- Hodgkin’s lymphoma - Hodgkin’s Disease - Reed-Sternberg Cell - Hematology and Oncology -Enlarged, Painless Lymph Node!
Lymphoid malignancies are divided into leukemias, lymphomas, and myeloma.
We divide lymphomas into Hodgkin's lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Hodgkin's lymphoma commonly affects the cervical and anterior mediastinal lymph nodes.
All things being equal, the prognosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma is better than that of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Hodgkin's lymphoma is associated with EBV.
There is contiguous spread among adjacent lymph nodes.
CORRECTION! In this video, I said “contagious”...It should be “contiguous”.

In brief, Hodgkin's lymphoma is associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), commoner in males than females, except nodular sclerosis...There is a bimodal age distribution, and patients are usually younger than their non-Hodgkin's lymphoma counterparts. My friend has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma this year in Jan. He had EBV and that was a risk factor which contributed to it. He's going strong and has completed 5 cycles of chemo. I'm writing this comment to wish for his speedy recovery. May god make him healthy again, more than ever 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@Medicosis Perfectionalis I had thyroid cancer 3 years ago. The cancer was all in the left side of the thyroid. The whole thyroid was removed, and it was decided I didn't require radiation. But about a year ago a lymph node under the left side of my jaw started to hurt, especially after drinking alcohol and sometimes swells to the about the size of a large marble. And I've been having terrible night sweats as well. I haven't gone to see a doctor.
9 year Hodgkins survivor here because I’m just sitting here wondering why I still have spontaneous lung pain that radiates to to my neck and head 9 years post ABVD chemotherapy. 🤷🏽♀️ Anyhoo, this is a very good video and you do a very great job of explaining things. Keep up the good work sir!
Hey Maya,
Thank you so much!
I think you should talk to a doctor!
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis Oh no worries. I did and continue to follow up. I’ve had PFTs, EKGs, routine CBCs with diff, and get routine follow ups. Everything looks pretty normal and I’m healthy. But I never really received a solid answer to why I have this pain. I’m thinking perhaps residual effects of ABVD more specifically Bleomycin maybe Pulmonary fibrosis. Who knows. I’m just searching for peer reviewed studies and patient testimonials about late effects of chemo because this inquiring mind wants to know. Any who, thanks for advising me to see a doctor. 👍🏽
If you have a recent x-ray, it will tell you whether or not you have lung fibrosis.
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis Hmm. I thought of that too. A simple X-ray to actually look at my lungs makes sense. Thanks. I will mention this to my PCP. You’re awesome!
Hi. 31 year Hodgkin's survivor here. At the time, 1990, success rate , at least in Portugal, was about 10%. Thankfully it has risen to above 70%. I too had ABVD. It was painful, but al least, looking at the drip, the colours were gorgeous. I am forever grateful to the fabulous doctors that I had - careful, informative, supportive - like apparently You are.. Thank you.

Can you please help me by sharing?
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis Yeah sure. Actually i have been sharing your videos to some of my colleagues. They are also watching.
I have been truly enjoying your videos and i commend you for making them, two aspects i like are the big picture overview and how you remind us of things that are off topic(like cancers than can be caused by EBV) this is a very student oriented method, however i find myself wishing for more structure in your videos say Pathophysiology first then evolution, diagnosis etc. This is an observation i've made multiple times so perhaps you'd like to consider it.
Thank you ...It was very helpful for me...I took notes from your video before studying my text book. This video makes studying easier and more interesting.

I had stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma .I was 31 years old . I had a lump of an orange in my neck . I did 12 cycles of chemotherapy in 2016. I still have itchy skin.

Well... I'm a 23 year old guy and I do a lot of lifting and running and thought the lumps in my groin were just from overuse... had them for a couple years now. Time for a visit to the doctor.
I had this but i am ok now. Biopsy is done to know what type of thing is causing the lump.
thank you sir, your video is WOW

My girlfriend got EBV at the age of 19, she got it treated then for 2-3 years nothing happened...
And now last year after noticing a strange swelling lymph nodes near her shoulder, she got diagnosed by Hodgkins Lymphoma after taking 5-6 chemotherapy seatings her lymphocytes and monocytes came to normal.
but now very often she feels swelling in her Lymph nodes at the same place...
Is there anything life threating for her ?
And is there something concerning for our future together or for our kids. ?
I love your videos, thank you so much
You’re very welcome 😊
thanks for this video
i came here 2 year back to cover hodgkin lymphoma for Pathology...after 2 year come again for Medicine 😍😍😍
Welcome 🤗 back
Nice video .especially your voice...medicine is art 👌
Thanks a lot 😃
Hey Medicosis, i have a question: Why is Vincristine used in the R-CHOP regimen for NHL and Vinblastine for ABVD? I thought NHL would more likely have a leukemic component and go to the bone marrow which would make Vinblastine more useful? Or did i make a wrong turn there somewhere? Thank you so much for your response!! :)
♥️♥️♥️♥️ We love you too. You are doing a great job!
Thank you 🙏
I am 23 years old. I almost died last year from EBV. I was on 2 immunosuppressants for autoimmune disease and the medications suppressed my immune system so heavily that my body was struggling to fight the virus. I went into liver failure, I had blood clots, and I was having heart complications. I have fully recovered after getting off all the immunosuppressants. Other than swollen lymph nodes that have not gone down since I was sick last year. I know my chances of ebv related cancer are high… it’s hard thing to digest
Thanks a lot nice explanation..
My pleasure 😇
Thanks for being More specific sir🙏🙏🙏🙏👌👌👌
My pleasure 😇
I really hope it can be cured, my mother has Hodgkin's Lymphoma - C81 , I hope she it can get cured.

Just a little confused, if we'll call it anaplasia or pleomorphism? 🤯
I'm actually a little confused about these terms. Would be happy if you can clear my doubts up!

Can be eosinophilic and neutrophilic or just Read-Stenberg

I have two lymph nodes on the sides of my neck and one behind my ear that have been there for years and my huge blood test work came back normal. Should I go see another doctor?

My daughter has a rash, a one-inch enlarged lymph node in the armpit, and pea size in the neck. No pain in either. Dr. Says CBC is good you are fine. 9.9 monocytes and 8.4 eosinophils. she has a number of other symptoms. What is your thoughts? She also was diag with an IGG 4 deficiency as a teen, but we never did any treatment...
Hey,
I have had hard movable lymph nodes for months now but aren't as big as some sites say (they are less than a centre metre but are more noticeable than ever before) and a hard bump at the top right of my spinal cord(near where it connects to the head). I had small patches of small red spots that have gone away (on my biceps and small patches on the inside of my thighs). I was quite itchy everywhere about a week ago but I'm not getting a fever, cold sweats, fatigue and the other symptoms websites state.
What should I do.
Please talk to your doctor!
No one can diagnose you online!
Any updates?
Thankyou so much👍
