Connections between Iblis & Hirudegarn: 2 giant, mythical Gods who were originally part of something greater (Hirudegarn was originally sealed inside of a statue and meant to purify peoples hearts while Iblis was apart of Solaris before getting separated after getting experimented on) after they experienced events caused by evil acts (Hirudegarn being transformed by the Kashvar sorcerers to become a phantom majin and Solaris being separated accidentally by the Duke of Soleanna and became a destructive being) they would be the cause of destruction of all life on the planet they were on. They were then sealed inside of someone of great status in order to prevent their destruction from happening (Tapion and Elise). They were opposed by 2 hopeful teens from the past/future who were the keys to their demise and were the last of their kind to truly stand up to the monsters (Blaze/Silver and Tapion/Minotia). In present times, the main cast were manipulated by someone who acted good and seemed to want to destroy the monsters when in reality they wanted to release the monsters so they can merge back together into their true form and cause ultimate destruction all over again (Mephiles tricking everyone in order to merge with Iblis to become Solaris once again and Hoi manipulating everyone so the 2 halves of Hirudegarn can join back together). When all hope seems lost, the main heroes pull out one last trump card to defeat the monsters once and for all (Blaze seals Iblis inside of her and orders Silver to take her to another dimension, and is successful and just to make sure when that failed to destroy Solaris for good, Sonic and Elise blow out Solaris in the past after a long hard battle, and Tapion seals Hirudegarn inside of himself and orders trunks to kill him, when trunks refused the plan failed and at the last second Goku turns super saiyan 3 and uses the dragon fist to pierce Hirudegarn which turns him to stone). The connections between E-102 Gamma and Android 16 are that they are mechanical robots created by evil geniuses (Dr. Eggman and Dr. Gero) for their most popular series of mechanical fighters (E-Series and Androids) to bring world domination and getting their vengeance of the spikey haired main protagonist that ruined their plans (Sonic and Goku). Despite being built for combat, both are hardly seen fighting in their respective series, as both of them would find a great curiosity for the life of living beings, and eventually turned to the side of good. When changing their side of morality, they would go on to help the heroes to prevent the antagonists of their stories conquer/destroy the world. Even though they contrast as to how their actions involving their mechanical siblings are (Android 16 being allies and always fought beside Android’s 17 and 18, whereas E-102 Gamma having turned on E-101, E-103, E-104 and E-105 to free their captured animals), both would give it their all by going solo to defeat the ones created to be superior to them (E-101 Alpha Mk. II and Cell, respectfully), eventually being put out of commission because of them. It was because of their influences as characters that not only proves that even robots have souls in them, but their actions also helped one of the most looked down upon characters become stronger as they continue with their own adventures (E-102 Gamma with Amy, allowing her to become more independent and actually fight alongside Sonic & Co., and Android 16 with Gohan, who’s death enraged him to become stronger to save the world). Syn Shenron & Chaos Metal Sonic and Cell The grandest and most prized creations of mad scientists hellbent on killing a main protagonist with golden super forms out of spite (Sonic the Hedgehog and Son Goku).They were made as perfect lifeforms. With their sole purpose, their whole existence, being made to be better than others (Metal was made to be a better version of Sonic in everyway, while Cell was made to be a perfect being above all others in everyway). Because of their purpose, they’d grow a massive superiority complex based around them literally being made to be perfect (Metal grew a complex based around him having to be a better version of Sonic, and that he was a failure as a thing in existence if he wasn’t better than him in everyway, while Cell grew a complex upon finally struggling against someone and realizing that he may not be the skit perfect being in the world, which directly goes against his philosophy of being perfect above the entire universe). They have been betrayed as arrogant, yet nigh-unstoppable killing machines who couldn’t be matched. However, they eventually met their match by ironically the same person they were made to destroy (Sonic and Goku). They would challenge Sonic and Goku at their own game (speed and combat). They get more powerful by advancing into higher forms by absorbing other inorganic things into their mass (Metal gets stronger by absorbing either data or metal objects, while Cell gets stronger by absorbing other androids ((specifically #17 and #18)) and also copying opponent’s techniques).
Sonic took inspiration from Dragon Ball but that doesn't exactly mean "copying" it. Both are pretty different franchises despite their similarities and that's always fine by me. Cool video Mugru.
Idk about that; you can only show so much inspiration before your your art crosses the boundaries into plagiarism, and it can be heavily argued that parts of the sonic franchise are a bit too derivative of DBZ.
It's very obvious who was inspired by who first which Is dragon ball inspired sonic but you can argue that the later transformations in dragon ball super were inspired by sonic

