    • @Ericcssonn
      @Ericcssonn 2 года назад +10

      In a sense, all puppies/dogs are adopted by a human or a family. you meant to say "rescue" I believe.. Not that you dragged it out of a river and saved it from drowning, but you picked it up at the pound.
      There is nothing wrong with buying a new puppy (from a trustworthy source), if you are ready to keep it until death do you apart. Even when the dog gets sick and becomes incontinent or whatever may be, you gotta hold on to it. That's the responsibility of owning a pet. Sadly, many people get "inconvenianced" by their dog and don't see it as a family member. Shame on them.
      One can go either way. Give an abandoned dog a new home or raise one up from being a puppy. The important thing is, you take care of it and understand it is a dog lifetime responsibilty. Then there would be no need for dog pounds in the first place. If you never had a dog in your life, read about it and study it and think long and hard about owning a dog. It should not be an impulsive spur of the moment decision.

    • @simonwright9916
      @simonwright9916 2 года назад +5

      @@Ericcssonn sadly, many people often buy pedigree dogs for the wrong reasons, namely as fashion accessories or because they are just ‘cute’. They fail to take into account the typical traits of each type of dog, or the fact that many varieties are so inbred they suffer from many congenital mental and physical issues. When those issues start to manifest, the owners then find owning the dogs to be a burden and pass them to shelters or euthanize them. I’m not saying that is typical of all owners of pedigree animals, but you ask any shelter and they will tell you they receive a hell of a lot of animals this way.

      True. The house in England set up as just one family dog breeding, is used a lot by the Irish. A lot of puppy farming comes from there - and it's illegal to sell direct from Ireland, I think.
      One rescue that takes in the heartbreakingly over bred bit ches from puppy farms, is a rescue called MANY TEARS. Possibly in Wales?
      I believe they have a policy of taking them because if they don't, many worn out females would then be abandoned or have their throats cut... It is a truly ugly, nasty industry.

      If you go to the best rescues, they have dogs living in foster homes, know them as well as their own children. You can get a near perfect, already trained dog, if you are prepared to choose wisely and pick a dog for personality, and perfect fit for you, not looks or breed.
      Though you can be lucky and get beauty or hilarious looks PLUS a quiet disposition.
      If you buy a puppy, you will STILL have all the puppy pain for up to 3 years. Will have chewing, peeing on the floor, huge energy you have to deal with and unless extremely experienced; probably 1 to 2 years of committed weekend and after work training, to get a quiet, well balanced dog, that is a pleasure to live with.
      A lot of dogs at kill pounds are only a year old. Bought as purebred or fashionable crosses, pups, not trained, bored rigid, getting into trouble, picking up bad habits, and at 12 months, dumped at kill pound.
      LOOKS adult. Still totally undisciplined - still highly energetic. The people who dump them are the people who never do any training and almost never exercise them.
      Fact is, most people who claim they want a puppy not a rescue, it's more about that rescues CHECK you are a great home, whereas people who BUY puppies from most breeders, generally get no real checks. Very few visit your home, etc.
      You have the big cash, you gets the dog. When someone would rather pay £1000 - £3000 for a puppy, rather than adopt a civilised dog - OR PUPPY, for £200 or £300 or so, INCLUDING desexing, shots, vax, etc... They always show on my potentially dodgy radar.
      You can also go to breed SPECIFIC rescues, if a particular breed is SO important. If the national breed club does not rescue it's own breed, I wouldn't have anything to do with them.

    I have to keep reminding myself this is a comedy show and not a consumer rights show. If it were the latter, Joe probably wouldn't steal the camera from Lorraine, nor undermine the investigative work being done to catch these crooks.
    Hell, they'd probably actually _achieve something significant_ if it wasn't for his pantomiming. But as I said, comedy show. Can't expect anything else I guess.

    Wait, whats the issue here? These people just have a bussiness set up in Ireland (quite close and not a third world country) and they want to sell. Why is it not the UK govt under fire here? Its only 'smuggling' because its 'not allowed' for some random reason. Have some norms for the age and comfort of the puppy while travelling and let people sell. Children of all animals travel young safely (including humans) why can't puppies?
    1) There is zero evidence here suggesting that the puppy supplier mistreated them
    2) There is zero evidence here that the puppies here are even younger than their legal age for transport. Joe conveniently just states 'very young' instead of actual numbers.
    3) The puppy supplier was not really trying to hide he was getting puppies from Ireland, if he was, he would upload a fake UK vaccination certificate, not an Irish one.

    • @georgielancaster1356

      Or he could have been too thick and lazy to notice or even care about the country on the papers. Clearly the people buying don't care what sort of scum gets their money, just as long as they have a supplier for what they want.
      Maybe you should check out some of the overbred, tragic little female dogs that MANY TEARS rescue takes from Ireland so they won't have their throats cut and be buried in trenches, etc. Or be dumped in kill pounds in Ireland, with no hope.
      MANY TEARS is one of the major rescuers for Irish puppy mill dogs.
      So they often get their teeth removed so they can eat without pain, a hundred other things seen to...

      @@georgielancaster1356 I am totally against animal brutality too. Your comment though assumes that over breeding only happens in Ireland and not in UK. It happens everywhere. One of the reasons it happens is because of UK import restrictions. Restrictions lead to working in the shadows, which leads to fewer females to breed. This is true for all animals we use, sheep, cows, pigs, everything
