I have a 2010 Kakadu, petrol, but not a lot has changed since then, it is very good on very long trips and easy to drive in the city. Nothing really stops it. Reliability has been faultless, the body is still as tight as a drum and it still drives like new after 160,000k. I took that luggage curtain out of the car as soon as I got it and it is somewhere around as I never used it again. It is the best car out of the 30 I have owned, by a big margin.
The off-road portion of the review was epic! Find it hard to believe Toyota Australia would give the press so much freedom and allow their cars on such extreme off-road terrain.
Yes was a scary roller coaster ride lol. He’s lucky they let him drive it alone. Most car yard stick like glue. Unfortunately would be nice some personal space time. Like we used to get.
I was a sceptic...then drove it up the Stuart Highway and then to Epenarra and onto Canteen Creek. Now I really enjoy my sedans on the black top so the Prada was predictably compliant as my sedan. Then we turned off the sealed road for hundreds of kilometres of dirt, rock unsealed road. "Now this makes sense" Now I see what the fuss is about. Great vehicle. When we got back to The Alice I had to had it back to the boss. If I was to spend more time off road or on unsealed roads with kids or teens, the Prado in base or mid trim would be on the short list.
A gxl with a leather seat package is the go for value has heated cooled seats same climate control system electric seats so it gives a decent amount of features and value.
GXL is the sweetspot the kakadu offers too little for the massive increase in price. Even the VX isn't worth it as they took the KDSS away from it. Peacock black looks good in the showroom but looks horrible after you take it off road.
Do Australians actually order their Prados (or land Cruisers) with a beige interior? I know in North America they love beige interiors. But in Australia?
No need to take the blind out unless you’re putting a bike in. Most people don’t need the 7 seats. Still a nice car. Wish the stereo sound was better and the stereo head unit needs to be hd or oled and the cameras do also. Apart from that it’s a nice car.
You are not made for this car mate. Better get a crossover pseudo suv. This is the most macho along with the most comfortable suv under 100k . The the fird everest is like 90/100 where as this is 95 out of 100. Both suvs are very large and hunked up. Its for those who like feel and looks rather than utmost Versatility
The KDSS is just amazing. It handles so well on road, awesome Aussie invention. just a little video I did on some features people don’t commonly know about/how to use in the Prado, might learn something new :) ruclips.net/video/NysC0e-4JdM/видео.html
I loved my 2000 model and my current 2003 120 Prado both Grandes’. It had its 18th birthday; but can’t go wrong with them I don’t like this new design by Toyota personal opinion

This Gen 3 Ute and MK7 GTI owner just bought a VX in Peacock and I love it.
The 150kw and 500nm moves it from gutless to adequate.

The 2nd row seats tilt and slide forward on the passenger slide.
Fold and tumble, no sliding mechanism.

Great video of my fav vehicle. Wonder what happened to the kangaroo tho
Great review
I luv it ❤️ Cape Town South Africa
Kakadu vs VX, which one better?
I love my Kakadu! 😊

Chris here - yes! About half the LCs and Prados I've been in have tan/cream/etc interiors.
They can do some series 4wding
Just traded my 3yo GXL for a new Kakadu. Love them both.
bxl and kakadu which better brother ?
gxl and kakadu which better brother ?
With six speed automatic transmission👍

This car and the Hilux have really a high centre of gravity. Interesting Toyota has never bothered sorting it out.
My god it is tiny compared to a Kia Carnival. Even without folding any seats Carnival has like 600+ Liters of storage space

I'm to miserable to drop anything north of $60,000 on anything.
Sensible more like.

Except they are asking over 20 grand more than the GXLfor it now
Never watched a vehicle review in the rain
..
The power plant is still an under achiever!
Kakadu,never heard of it...

Dashboard too old model need to upgrade
Get yourself a Mihandra then, they're loaded with extras and tech
Eww that informatinment system is so ugly! Seriously for a car that costs almost 100k WTF were they thinking.
VX > Kakadu
