how they live that lifestyle thats helps others to be confident to do the same
love your camping stove set up
Very ingenious, would be a bit small for me but very clever!
Yeah, very much only suitable for short people. But it just goes to show what you can make work if you have a need and the desire to do more
I’m about to do same in my 2007 Ford Focus. Plenty of room with seats folded down, thanks for a few ideas I’m going to be taking into my car camper! See you around UK!
Glad I could be of some help...hope you have many adventures in your Focus
I'm moving back to Europe in a couple of months. I'll travel a lot in a small car since gas is expensive there. . You gave me some great ideas. Thanks.
Glad this was helpful...and you're not wrong about the price of gas!!!
Lol
@@WilderhopeAdventures wouldn't that be good. 😁
Love it, everything has its place and it's so neatly organized.
Thank you. In such a small space it has to be extremely organized but it works so well
Maybe a tarp with magnets when it rains to put over you while you cook a bit...would help a lot...😊
Great video and presentation. You are a gifted speaker!
Thank you...what a kind and lovely comment :-)
Really clever solution. I think a fiesta is too small for me (5ft 11) but might have a go at knocking something together with my small car (Seat Leon) really nice setup, you can see how you've learned improvements you've made over time, thanks for sharing your idea with us.
Sounds great!
So great! I’ve got the Suzuki swift plus two dogs….but yeah, you make adventure seem possible! Im doing this!
Awesome to hear...hope you have many many adventures :-)
Mine is Ford Escape. Took out one of the back seats, but next summer will take out the other. One side did not cut it for me and my dog. Thank you for the ideas.
A nice car to be working with there...a little more room. I completely agree with one side not being enough...makes it feel cramped. Glad there was a little inspiration in this video for you and hope you enjoy the summer and are able to get out for some adventures :-)
You are awesome. Well done! I'm in Australia and I'm going to follow your lead.
That's truly amazing. Thank you for sharing!
Certainly very inspiring.
Thank you so much for this video! It made my day! I am SO inspired now!
You are so welcome! Really glad to hear that...hope you have some epic plans for yourself :-)
F ing good job good on yer lass if it ticks all your boxes and you're happy with it my dear then we're all good to go brillant absolutely brilliant top vid as always keep up the good work LNT 😀👍
Thanks dude...appreciate the words of encouragement
Looks like a nice setup and some sweet dogs.
Thank you
Very practical and well equipped for a micro camper !!!
Thank you :-)
Very clever conversion 👍
Thank you. It's been fun using it too :-)
Great setup in your Fiesta! You could add a tarp over the boot when it’s open to the ground with pegs while you are cooking/changing etc.
Thanks
Some shower curtains have magnets in hems, wonder if those could attach upside down to outside of hatch?
Wow that's an excellent use of space👍
Thank you. It has been a really enjoyable set up on roadtrips...a little bit of a pain when it rains...but no one ever expects someone to be camping in a Fiesta
Now I desperately need to convert my car into a mini camper! Great video
Thanks. I literally just traded the Fiesta in for a VW Touran and did another build for a micro camper. Needed something slightly bigger for the dogs and when the weather isn't great
@@WilderhopeAdventures excited to see the progress!
My 2020 Honda Civic hatchback is just as small lol I think I’ll be giving this a go soon. Thank you!
Go for it...love to help inspire people to use what they have available. Hope you have many happy adventures
Brilliant, thanks for explaining how to do it. Just getting into this with a Vauxhall Corsa around Norfolk. x
Glad it was helpful...goodluck with the Corsa and happy adventuring
Trying to figure out something for my Mazda 3 and this has been so helpful! Now subbed! All the best on your adventures 💓😊
Awesome! Thank you! Good luck to you too :-)
Just come across this video.
You are so creative, best of luck!
Thank you! You too!
Interesting set up. 👍
I do a lot of car camping myself travelling all over the UK in a Ford C Max, same floor pan as your car but higher.
Very cool! I would definitely benefit from a little more roof space in this
Same here but BMax
This is very cool! Way to go girl!
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much 🤗
Just start out to live in my car for about 2 weeks now and doing okay so far !
There is definitely a kind of freedom that comes from living that way. Good luck to you and I hope everything goes okay. Take care of yourself :-)
Brava!!! I'll do it with my Fiesta! Thank you for sharing
Glad you found some inspiration in this video :-)
Very well done!!! I'm doing similar with my Vauxal Meriva. Lot of room even for 2 people!
Thank you and hope yours turns out well and you get lots of adventures out of it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
really an imaginative set up...
Thank you. And appreciate you taking the time to comment too...means a lot :-)
Excellent presentation. Great ideas. Learnt alot. Take care. Al from Sydney
Glad to hear it was helpful. Thanks for letting me know and enjoy your adventures
very useful. I have a 4 door toyota Yaris. Would love to do this set up for car camping. Anything is possible. You just got to try it. Thank you.
Thank you. Hope you manage to work it out with your Yaris. Feel free to email if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching :-)
Hi. Great video; it’s amazing what you can do in such a small space! Can you let me know what make your little blue power set up is please? That looks useful! Happy travels x
Hi and thank you. All equipment is listed in the comments with links (non-affiliate) but this is the one I have and really like it. The amount of ports has been really useful. The plug does tend to pop out of my 12v charging port so had to wrap it with a rubber band:
amazon.co.uk/Cigarette-Splitter-3-Socket-Separate-Voltmeter/dp/B085ZFGBBM
Excellent demos and advice.
Thank you :-)
I’m super inspired because I have a ford fiesta and want to begin camping in my car with my cat!
Go for it :-) Have many adventures
