I'm gonna try this with my fiesta, but I'm on my own so I'm going to try taking the passenger seat and the rear seats right out - unbolt them from the car. Awesome to see this has been tried before and I'm not totally mad.
Fun idea. They do make black out screens for your windows if you want to crack them for ventilation. Windows tend to get all fogged up from breathing in cooler temps and that causes condensation. Some people even put window guards up so if it rains you can still get ventilation without the rain coming in the car. Hope you guys have so much fun!
Thanks Dusty! It was a fun project, though until we got the plywood in i wasn't sure it would work 😂😂. It should be out next Sunday! Just got to find some music for it!
This is an absolutely clever and good idea. You will probably get used to the tight fit as the reality is everything is compact but definitely do-able. Looking forward to the next installment.
Really impressed with how you did this! hehe, amazing!! You've definitely given us some inspiration for our Citroen c1 hehe :D looking forward to more of your adventures soon!
Goood morning Car campers 🚗 really really enjoyed this video and the talk through of your thoughts and processes, brillaint. Well done guys love it, something we would like to try too! Templates are great, measure twice, cut once ✂️ Have a great week, Ceri and Kat ☕ ❤ 🗺 🧭
Morning both! You should deffo do it! We can compare notes! 📋📝I think reclaimed wood is the way to go, saves money and gives it new life! Just gotta watch out for splinters 😂
@@NotAnotherAdventure Good job on the tea! Tips re. condensation... not really. My experience is from living in a VW campervan in Chamonix in November 1990. It was very cold at night, as soon as the sun hit the valley we'd throw all the doors open and hang clothes, sleeping bags and so on over the door to dry out. I guess it all depends on the temperature - cracking a window open a touch could help, if its not to cold. And, presuming you aren't trying to live in the car for days on end, you can dry everything at the end of the trip. I'll look forward to seeing how your test runs went!
@@HollowayTyre yeah currently that's the plan, just dry everything in the morning or at the end of the trip. We've sortof accepted that we probably couldn't do more than a couple of days in the car just because of the space, but who knows!!
Thanks Rachel! Honestly throughout most of it we were just thinking 'what the hell are we doing 😂' but it all came together in the end! It was a lot of fun, I'd recommend it as it opens up a lot more adventures when you can just park up and sleep!
Nicely done guys...good to see others expanding the horizons of "van" camping. Would definitely recommend CarShade brand car shades and Heko wind deflectors for some privacy and ventilation.
Love how much you have been able to do with such a small space. Awesome video, this has made me want to convert our car (not sure the wife would be too happy about it however, haha). Great work 👍
Thank you! The test went pretty well! A couple of adjustments that need to be made, but it's all explained in the next video 😉. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, hope you're doing well!
Genius! With the hinges on the bed frame, does this allow you to put the back seats back up when you’re not using it? Thanks for the great video I’m hoping to convert mine soon 🤞
It doesn't I'm afraid. We're trying to think of a way to pack it all in the boot but that'll require a lot of hinges and I reckon it'd need more support beams to keep it strong enough. But it's worth a try I reckon!
Cracking idea! Where are you planning on travelling? I’m off in February for some hiking in central and South America, then back to Asia next winter ❄️ can’t wait!! X
That's really awesome! I've heard some really good things about Central and South America, it's on my bucket list to do the Inca Trail! We're hoping (covid depending) to head to New Zealand as a working holiday, with plenty of filming of course! Then maybe move up to Asia once our VISA is up!
I hope it works out for you both. You may need a roof rack container for your other bits and pieces as space will be tight in there. I guess for one or two nights you should hopefully be ok 👍
This is really awesome. I also have a small car and was wondering the best way to go about a micro conversion. Question though - did you guys tell your car insurance company about these modifications? I’m worried it would make my premiums much higher
Hi there! We didn't tell our insurance company just because it's removable and we aren't really using it as much at the moment. Honestly I'm not 100% sure where the legalities lie with that. But I'll do some research!
I reckon you absolutely could! I did a tonne of research for converting small cars and saw someone that had converted a smart car into one. If that car can be used as a car camper then any can! If you have any questions or want any advice pop us a message on insta!
They forgot to lift the seat bottoms before folding the back seats down. If you do this you don’t need plywood and the seat backs lie flat enough to put in a memory foam mattress topper
This is great. I have an i20 and I'm only 5"7 so I'm definitely going to try this! You may not see this message but was wondering if you had the dimensions of the large plywood sheet ? Cheers !
It's a bit of a tight fit but definitely doable! I'll take a look but I believe it was 1220 by 2440mm. Then I think we went for the 12mm thick ones. Hope that helps!
I like your conversion. This is definitely an inspiration for me as I am going to convert my small car into a micro camper, thanks heap!
Thank you so much!!
I have the same idea😊

That's a great idea! With 1 person you'll have so much more room
You may need to be able to put them back in for the MOT?