Growing up with both the Dragon Ball series and the Sonic series it's definitely interesting seeing how many similarities there are between both series. However I still say that despite all similarities I think it's cool how much they both differ from each other. What I think drew me to both is how rich their lore is and the amount of work is put into both universes as well as how much the characters have resonated with me growing up and how they influenced me. I will say that I also love how you go into how much Dragon Ball has influenced other franchises like Alex Kidd which has heavy connection to Sonic considering both were mascots for Sega competing against Nintendo. I also didn't make that connection with Arale and Mario before but seeing how both run it makes a lot of sense. This was a fun video to watch and I love how well put together this was.
Fun Fact: In one of Ian Flynn's Bumblekast episodes from some time ago, he stated that Super Sonic 2's Internal Name was Starfall Super Sonic, even though he wasn't sure it was locked in as official. Not to mention, Super Sonic 2 was essentially a codename found within the game's files for Update 3(aka The Final Horizon).

I remember hearing from Chaomix that Trunks and Sonic in the SEGASonic arcade games back in the 90s have the same voice actor in Takeshi Kusao. Surge also had influence from 18 albeit in design more than personality. Either way, it's cool that Dragon Ball has so much influence over almost all the media we have now
Been a fan of both for as long as I can remember because both of these franchises have so much world building and lovable characters that have become iconic to the world by this point.

For Super Sonic and Super Saiyan, they're the inverse of each other. Originally for Super Saiyan, it was gonna have red eyes but was cut to not make it have a darker tone, and in S3&K, Super Sonic had green eyes before changing it to Red for later on. It's no wonder why some say Sonic is a parallel universe to DragonBall
I feel it worth mentioning that Shiro Maekawa, one of the writers for Sonic 06, did confirm in a 2018 interview with EmuEmi that Silver himself *was* inspired by Trunks directly, something also stated in a design doc for the game. Also, about Surge, her designer, Mauro Fonseca, has cited Android 18 as an inspiration for her design, alongside the Ashura glitch from Sonic 2. I also always thought it was cool how the concept art for Super Sonic referenced the shot of Goku's first Super Saiyan transformation. Neat stuff. But I also dig that you highlighted the many differences between the two series, really emphasizing that Sonic isn't a copy-paste of Dragon Ball, even with all the influences. Really cool video overall! Side note, love that you sorta redid that thumbnail you made for Geekdom for this one, just with the base forms. And it looks great!

I know Surge and Kit have the Androids' bqckatpry basically but personality and relationship wise, they remind me more of the Universe 6 saiyans. Surge and Caulifla/Kefla being the spicy, punch first types with a harsh disdain of the protagonist and Kit and Kale being the subdued, devoted sidekick with a highly dangerous side buried within.
@@sonicsaiyan07 I get where this is coming from, I only wouldn't call Caulifla's feelings about Goku "disdain". It's more like he's the mountain top and she is determined to reach it and go beyond it.
There's one tiny detail you missed that I love: in Sonic and the Black Knight, Shadow is represented by Sir Lancelot, and in the multiplayer, Silver is represented by Sir Galahad. In Arthurian legend, Galahad is the bastard son of Lancelot. Vegeta concieved Trunks with Bulma out of wedlock, so if we assume Shadow and Silver are inspired by Vegeta and Trunks respectively, then that's just one more neat connection!
For as much as everyone wants Super Sonic vs Super Saiyan Goku style Sonic v. DBZ, I've increasingly come around to a desire to see old school Sega Genesis/CD/Saturn-era Classic Sonic cross over with old-school Red Ribbon Army/King Piccolo-era Dragon Ball. There's an aesthetic there that's worth tapping into.

