If we give tax-exemption status to religion (like Scientology) because of the supposed help they provide to the community...why are people still homeless? I will provide one reason: many transition homes are faith based, where you must worship their particular god. And if you can’t fake it, you will not make it.
@@Bat_Boy Hi, Bat Boy. Yes, there's such a long term permanent housing shortage in the country, my state, California in particular. Sad to say, many conservative Christians are against affordable housing. They think you should pay top dollar ( market rates). Shelters are dirty, violent and dangerous places that most homeless people fear, and won't go to. Shelters don't lead to housing automatically. For one, there's not enough housing anyway- it hasn't been built ! In my state, apartments haven't been built since 1980, for sure. Just luxury apartments, malls and offices went up, for 40 years. Shelters often warehouse people, and profit from the homeless. They are paid plenty to keep people from getting housing, actually. Five people are found dead each day in Los Angeles County alone !! There's many bodies that never get found. Ronald Reagan said, in 1984, that being homeless is a choice. As he cut HUD by 80%. And sold off the buildings. Wait times to get into a subsidized housing complex takes 5- 20 years, minimum. Don't take my word for it. Do some research,if this is a subject of interest. Housing is investing in society. Hi Mark and Co. What wonderful human beings you are, to educate the world about themselves! People and homes equals a productive happy life!! 🌟🏡🏡🌿🍃🌻💐🌺👩👩👦👦🆎💞💞
I really liked this video. I've been homeless on and off for 20 years and I know many of the walls that we the homeless can meet. If 12000 people were to work together we could get for homeless people off the street for one year.
Welcome! Hi, I'm just East of Traverse City in Mancelona, Michigan. Love watching your videos and it brings a light to the homeless problem in this country. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
As someone who is homeless and been couch surfing and about to go to the streets what you said at about the 46min mark is dead on! It's hard to trust people when even though they mean well the stuff promised never comes through and then programs get cut off and we feel like no matter what we do it never works out. Being disabled, homeless and having had so many betray me and my trust is very hard to keep going. Since there are no homeless shelters near me and the people in the community don't believe there are homeless in our community they just call the cops so can't stay around here. So I'm looking at having to hitch a ride 2 hours away from where I live to try to see if it's better there.
Being homeless is one of the hardest jobs in the world. I was homeless for 3 years and I know very well what you are describing. Being homeless makes a person very vulnerable. People will in fact prey upon you. Even when you find a place to live, if you live around the poor and they see you have gotten something they also will start keeping and eye on you and if you don't give them what they want they will go after you. Slum lords who pretend they're good people helping the poor are some of the most dangerous. I was just in a terrible situation with a slum lord and I cannot thank The Michigan Atty Generals office enough got stepping in and protecting me. The slum lord is a scam artist and if he comes after you for money, for no reason, and you don't pay up he has NO problem making sure he will destroy you. He WILL send you to a collection agency and they will go after your credit score to destroy you. He does it all the time. Been doing it for years. Man the stories I could tell. It's such a scary world out there.

why do so many rural communities not bother helping the homeless? the churches are not taxed and donations they get are hefty but dont go towards building tiny housing with electric and plumbing hookups?
Chris F That is a very good question. Many rural communities have very little help including churches. Many people turn there back to the people who are down and out. I just saw an elderly couple living out of their campervan get arrested and their vehicle towed away for being homeless.
yes its gotten way out of hand. i dont know why the system is set up the way it is or who can fix it. but it is retarded and criminal what is happening to ill and disabled and elderly people. they have a right to housing per the constitution, but are not getting it.
when i return to guam and do get a rental there i want to set up a food box/give and take stand if possible for people to grab and leave stuff for others in need. the housing part i dont know, that is a little tougher because you would have to section off a piece of your land for tenting and make sure its legal and safe for everyone involved.
Chris F You have to be very careful and check with the regulations in your area to make sure you can feed people cuz you can get in trouble for that. As for housing you can help set up a fundraiser to help the people of housing and then that's a good way to help people.
One thing I always come back to when watching videos like this is, most people have others that can help. Friends, family, etc. It's pretty rare that people have nobody to turn to. Now, with that said, there has to be a want, and humility, to make that happen. I've just always been curious about this.
Housing and basic necessity is costing nearly everyone the majority of their income. We have an inflated cost of living that is squeezing the life out of people just to have a place to legally exist. We should go after the land lords and bankers who play monopoly with human lives.
Wow. Thanks guys. Nice hair. Remember it may seem like your doing something small like giving out a tent or coat but to somebody who needs it your making a big impact. Thanks again!!!

