If you press Shift and B it creates the in point and out point on the clip also adding the speed ramping controls and then you can manually adjust the speed, which is faster method I feel.
I used to use the Shift+B method, but honestly I think your method gives you so much more control. Love the tips about moving the thingys to increase the smoothness too, that works really well. Thanks for the video, you have made my speed ramping work so much more enjoyable and effective!
"Changing the end frame" thank you so much for that tip, been struggling with end my speed ramps where I want them! Clear delivery too. Great channel, keep up the good work.
Using the range tool to speed up to the end point looks much better than cutting a clip and just speeding it up. Thanks for the simple tutorial, going to start implementing this into future videos!
This was very helpful. I watched a bunch of other videos on speed ramping, but they all wanted me to purchase and download a plug-in. Your explanation didn't cost me any money, and was easy to understand. Thanks for this! You're awesome!
I watched a ton of tuts on this topic and this is the best explanation so far. Liked & subscribed. Please do more tuts regarding FCP like this. Many thanks👍
thanks for this video...I found speed ramps always a pain in the ass because of the exact start and end point, now with the range tool it looks way easier...just learned something, thanks m8!
I wasn’t aware that I could do this starting from the range tool. I’ve always used the Speed Blade tool, which yields the exact same results, and is about the same ease-of-use. The range tool might be slightly easier. Thanks for showing this method.
Thank you 🙏🏾 I have to say I love your teaching style it’s clear it’s concise it’s broken down with multiple examples! You have a new sub and I hope you have the time to do more tutorials! As a newbie creative this kind of information is invaluable so kudos and thank you!
This is great pal, thanks for the video and loved the delivery. Problem I now have is I will be speed ramping like a demon in all my edits now, I won't be able to help myself..!
But what to do if I try to slow that clip down by draging on the right upper corner. And when doing that it expands not only to the right, but in both ends?😬
Personally I think you could time the ramps in and out to where you want it when the beat hits. For example, when the kick hits on a trap beat, you could start the ramp and then fade it out after the snare or something. Does that make sense? I can maybe think about making a video on it
i didn't know i needed this - great video Will, appreciate this a ton! Been using the jarring effect for too long. Excited to try this out. I would compare that little gray area you mentioned to the same fundamental concept of an audio fade tool - gradually eases in and out, but you can manipulate exactly how much you want it to fade in and out. Thanks again! -Brian
I'm struggling with this. I follow the steps you provide but everytime I drag one of the bars in one direction or another, it changes the speed of the other aspects of the clip and destroys the overall effect. Such as if I speed up the center part then the other parts start to speed up too and that destroys the slow motion aspect.
Wow awesome tips bro keep up the great work, this was very helpful, great way to break it down and explain this, I never knew about that by using the range tool I always did it the older way and videos look all choppy. Great video happy holidays god bless
awesome job man! So you use the range tool instead of using (shift + B) to set your speed ramp points? Just double checking that I'm not missing something. Also thanks for showing you can double click on the line to edit your speed ramp points, I've been trying to figure that out.
Been trying to get this effect with just the shift B like someone said in the comments..... never got it this smoove and you can't... and you can't edit your edits..... only undoes... and wr all kmow they go in order like backups.... anyway Still trying to get all the very very smoove
If you press Shift and B it creates the in point and out point on the clip also adding the speed ramping controls and then you can manually adjust the speed, which is faster method I feel.
Yeah idk why he’s suggesting using the range tool. Shift + B much faster!
your shift B comment is very usefull! thanks dude !
Thanks.
U save my life either ❤️
Great to seethe Battery in Charleston in those early clips.
I'm on James Island... about to binge watch the other cool-looking FCPX tips.
Cheers.

Let’s go! Glad I could help you out in any way
I’m with you dude I’ve been using it since the beginning of high school and this will be great to use!!
I used to use the Shift+B method, but honestly I think your method gives you so much more control. Love the tips about moving the thingys to increase the smoothness too, that works really well. Thanks for the video, you have made my speed ramping work so much more enjoyable and effective!

Using the range tool to speed up to the end point looks much better than cutting a clip and just speeding it up. Thanks for the simple tutorial, going to start implementing this into future videos!
Always use the range tool, but the moving of the ‘whatever they are called’ was totally new to me - brilliant video - thanks 👍
This was very helpful. I watched a bunch of other videos on speed ramping, but they all wanted me to purchase and download a plug-in. Your explanation didn't cost me any money, and was easy to understand. Thanks for this! You're awesome!

Dude, great video! Thanks for making this and keep it up!
Thanks for the tips man! Extremely useful with clear instructions.
I wasn’t aware that I could do this starting from the range tool. I’ve always used the Speed Blade tool, which yields the exact same results, and is about the same ease-of-use. The range tool might be slightly easier. Thanks for showing this method.
Thanks for the great vid, I watched someone else's video but this was much more simple and helpful. Trying to learn how to do cool real estate videos.
This is awesome! I never thought of using Range for a speed ramp. Now I might just use speed ramps a bit more often.
great video ...please post a easy tutorial like this about working with key frames
Great video. Simple, to the point, and effective. This helped my editing immensely. Thanks bud!
Thank you 🙏🏾 I have to say I love your teaching style it’s clear it’s concise it’s broken down with multiple examples! You have a new sub and I hope you have the time to do more tutorials! As a newbie creative this kind of information is invaluable so kudos and thank you!

This is awesome! Thank you for sharing these great tips for FCPX.
But what to do if I try to slow that clip down by draging on the right upper corner. And when doing that it expands not only to the right, but in both ends?😬
You can do the very same thing with the shift+b shortcut also
Perfect results, thanks a lot for the tutorial!
Such a dope tut. This one video made me subscribe! Keep up the excellent work!
How would you use this method to speed ramping to music beats?
Personally I think you could time the ramps in and out to where you want it when the beat hits. For example, when the kick hits on a trap beat, you could start the ramp and then fade it out after the snare or something. Does that make sense? I can maybe think about making a video on it
thanks for the tips, nice clean video :)
OMFG THANK YOU!! This was exactly what I needed!!
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
This was really bloody good!
Excellent and to the point tutorial. Thanks
Funny and straight to the point 😂💪🏾

Thank you! That’s awesome, I’m glad this video helped you out! And good point about the fading in and out. That makes sense.
You can easily press SHIFT + B rather than using range tool.

Im same with you, I choose SHIFT + B .. and yes the edit speed ramp points is a good trick here. Salute
@@teddymanangka is the range tool essentially the same thing as Shift+B?

Have you shown other techniques for editing? Maybe such as adding something simple as subtitles or add effects to a clip?