Very good point on Werehog being more similar Luffy. I’d like to consider Surge as the Kefla or Caulifla of Sonic since she’s supposed to be another rival for him, then again it’s debatable since Blaze comes from the Sol Dimension and she’s kinda like a female Sonic in her own way. I’ve seen fan art of Rouge dressed up as Android 18 and honestly I think Rouge could work as her but it could be a stretch.
I believe it's been stated by Sonic's creators as well as Maekawa (Sonic Adventure 2's writer) that Sonic has taken influence off of Dragon Ball, but also various other Shonen manga and anime.
Both Sonic and Goku Black had dramatic shots in front of fire in relation to Silver and Trunks respectively. I wouldn't be surprised if that's coincidental, but it's a fun thing to point out
Going on the Silver and Trunks comparison, has anyone noticed how directly similar the Future trunks saga in Dragon ball Super is to the Story of Sonic! Other similarities I'd make are GUN and Red Ribbon being military organisations that have antagonized the main characters at some point and Dr Gero and Gerald Robotnik being mad scientists

7:11 - I wish you mentioned that the Chaos Emeralds are more like the Infinity Stones from the Marvel Universe. Each Useful on their own, and when gathered together, it kinda does what both Dragon Balls and Chaos Emeralds do, the Infinity Stones can both give immense power and grant a wish with said immense power.
The "7 dragon balls" and "seven chaos emeralds" thing, while they're different, only really share the fact that you need 7 of them because 7 is seen as a complete number in the bible, or in Japanese culture, 7 is a "lucky" number because buddhism
I checked out when you asked who was stronger between super sonic and SSJ Goku. It would be more like super sonic vs UI Goku if anything. More so like Sonic vs Whis or Zeno tbh.

@chillihog1543 to be fair keeping only super sonic has the advantage of still keeping super sonic special, like for example super saiyan just isn't all that special anymore because if an enemy loses to it, they aren't a particularly strong enemy, it just became an in-between slight power up, while something like super sonic still feels dramatic in a way super saiyan just doesn't anymore

Sega has actually five mascots through its history. The first one being Usagi-sensei a pixelated rabbit that appeared in game manuals to give hints and aid. The second is considered to be Upa Upa from Fantasy Zone. The third one is Alex Kidd who was made to replace Upa Upa due to low sales. And was licensed to another company. Fourth is Sonic who replaced Alex due to its failures. And finally there's NiGHTS whom Yuji Naka wanted to replace Sonic after the classic Sonic trilogy and in Japan it actually replaced Sonic for a bit. At least until the shitstorm of Sonic X-treme which led to the creation of Adventure.

What/How about Angel-Island and Kami's lookout as a home for the seven-stones featured... and how about other similarities with other stories like Power-Stones... there is even a fighter there with a super-form by the way; so it is not only Sonic and Goku but that fighter and there is also a samurai that has a super-form too in some old samurai game...

There is a big difference because trunks mostly is in the past while silver is always seen in the present after sonic 06 a a another difference is that silver was manipulated to kill sonic but trunks had only done good