Its great that so many people are helping the homeless, isn't Maddison a lovely girl, she's definitely following her vocation and its obvious that she's going to be making positive differences for people, like many of you are doing. I pray that we have many more lovely people like you all to help with this devastating situation.
I live in Michigan I've been to Traverse City one time I did not ever think at all that there would be quite a few homeless people there wow that's so sad
Zoning laws are government control of land use. These laws inflate the cost of housing and rent because it is outside of market forces. Everytime the government messes with the marketplace the price goes up.
@@chrisf6037 across the world *, in Europe too, the only country in the world that solved giving housing is Finland 🇫🇮, and isn't an old new, it happened just arround more than a year ago
in Europe we have basically the same problem: the accomodation cost has literally exploded at the end of 1900 -first of 2000 especially around the biggest cities as Paris, London, Frankfurt, Monaco, Milan and so on; the home is a primary need and unfortunately there is too much real estate business around this need and the governments ignore the issue: it's the market law.
Governments could keep the prices of housing down......it's as if people want to gouge at the very worst time in recent memory. Much of funding seems to go into new cars for Staff that run shelters.
@@terywetherlow5980 Yup ! Investors and speculators prefer to keep buildings empty for tax benefits. They are buying up lot of land in California, at least half are foreign investors. They only want to build commercial buildings, not just moderate, decent housing, like it was done before 1980.
Thank you Ryan for your calming respectful advocy in your community and for caring. Truly insightful and solution solving action....great model for your nation and globally to learn from. Thank you for your tiresome work.
Beware those false churches with false teachers and false prophets and false apostles deceiving and teaching unBiblical things while making a show of “doing good deeds”. Their condemnation as God declared is permanent and God warned for all to beware them.
What Ryan, Goodwill and this community are doing just shows that as an organized group we can do so much more to help those in dire need. I'm impressed that the churches all came together to keep the safe harbor facility open. So often churches are given a bad rap with homeless advocates bashing them. As a Christian it offends me because I know many churches do so much good for the impoverished. Ryan and all the support of this community is a model for us to follow. When multiple groups come together they can do so much more and provide many needed services in an organized fashion. One other thing I found refreshing...Ryan is a humble soft spoken person who really gets the job done in an approachable way. We need more "Ryan's". He truly is a good man doing great works for others. I had seen last year's video Mark, saw your recent interview with Michael too. What a difference a year makes in a positive way. I'm sorry tho that Michael is not well. He's a likeable guy who's had much sorrow in his young life. Thank you for sharing this vid with us. We can all do more. . Mark I'd like your hair short.
Not sure if you saw the video from last year’s visit but it showcases the churches day center. I also have a vlog on the channel of a ministry in Dallas that helped a large group of homeless people go directly from under a bridge and directly into housing. Really amazing. You are right, this is a model more churches should follow. Sadly, most churches are just a county club. As things like homelessness continue to get worse, I strongly believe it’s faith based groups working together to help their communities will be the solution.
Those are mostly false churches and they destroy what’s left - I.e - the soul. The Bible warns repeatedly to avoid false churches aka synagogues of Satan, false teachers, false prophets, false apostles, etc. Look it up.
Cool episode, reminds me of the day's I worked in community mental health as a case manager, I receive services now due to having a chronic mental illness and history of episodic homelessness. Keep up the great work!