Some people even put window guards up so if it rains you can still get ventilation without the rain coming in the car. Hope you guys have so much fun!
That's a good idea! I think we're going to look into getting some deflectors to be able to open the windows without rain coming in 🌧️🌧️
Absolutely fantastic project, can’t wait to see how it all pans out! Good luck my dear friends, I’m eagerly awaiting the next video😊
Thanks Dusty! It was a fun project, though until we got the plywood in i wasn't sure it would work 😂😂. It should be out next Sunday! Just got to find some music for it!
This is the exact design I was thinking for a bed frame for my corsa, glad to know it can be done! thanks!
Awesome! Hope it turns out well!
This is an absolutely clever and good idea. You will probably get used to the tight fit as the reality is everything is compact but definitely do-able. Looking forward to the next installment.
I think so too! I think that for at least a night or two it'll be perfect in the colder weather, better than a tent anyhow!
Brilliant project guys, well done. 👍😁 Bet you're looking forward to making the most of it. Looking forward to seeing your video.
Thanks Tanny! Yeah we're hoping to get away for a few times in the remainder of the year!
THANKS for the inspiration! GOOD LUCK!!! 👍🏻😃🤣❗️
Really impressed with how you did this! hehe, amazing!! You've definitely given us some inspiration for our Citroen c1 hehe :D looking forward to more of your adventures soon!
Thanks guys! You should give it a go, we saw a video recently where a woman turned her Smart Car into a camper, so if they can do it then anyone can!

Awesome job, I hope everyone involved got full credit! Watch out for the condensation - all will be a little damp in the morning and need airing out!
I paid everyone in copious amounts of tea ☕😂😂 yeah condensation is rough, do you have any tips for keeping it semi at bay?

Thank you! We'll be sure to update with any improvements on it!
Great work both! X
It's just so crazy it works!
Another great video guys! Love seeing how you planned it and then put it all together 😊 looks like it was a really fun project to work on

We're desperate to get some deflectors to help with ventilation while also giving us protection from the elements! Will check out that brand
Brilliant guys, such a smart idea and rate the effort youse put in. 👍🏻
Cheers guys! A lot of the time we were thinking 'what the hell are we doing' 😂 but it all came together in the end

Thanks so much! I think you should deffo do it 😉I think in total we spent maybe £100 so it's quite easy to do on a budget!
Looks really good...hope all go's well when you test it.
Thank you! The test went pretty well! A couple of adjustments that need to be made, but it's all explained in the next video 😉. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, hope you're doing well!
It will work 👍, I have made such arrangements on my datsun redi go small car. ❤ from India.
Thank you very much! I think it'll work as well, we've slept in it 3 times and it's been great!
Awesome job
Thank you!
You are welcome
good luck guys great project 😎😎 atb daz
Cheers Daz! We've been in it once so far and it's been a lot of fun! We're hoping to do Snowdonia Next!

Thank you! We've been looking into roof rack containers 😂 but first we're thinking deflectors on the front windows to deal with condensation 🌧️🌧️
Hi, i have the same idea, but in a opel corsa. Iam tooking ideas...😊
Hope it goes well! We love ours!
Great 😊👍
Thank you! Hope you're doing well
Thank You ❤❤
Hey there! Glad you found it useful!
Get deflectors on your front windows, that way you can have fresh air in the car at night!
That's such a good idea! Ill look into getting some thanks!
This should help with humidity issues too
This is really awesome. I also have a small car and was wondering the best way to go about a micro conversion.

Sooooo. How are you going to drive with the front seats bendt forward?
how much is your height? Is there any chance for a 5.10 to sleep in this setup?
Hello! I am 6ft exact, I fit in it pretty well, sometimes have to curl up a little bit but I reckon 5' 10 would have no issues!
I want to do this with my twingo1

@@NotAnotherAdventure Ок thank y
Hi, what your size? Are you tall or small to fit on the car?
Hiya! I'm exactly 6 ft. Which is just enough to fit in, if I were any taller I think I'd struggle
Do you still have all your measurements? We have the same car but are not sure than we've measured correctly 🙈
They forgot to lift the seat bottoms before folding the back seats down. If you do this you don’t need plywood and the seat backs lie flat enough to put in a memory foam mattress topper
Step 1, buy an estate, ah wait, you started at step 2
Haha yeah, gotta work with what you've got right? 😂
Can you come and make it for me please as I have osteoporosis and need a good bed
if the car start rocking, don't start knocking
😂😂