Going back to Chris in Sonic X's Metarex Saga being like Goku becoming a kid again in GT, the whole Metarex Saga, at least the foundation, is also the same as the Black Star Dragon Ball Saga what with the primary macguffins being blasted off into space and our heroes having to traverse the galaxy to find them again before disaster strikes their home.
I personally like both Dragon Ball and Sonic, these two are my favorites when I was a kid. They have in common with each other, and I enjoyed them very much. 🧡💙
I wouldn't say Sonic copied Dragon Ball but rather Sonic took inspiration from it. Some concepts are indeed similar but different enough to not be considered the same as Dragon Ball.
While Shadow is simikar to Vegeta in terms of role in the plot, personality wise he always seemed more akin to Hiei of Yu Yu Hakusho fame to me, mostly because unlike Vegeta who's motivated by his rivalry with Goku, Sonic doesn't matter much to Shadow. They respect each other, butt heads on occasion but are otherwise their personal stories are independent of each other.
Comic book storylines are not congruent to video game storylines. MatPat made this mistake in his Chaos Emerald video for Game Theory and I haven't watched a single one of those since. Also, 19:13 ...did SEGA just FORGET about Hyper Sonic?
I grew up with the Sonic series, so I’m definitely bias. Although, I have started to watch through the original Dragon Ball anime recently, and I am enjoying it so far.
During my crisis of “is sonic a copy of dragon ball” I learned that all fiction or almost all fiction got there inspiration from something like for example if journey to the west didn’t exist dragon ball wouldn’t exist if dragon ball didn’t exist Sonic wouldn’t exist if Sonic didn’t exist so many other video games or movies wouldn’t exist
sOMETHING I've been wanting to do is create a complimentary tripplete. Which is to say I want to create a series that takes insporation from both Dragon Bal and Sonic and make refrences to both. not just the obvios shared traits but also experiment with ideas more exlusive to either. For example Goku has an evil brother named Raditz. Ashura is a fan charecter who' is a hedgehog that resembles Surges long before the tenric or even scourge where ever around. sOME RUMORS CLAIM he was Sonic's evil older brother but he was never made cannon. For the most part this was only due to glitch in one of the games. something simular to how some fan artists came up with Eggette due to an upsidedown pixelsprite of Eggman's face looking like a little girl. In Sonic Under Ground Sonic is one of 3 royal trippletes that must unite with their long lost Mother to over throw Robotnic. MasakoX is someone who workede with Team FourStar and has recently been makin alot of what if's Not only has he done what if RADITZ turned good, but he also did wHAT IF gINEH THE Mother of Goku went to Earth with him. As we all know Gineh died on Planet Veegeta. If I was to make my own series with my own charecters, I'd want to include elements like this, the idea of the main charecters having siblings, one of which being an evil older brother who could turn good and the idea that their Mother somehow survived a terrible fate. It would be a tad complicated when we get into how Dragon Ball and Sonic parralels contridict one another. Like how the Dragon Balls are useless individualy while the Emeralds still hold use even when on their own. Obviosly their's also the matter of having 7 of the same thing, but the Dragon Balls like this man stone balls and the Emeralds are literaly Gems filled with ancient power. The Dragon BALLS sUMMON AN eTERNAL Dragon. The Chaos Emeralds have a counterpart in the form of the Master Emerald but their is no link where the loss of the Master Emerald would ever affect the Chaos Emeralds. However tHE LOSS OF kAMI does make the Dragon Balls Enert and the loss of the Master Emerald does cause Angle Island to fall from the sky. So you have a figure or relic of high importance that coems with a cost if lost or removed. Also Chaos and Dragon. One is a concept of lack of Order yet it's emeralds are used for power. Dragon is literal a mythical creatures and the Balls are used to sumon one that can grant a wish or wishes. And going back the Dragon Balls being useless on their own. The Dark Dragon Arch from GT did involes a dark Dragon for each indiviual Dragon Ball. In siumluar fashion there was an idea for a porject for sonic where Eggman would atympt to use the Chaos emeralds in one of his machine and he accidently releases 6 evil beings. This idea was later reused for the Zeti in Lost world except they never escaped the Dragon Balls so they don't count. Still imagine if you had 7 relics that had something trapped inside and when gathered together they did something verry crucial to the plot that made them worth hunting for.
Just to make it clear, SEGA confirmed that each separate emerald power is EXCLUSIVE to the Northstar Islands from Sonic Superstars So yes, each individual emerald is indeed useless on their own without Chaos Control

I think while it is true they have similarities, the two franchises a lot less alike than people think. Plenty of people believe in the misconception that Shadow is inspired by Vegeta, when he isn’t, he was actually inspired by Spawn. If Shadow is really a copy of Vegeta then you might as well say so is Venom from Spider-Man, or the Infinity Stones to Dragon Balls Another thing worth mentioning is that Dragon Ball is heavily inspired by Eastern storytelling (primarily the book Journey to the West) while Sonic the Hedgehog exhibits more western style storytelling So no, I would say Dragon Ball didn’t inspire Sonic as much as anyone would want to believe. And yes, I am aware a direct inspiration Sonic did taken would be Silver the Hedgehog being inspired by Trunks
Personally i dont get the hate for the chaos emerald abilities in Superstars? Imean they clearly seem to be some kinda of chaos control abilities! For instance the Yellow Emeralds “slow down” ability is LITERALLY just a weaker version of Chaos Controls Time Stop! The Blue Avatar, in sonic frontiers when sonic is fighting as Super Sonic we do see him spawn “avatars” of sorts in one of his moves! Green Ivy, the emeralds in the Sonic 1 ending were shown to affect plant life! Purple Vision, in Sonic 06, and this one IS a bit of a stretch, the purple emerald was shown to show people visions, for instance Mephilis showed Silver and Blaze the vision of Sonic again that one is totally a stretch but yaknow! Red Bullet, again another stretch since the boost has become a mainstay, but in sonic mania (and superstars) we know Super Sonic has a bullet like ability where he fires off in whatever direction you send him (at the cost of ten rings) Ive got nothing for Cyan Water But another stretch for Silver Extra amy gets the hammer throw abilities while probably not canon in Superstars either super or hyper amy has the same ability? either way as generic as some of these seem this is just how i like to think of things! :)
Honestly I love both Series. Sonic and Dragon ball are amazing. that being said I can't see Sonic being based around Piccolo in ANY way, I feel that is fake. Also their not copying each other, it's more inspired then anything if you ask me. I just feel both are their own thing and are both amazing in their own rights.
You forgot to mention that Powered Up Super Sonic (This is how Super Sonic 2 is called in the official image) is also inspired by Ultra Instinct, as Sonic is completely calm and focused in it.

