It seems easy to lead when things are going well. The test of a true leader is how they handle the tough times. A great example from Leif of hanging on and detaching from your emotions even when he thought the end was near. We never lose hope!
Just the message we all needed to hear this week. No matter what challenges I face, Leadership wins. Outstanding. Oh and good relationships get you into BUDs, keep you from dying off a ship, and help you win. Got it!
Excellent points Leif ! If people at every level do a good honest assessment of themselves they can make the necessary adjustments to improve. **when the team wins everyone wins**
What a great message on leadership by one of the best leaders I have had the honor know, to work with and to work for! Great job Leif and thank you for setting such a great example for us to follow.
Thank you Leif for your service to our great nation!! And thank for sharing the lessons you've learned on the battlefield and in your life experience. We cannot thank you enough, and you have changed my life.
Leif’s comment about hanging on just a little longer is what stands out to me personally most. 32 years of industry grind , up and down economies, success, loss, and the question eventually comes…can I keep this drive alive? Not all will persevere, but I heard that voice time and time again yet now I rationalize it away. Not at all dissimilar from Chief Joseph, my thoughts fall prey to a desire to fight no more. It is far easier to run to the idea of rest, than to hang on a little longer even if the water you are taking on are your own tears.
What a wonderful talk that shares such important tips on resilience and overcoming challenges. This talk shows that anyone can lead and do their part to create excellent opportunities for themselves and those on their team. You are such an inspiration, Leif! So glad we connected at TEDxReno.
"Leading up the chain of command" and "leading through difficult times" are two of the concepts that really spoke to me in this talk. Great job, Leif!
Thanks for the opportunity to share the message, Kaya. You and your @tedxreno team were great to work with.

What an ending... "Even in the most challenging times, leadership wins." Such a great reminder that Leadership is always the Solution.
Thanks, Lauren.

Relationships are paramount. Thanks for everything, Lindi.
Great to hear it, Kaya. One of the most challenging but most important applications of leadership.
Excellent points Leif ! If people at every level do a good honest assessment of themselves they can make the necessary adjustments to improve.

Leadership is the solution!
I love this point: "viewing yourself as a leader will change your perspective" (at 2:33)
My favorite part is Leif discussing how he earned his commanding officers trust. Such a powerful truth and reminder that relationships are paramount.
Thanks Kaila. A humbling but impactful lesson I had to learn the hard way

Thanks for your support, Brother. You are a mighty warrior and God is with you.
Great analysis how leadership solves all problems, even in moments where you are on the brink of death. Both physical death and moral death.
Thank you Leif for your service to our great nation!!

Exactly what I needed to hear today. Own the situation, control the outcome, and lead.
Great to hear it, Rob. It's humbling to take ownership, but then you get to own the solution.

Right on, Lance. Hang in there. The situation is never hopeless. Take ownership and look for ways to attack the problem from a different angle.
Incredible stories and lessons to live by. Thanks, Leif.
Thanks for all the cover so I could move on this, Chris.
That was great . Leif is the man 💥🤙👊

Great advice Leif. Do an honest assessment of the situation, don’t lie to the team, and take ownership.
Thank You for your Service! Thank you for the books you wrote and podcasts you made which have helped me immensely.
Leif, it was so great to meet you in Reno! Congrats on all you’ve accomplished and all of the wisdom you’ve accumulated on leadership!
What took you so long to do this? We have been waiting for you to give the world a great TEDx talk for a while.
Phenomenal speech Leif!
