  • Peanuts are so easy to grow at home either in the garden or in pots or containers. Peanuts like full sun and plenty of water. Peanuts prefer warm, humid climates. Use soil that is soft and free draining with plenty of compost and nutrients. The soil needs to be loose enough for the peanuts to easily form underground. Plant your Peanuts in Spring and harvest in autumn once the plant has died off or gone yellow.

You want to try let the plant die off as much as you can to put al the energy back into the peanuts. I could have left mine longer but the bugs had found it so out it came! 🥜🥜 I may even try boiled peanuts with these ones 🤔

Once again love your work Holly :) I am now going to start exploring options for growing peanuts myself.
I went to the local nursery yesterday and spent way to much money haha I bought a fig tree, a chilli plant, lots of herb seedlings and a french lavendar bush to add to my garden soon.
My ideas for your LIVE cook on Sunday is definetly a salad using your homemade dressings and produce from your garden. I would also love to see how you make sweet chilli sauce :)

I do have a video of my sweet chilli on the channel and also recipe on my blog 🌶 🙂

In the southeastern USA peanuts are a very common crop. We Southerners like to boil peanuts. A large pot of salted water, put the peanuts in the water (still in the shell) and put them on a slow boil for approx 45 minutes to an hour - depending on how soft you like them. We often serve boiled peanuts (in the shell) at rustic parties or BBQ's - as a snack on a picnic. At produce stands all across the rural south you will find small brown paper bags of boiled peanuts for sale in the late summer/early fall.

I have 5 kids and the idea of them being able to grow harvest and make their own peanut butter would be super cool. Hadent really thought of growing peanuts before this video. Thanks.

It 9s the end of July here in Carnarvon WA and I am getting ready to plant some even though it’s a bit early. I have 2 old shell pools I was gifted so I have put them in a nice shady spot and put some holes around it for water drainage.

Hi haven’t grown peanuts before but it looks as if they would be good to turn in once you have removed the nuts, very interesting thank you 🙏.

As they are a legume they are also nitrogen fixing so another great reason to grow them. Thank you for watching 🙂

@@SustainableHolly thank you I love to pick up info from others I volunteer at a small community centre just north of Brisbane, all of the volunteers have mental or physical disabilities as we are not very experienced we are keen to learn. Cheers

You know how you made a video of your mum's garden and shared how she does her gardening stuff, why don't you sort of interview other people and show their ways of gardening. Or even better go to Community gardens and show how they do things differently. There is one in kelmescott and ppl hair garden deds and plant what they want it's super cool