Even though they contrast as to how their actions involving their mechanical siblings are (Android 16 being allies and always fought beside Android’s 17 and 18, whereas E-102 Gamma having turned on E-101, E-103, E-104 and E-105 to free their captured animals), both would give it their all by going solo to defeat the ones created to be superior to them (E-101 Alpha Mk. II and Cell, respectfully), eventually being put out of commission because of them. It was because of their influences as characters that not only proves that even robots have souls in them, but their actions also helped one of the most looked down upon characters become stronger as they continue with their own adventures (E-102 Gamma with Amy, allowing her to become more independent and actually fight alongside Sonic & Co., and Android 16 with Gohan, who’s death enraged him to become stronger to save the world).

The grandest and most prized creations of mad scientists hellbent on killing a main protagonist with golden super forms out of spite (Sonic the Hedgehog and Son Goku).They were made as perfect lifeforms. With their sole purpose, their whole existence, being made to be better than others (Metal was made to be a better version of Sonic in everyway, while Cell was made to be a perfect being above all others in everyway). Because of their purpose, they’d grow a massive superiority complex based around them literally being made to be perfect (Metal grew a complex based around him having to be a better version of Sonic, and that he was a failure as a thing in existence if he wasn’t better than him in everyway, while Cell grew a complex upon finally struggling against someone and realizing that he may not be the skit perfect being in the world, which directly goes against his philosophy of being perfect above the entire universe). They have been betrayed as arrogant, yet nigh-unstoppable killing machines who couldn’t be matched. However, they eventually met their match by ironically the same person they were made to destroy (Sonic and Goku). They would challenge Sonic and Goku at their own game (speed and combat). They get more powerful by advancing into higher forms by absorbing other inorganic things into their mass (Metal gets stronger by absorbing either data or metal objects, while Cell gets stronger by absorbing other androids ((specifically #17 and #18)) and also copying opponent’s techniques).

Growing up with both the Dragon Ball series and the Sonic series it's definitely interesting seeing how many similarities there are between both series. However I still say that despite all similarities I think it's cool how much they both differ from each other. What I think drew me to both is how rich their lore is and the amount of work is put into both universes as well as how much the characters have resonated with me growing up and how they influenced me.
I will say that I also love how you go into how much Dragon Ball has influenced other franchises like Alex Kidd which has heavy connection to Sonic considering both were mascots for Sega competing against Nintendo. I also didn't make that connection with Arale and Mario before but seeing how both run it makes a lot of sense. This was a fun video to watch and I love how well put together this was.

I remember hearing from Chaomix that Trunks and Sonic in the SEGASonic arcade games back in the 90s have the same voice actor in Takeshi Kusao. Surge also had influence from 18 albeit in design more than personality. Either way, it's cool that Dragon Ball has so much influence over almost all the media we have now