You are amazing, so dynamic for creating awareness to the sad, taboo yet very real subject of homelessness , yet so caring and sensitive to the needs of the homeless, which many do not have. You show great respect, love and care and you are to be praised for your dedication. . Which areas are really affected in the US, as I live in England. You are also an inspiration, not just to me, as a human being but also infectious to others to create action and positive solutions to all affected. What can I do practically to help you, I can offer my fine writing skills, offer practical suggestions. I would just like some way in which to support you in achieving homes for all concerned,
California is really affected by homelessness. And the homeless, no matter how innocent, as in working, or seniors and disabled people, are treated like vermin and persecuted. The oligarchs oppose affordable housing. And believe that they can arrest themselves out of homeless issues. Instead of creating enough of a housing supply to end it .
Thanks. I really want to produce the vlogs more but I don’t have the time. Figured I’d just try and get them up until I can figure out how to do more or get some help.
I can relate to so many of your stories since i to have been Homeless More than i haven't been since being released from prison in 2012. I don't know what i can do but I have been praying for it and putting all the things i would like to do in perspective and begun the list to achieve that big goal

Law's that protect the Homeless, and insure their help need to be made to help them. Until Homeless support laws are passed, nothing will be able to change.
It's my goal to one day, be able to buy abandoned homes/hotels; and use them for housing for the homeless. If/when that happens, I hope I'll be able to work with Mark.
That is the purpose of The Chrurch! We are our brothers keeper! I agree, everyone starts sentences with "so" and "I mean" bugs me. Lol. since the eviction moratorium ended, homelessness will be worse. I was living in a car for a while after my dad died in Denver.

Its great that so many people are helping the homeless, isn't Maddison a lovely girl, she's definitely following her vocation and its obvious that she's going to be making positive differences for people, like many of you are doing. I pray that we have many more lovely people like you all to help with this devastating situation.
Very good job! Thank you for everything you guys do!!
Thanks for your kind words
I live in Michigan I've been to Traverse City one time I did not ever think at all that there would be quite a few homeless people there wow that's so sad
Rent is so expensive it very hard for working folks to afford housing , it's just not a homeless problem !
Homelessness is the symptom, not the cause.
MrOrlandobob2 people are blind to see the truth.
nothing is being done to keep housing affordable across the country. i think more tiny houses with taxes from churches or other means might be good.
I love what all of you do, keep up the great work and thanks for producing this amazing documentary. 👍
in Europe we have basically the same problem: the accomodation cost has literally exploded at the end of 1900 -first of 2000 especially around the biggest cities as Paris, London, Frankfurt, Monaco, Milan and so on; the home is a primary need and unfortunately there is too much real estate business around this need and the governments ignore the issue: it's the market law.
I am impressed by the 24 churches working together like that
Beware those false churches with false teachers and false prophets and false apostles deceiving and teaching unBiblical things while making a show of “doing good deeds”. Their condemnation as God declared is permanent and God warned for all to beware them.
Bless all of you and what you are doing. ★peace

Extraordinary Amazing work, Thankyou so much for your compassion, God bless and stay safe,In the name of Jesus Christ Amen 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️
Here's the Dallas vlog ruclips.net/video/N6sJXHe448E/видео.html
God bless you and the wonderful work you do.
So nice to see so many comments from people who are understanding of the homeless people take care everyone love to all 💙💫🎶
You guys are great. God bless!
Its so good to hear churches helping people!!!!
Those are mostly false churches and they destroy what’s left - I.e - the soul. The Bible warns repeatedly to avoid false churches aka synagogues of Satan, false teachers, false prophets, false apostles, etc. Look it up.
@@EmilyGloeggler7984 false or not, they are helping more than so called real churches
Cool episode, reminds me of the day's I worked in community mental health as a case manager, I receive services now due to having a chronic mental illness and history of episodic homelessness. Keep up the great work!
We need more people like you to get our storys out

No shelter should close "for a season", especially
During winter !! I can't believe what I heard,!!breaks my heart !! 😐
I thought that was strange too...during the coldest season, it is needed the most. Closed?
That's good people helping the homeless people it's needed
I'm in Grand Rapids Mi and homeless, yet I have a job nobody is immune.

