To make sure you’re using the right hook size for plastic swim baits,the hook should be 1/2 the size of the swim bait and a EWG hook weighted to keep the swim bait balanced and swimming straight.

I have been fishing for 25 years of my life and I primarily fish for catfish, panfish, and trout and honestly the only time I use a jighead is when I am fishing for flathead catfish and I use a 1/4 OZ jighead with a 4/0 hook and a 4 inch berkley gulp alive minnow and it works wonders and is a lot cheaper than using dead bait.