For Super Sonic and Super Saiyan, they're the inverse of each other. Originally for Super Saiyan, it was gonna have red eyes but was cut to not make it have a darker tone, and in S3&K, Super Sonic had green eyes before changing it to Red for later on. It's no wonder why some say Sonic is a parallel universe to DragonBall
I feel it worth mentioning that Shiro Maekawa, one of the writers for Sonic 06, did confirm in a 2018 interview with EmuEmi that Silver himself *was* inspired by Trunks directly, something also stated in a design doc for the game. Also, about Surge, her designer, Mauro Fonseca, has cited Android 18 as an inspiration for her design, alongside the Ashura glitch from Sonic 2. I also always thought it was cool how the concept art for Super Sonic referenced the shot of Goku's first Super Saiyan transformation. Neat stuff.
But I also dig that you highlighted the many differences between the two series, really emphasizing that Sonic isn't a copy-paste of Dragon Ball, even with all the influences. There's one tiny detail you missed that I love: in Sonic and the Black Knight, Shadow is represented by Sir Lancelot, and in the multiplayer, Silver is represented by Sir Galahad. In Arthurian legend, Galahad is the bastard son of Lancelot. Vegeta concieved Trunks with Bulma out of wedlock, so if we assume Shadow and Silver are inspired by Vegeta and Trunks respectively, then that's just one more neat connection!

For as much as everyone wants Super Sonic vs Super Saiyan Goku style Sonic v. DBZ, I've increasingly come around to a desire to see old school Sega Genesis/CD/Saturn-era Classic Sonic cross over with old-school Red Ribbon Army/King Piccolo-era Dragon Ball. Very good point on Werehog being more similar Luffy. I’d like to consider Surge as the Kefla or Caulifla of Sonic since she’s supposed to be another rival for him, then again it’s debatable since Blaze comes from the Sol Dimension and she’s kinda like a female Sonic in her own way. I’ve seen fan art of Rouge dressed up as Android 18 and honestly I think Rouge could work as her but it could be a stretch.
BTW, Scourge and Surge's designs were inspired by the Ashura glitch in the Genesis version of Sonic 2.
I believe it's been stated by Sonic's creators as well as Maekawa (Sonic Adventure 2's writer) that Sonic has taken influence off of Dragon Ball, but also various other Shonen manga and anime.

Sega has actually five mascots through its history. The first one being Usagi-sensei a pixelated rabbit that appeared in game manuals to give hints and aid. The second is considered to be Upa Upa from Fantasy Zone. The third one is Alex Kidd who was made to replace Upa Upa due to low sales. And was licensed to another company. Fourth is Sonic who replaced Alex due to its failures. And finally there's NiGHTS whom Yuji Naka wanted to replace Sonic after the classic Sonic trilogy and in Japan it actually replaced Sonic for a bit. At least until the shitstorm of Sonic X-treme which led to the creation of Adventure.

Going back to Chris in Sonic X's Metarex Saga being like Goku becoming a kid again in GT, the whole Metarex Saga, at least the foundation, is also the same as the Black Star Dragon Ball Saga what with the primary macguffins being blasted off into space and our heroes having to traverse the galaxy to find them again before disaster strikes their home.
I personally like both Dragon Ball and Sonic, these two are my favorites when I was a kid. They have in common with each other, and I enjoyed them very much. 🧡💙

While Shadow is simikar to Vegeta in terms of role in the plot, personality wise he always seemed more akin to Hiei of Yu Yu Hakusho fame to me, mostly because unlike Vegeta who's motivated by his rivalry with Goku, Sonic doesn't matter much to Shadow. They respect each other, butt heads on occasion but are otherwise their personal stories are independent of each other.
Comic book storylines are not congruent to video game storylines.
MatPat made this mistake in his Chaos Emerald video for Game Theory and I haven't watched a single one of those since.

I grew up with the Sonic series, so I’m definitely bias. Although, I have started to watch through the original Dragon Ball anime recently, and I am enjoying it so far.
During my crisis of “is sonic a copy of dragon ball” I learned that all fiction or almost all fiction got there inspiration from something like for example if journey to the west didn’t exist dragon ball wouldn’t exist if dragon ball didn’t exist Sonic wouldn’t exist if Sonic didn’t exist so many other video games or movies wouldn’t exist
I actually like that the Hedgehog can't go super without the 7 chaos emeralds most of his traits I see in a certain black swordsman who I don't hate.