Mark I think your attitude is so cute ~ you kinda like lighten the load with humor & make the video more up lifting... it’s not too over the top... just right! Take care🎄
🙏
Good place to be in woods nice and quiet .
Mark, I love your videos. Thanks for caring enough to bring these stories to RUclips. Trump wish he had hair like yours.
Madison is awesome! (and so are you, Mark)
You two are the best ❤️❤️💕
Y’all have beautiful hearts and that’s what matters most🤷♀️❤️
I really like your new format Mark.
Thanks. I really want to produce the vlogs more but I don’t have the time. Figured I’d just try and get them up until I can figure out how to do more or get some help.
Very infinitive and enlightening
Brilliant video now I knowore about what you do thank you for your kindness 🌟🌟
I can relate to so many of your stories since i to have been Homeless More than i haven't been since being released from prison in 2012. I don't know what i can do but I have been praying for it and putting all the things i would like to do in perspective and begun the list to achieve that big goal
Yeah like I said before last comment I left if I have the hero he's my hero you know he does good mature is more people in the world like him I'm basically at my last straw though depression is really kicking me in the butt
Hi.mark your work is so greatfull
Helping to others specially for our homeless brothers & sisters.
Police saved my life by taking me to this mental health place that placed me in the hospital.
Hope ur doing well now.
Hope all is well.
LOL. Good one.
So police took you to a place where that place took you to another place.
That one was good! LMAO
Cops pulled me over at age 19 and sexually harassed me. ACAB.
Everything is fine now, that was so long ago
Law's that protect the Homeless, and insure their help need to be made to help them. Until Homeless support laws are passed, nothing will be able to change.
Excellent video Mark even though your a little loud but a good guy keep up the good work. And a huge hug from Canada
It's my goal to one day, be able to buy abandoned homes/hotels; and use them for housing for the homeless. If/when that happens, I hope I'll be able to work with Mark.
LOAblue mine is same kind of but with a working farm where they can also work and learn how to be self sustaining.
Just seeing this! Love it!
Privacy is very important!
All I can say is WOW!
God bless you Mark !!!!!!!!
Mark u r the angel for homeless people
If I could be half the man Ryan is....I'd be happy
Tesla is why you are doing for the homeless people keep it up guys good job and God bless you
Sending Good Vibes, Brittany!
Great blog and I'm happy to see Michigan features. Mark, keep you hair long! :-)
Great Work.
Praying the tiny house movement will become legal so individuals can have their own homes.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is the purpose of The Chrurch! We are our brothers keeper! I agree, everyone starts sentences with "so" and "I mean" bugs me. Lol. since the eviction moratorium ended, homelessness will be worse. I was living in a car for a while after my dad died in Denver.
Great video 👍🕯
Madison is beautiful and she has nice hair too!
Hey Mark!! Where is Travers City?? Also when are you going to come back to Vancouver? If and when you do you should come over to Maple Ridge and Port Coquitlam and check out the tent cities there!!
It's in Michigan. I hope to get to Vancouver sometime this year. Right now I am helping to take care of my mom.
Invisible People if only people were as compassionate as you are!!! My mom works with maple ridge mental health and she primarily helps her clients to find housing!!! I hope you are enjoying your day!!
You should take her to your quiet room at your church building together
Because this woman is not only feeling hopeless
She is isolating herself
PTSD
Get her into the heat before it is to late
She has depression too
God bless
I am sure it was all Ryan could do to get her to meet him at a public location, like Taco Bell. She certainly wouldn't get into a car with him, or likely trust a cab on her own.
Yes I agree! Long hair looks great on you👍
Traverse. City is so much fun so everyone must come up north soon to sample delicious food
ty beautiful ppl.
Keep the good work up
Good work
I love what you do, love works 😁
great vlog!
Lol, ‘police are awesome’, hahaha! You’re funny. 😄
