daviddas.com -- I searched the web for a way to auto-generate automatic on-screen captions (including transcription) in Apple's Final Cut Pro, but FCP doesn't offer this feature. Fortunately, there's an easy way to do it, and it's free, easy, and very flexible.
It requires one additional program, which is free: CapCut. CapCut is available for free download for the Mac at capcut.com.
After editing your FCP video, exporting to CapCut is easy, then you can use CapCut's tools to auto-generate captions then edit them to perfection, then bring them back to FCP, and with one tweak of the blend mode, you can get them integrated to your master video. - Видеоклипы
😮 No way!! I was looking for a way to add captions after FCP 10.8 didn’t contain this feature. You sir are a life saver!! Thank you!!
this is the BEST free auto-caption to match FCT, ever! Thank you so much, David!
Hey, this information was a game changer. I'm happy that people like you exist. God bless you!😊
This is absolutely GENIUS...the best subtitling software that I have seen. Wasted a whole day trying to get Captionator (£20 refund in process) and MacWhisper to work. A whole day of converting files from .SRT to CEA-608 and adjusting formats, etc, etc. I find this thing and it just works...it is beautifully simple. I CAN FORMAT. I CAN MOVE THE TEXT!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH.
GAME CHANGER !!! Worked effortlessly. The program does a great job of auto capture which really helps
Thank you SO MUCH FOR THIS! I really wanted to place captions on my videos in a much easier way, and now I'm so glad that I can do so! :)
Thanks so much for doing this video! It's very easy to follow and your technique works perfectly, saving me tons of time!
You sir, have changed the game. You have my utmost gratitude
I quite agree. The other subtitle software is nowhere near as easy.
Thank you for this!! I just used it and your video was an absolutely perfect walk-through!
Soooooo helpful! I can't believe how easy this was to follow and how much time it will save me, thank you very much!
Wow, this is the most amazing video editing help I've seen.. just tried it following you step by step and it worked like magic! Thank you so much!
Yeah honestly ur solution is the only free simple one I could find. Nice job explaining it simply
awesome video!! i found a cool alternative to blending. Import a green jpg and make it the duration of the captions. Export, then use greenscreen key layer effect in fcpx. This also removes background. I found that blending created gradients in different exposure situations. The greenscreen creates constant opacity captions :)
Thank was struggling & thinking the same, works perfectly now
I'm a titkok/reels creator but I love editing in FCPX, you've just saved me so much time with this! Thankyou!
I have been doing this with Capcut but you taught me a new trick with CapCut, thank you!

Thank you David. Fantastic recommendation and very clear tutorial. I downloaded Capcut and had about a 2 minute learning curve. 😀
exactly
Awesome - lifesaver, thank you. I have a wedding video to edit and am using the speeches as the main narrative. I want to be able to quickly identify soundbites from this to create a backbone, and then use this as background to the visuals. I'm going to have a go at using this app for that purpose, to make an audio edit list. Hopefully this will make it a lot easier. Thanks again for the clear and no-nonsense video.
Thank you. This is very much appreciated, it has saved so much time.
Thank you so much! It's a pain to type them out and this will save me tons of time
Thank you very much!!! Solid tip!
Thank you thank you thank you I have been searching for something like this for monthssss. I had tried the Captionator tool, but it sucks at transcribing and it therefore takes me forever to fix all its mistakes and so it's barely a time saver. This seems easy and doable.
Brilliant stuff, huge help!
Outstanding! You saved the day, thanks much!
just what I was looking for! Thanks so much.
Awesome! Thank you!!!

Awesome tutorial, thanks!!
somebody get this man a youtube plaque!! Quality! Thank you my man
Thank you so much for this video🙏👐
Wow Thank you for this video!
There's another way for exporting too. You can just unchecked the video exporting at the export window, it will export a srt file, then you can just import captions with the srt file on FCP. 👍
Yes but it appears you need to have a paid account to do this unless you figured out another way????? David's way essential creates open captions, I'm looking for the best workflow for closed.
@@televisiontimschannel Nope, I didn't pay for my Capcut. But the thing is you'll be importing the captions as caption function instead of an lower third layer like David's way.
@@deakinng Hmmmm.... When I uncheck "video exporting" the Export button greys out. So you are saying on your version your Export button works even when video exporting is unchecked? Is there anything else checked?
@@televisiontimschannel That's wired. I didn't even sign in. I just press export, than uncheck the export video box, press export, than it'll show a captions exported window with the option to open folder or press ok. Nothing extra steps I did more than those.
Just downloaded CapCut and tried it. It worked fine - created an SRT file just how you said it.
Thanks, you made my day
Outstanding, thank you
thanks for the tip mate.
Great video man thank you!
Dave for the win!! 🙌🏾
thank you, you explained it so clearly that even I understood ;). TXH
Just one slight problem, it is no longer free on Mac App Store. Web base works fine.

heck yah man thank you a million.
Awesome ! Thanks man !!!!
Thank you sir!
OH MY GOD DUDE. I've been looking for this exact solution for weeks! So many searches everywhere. And then YT algorithm just dropped this video on my main page. I almost didn't click it thinking it wasn't going to have the solution I'm looking for. My idea was to get a transparent video out of Capcut with caption in it. Found no info on if that was even possible. I didn't even think about the blend mode trick even though I know photoshop well enough to know this lol. This just solved the only problem I've been having!
BTW you should make the title more meaningful by adding automatic AND animated. Animated caption is the craze these days. With the blend mode trick you can get that too. Even better, make another video showing how to use the animated caption and not the simple looking "serious talking head" caption. Make the thumbnail show the colourful bold animated "Mr. Beast" style caption too.
thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
uoww !!! Tksss !!! I try just export to .srt in to capcut, but , I dont like ! But , in your mode just perfect works for me !! tkss again !!!!
Great video.
Thank you kindly good sir!
DOPE THANKS!
Very useful thanks! The transitions are nice, but those white swiping ones in particular are a bit blinding, btw. But thanks for the really useful info!
Thanks 🙏🏽
Legend!
fcp is loosing in this AI era no doubt about it
All of this, and more in the new subscription version
You need to provide more details for blend mode in the inspector. It took me an hour and half to find it which was ridiculous.
Perfect !!!
brilliant
wow, thank you
Gracias !!!
This is very clever! Thank you!
Do you have a trick to import the transitions and effects from capcut too? They are so advanced compared to fcpx. 👍
[ISSUE: ONLY PLAIN TEXT COLOR EXPORTED] This is great. The only issue I keep getting is that exported subs will keep only the text color. If I add a stroke, effects, shadow, this won't be exported or it may be but once I change blend mode to add I only get plain color text. Still, this is way better than manually doing the whole work
If you use a different text colour, like black, will the blend mode still work?
Great!
Great stuff! For some reason when I export to my final cut ...the letters are a "ghosty" transparency, any suggestions?