Ashura is a fan charecter who' is a hedgehog that resembles Surges long before the tenric or even scourge where ever around. sOME RUMORS CLAIM he was Sonic's evil older brother but he was never made cannon. For the most part this was only due to glitch in one of the games. something simular to how some fan artists came up with Eggette due to an upsidedown pixelsprite of Eggman's face looking like a little girl.
In Sonic Under Ground Sonic is one of 3 royal trippletes that must unite with their long lost Mother to over throw Robotnic.
MasakoX is someone who workede with Team FourStar and has recently been makin alot of what if's Not only has he done what if RADITZ turned good, but he also did wHAT IF gINEH THE Mother of Goku went to Earth with him. As we all know Gineh died on Planet Veegeta.
If I was to make my own series with my own charecters, I'd want to include elements like this, the idea of the main charecters having siblings, one of which being an evil older brother who could turn good and the idea that their Mother somehow survived a terrible fate.
It would be a tad complicated when we get into how Dragon Ball and Sonic parralels contridict one another.
Like how the Dragon Balls are useless individualy while the Emeralds still hold use even when on their own. Obviosly their's also the matter of having 7 of the same thing, but the Dragon Balls like this man stone balls and the Emeralds are literaly Gems filled with ancient power.

The Chaos Emeralds have a counterpart in the form of the Master Emerald but their is no link where the loss of the Master Emerald would ever affect the Chaos Emeralds. However tHE LOSS OF kAMI does make the Dragon Balls Enert and the loss of the Master Emerald does cause Angle Island to fall from the sky. So you have a figure or relic of high importance that coems with a cost if lost or removed.
Also Chaos and Dragon. One is a concept of lack of Order yet it's emeralds are used for power. Dragon is literal a mythical creatures and the Balls are used to sumon one that can grant a wish or wishes.
And going back the Dragon Balls being useless on their own. The Dark Dragon Arch from GT did involes a dark Dragon for each indiviual Dragon Ball.
In siumluar fashion there was an idea for a porject for sonic where Eggman would atympt to use the Chaos emeralds in one of his machine and he accidently releases 6 evil beings. This idea was later reused for the Zeti in Lost world except they never escaped the Dragon Balls so they don't count.
Still imagine if you had 7 relics that had something trapped inside and when gathered together they did something verry crucial to the plot that made them worth hunting for.

I think while it is true they have similarities, the two franchises a lot less alike than people think.
Plenty of people believe in the misconception that Shadow is inspired by Vegeta, when he isn’t, he was actually inspired by Spawn.
If Shadow is really a copy of Vegeta then you might as well say so is Venom from Spider-Man, or the Infinity Stones to Dragon Balls
Another thing worth mentioning is that Dragon Ball is heavily inspired by Eastern storytelling (primarily the book Journey to the West) while Sonic the Hedgehog exhibits more western style storytelling
So no, I would say Dragon Ball didn’t inspire Sonic as much as anyone would want to believe. And yes, I am aware a direct inspiration Sonic did taken would be Silver the Hedgehog being inspired by Trunks

I always though that Sonic Unleashed felt more like One piece than just another DBZ trope like story.

Personally i dont get the hate for the chaos emerald abilities in Superstars?
Imean they clearly seem to be some kinda of chaos control abilities!
For instance the Yellow Emeralds “slow down” ability is LITERALLY just a weaker version of Chaos Controls Time Stop!
The Blue Avatar, in sonic frontiers when sonic is fighting as Super Sonic we do see him spawn “avatars” of sorts in one of his moves!
Green Ivy, the emeralds in the Sonic 1 ending were shown to affect plant life!
Purple Vision, in Sonic 06, and this one IS a bit of a stretch, the purple emerald was shown to show people visions, for instance Mephilis showed Silver and Blaze the vision of Sonic
again that one is totally a stretch but yaknow!
Red Bullet, again another stretch since the boost has become a mainstay, but in sonic mania (and superstars) we know Super Sonic has a bullet like ability where he fires off in whatever direction you send him (at the cost of ten rings)

Honestly I love both Series. Sonic and Dragon ball are amazing. that being said I can't see Sonic being based around Piccolo in ANY way, I feel that is fake. Also their not copying each other, it's more inspired then anything if you ask me. I just feel both are their own thing and are both amazing in their own rights.

You forgot to mention that Powered Up Super Sonic (This is how Super Sonic 2 is called in the official image) is also inspired by Ultra Instinct, as Sonic is completely calm and focused in it.
