    I've got this same model. Got mine around last Halloween for $879 shipped, and mine included everything shown here, including all the contouring wheels and everything, and I can honestly say best purchase I've ever made for my knife shop. I use it ALL day EVERY day. I usually work 12-16 hours a day, and this thing runs at least half of that actual time. Made hundreds of pieces with it. It paid for itself in 2 weeks vs using my old, modified HF 1x30. I fully intend to have a nice USA made, custom 2x72 (or 2) by the end of my career... But until then, I will gladly use my vevor. I'll put it this way, if it blew up tomorrow and burned to the ground and I didn't have a warranty on it (I do, and vevor are great with that stuff) I would order another one before the debris was cool enough to sweep up.
    Edit: I use Combat abrasives shredder ceramic belts for heavy stock removal and j flex ceramics for finishing. I use cheap aluminum oxide belts for most wood projects. Only mod I did to mine was the little notch in the back at the end of the bar to clear the motor, in order to run the 2x72 instead of 2x82. 2 mins tops. Love this thing.

    I just got this grinder in trade and it's the exact model you have. Yesterday I received the 2x72 belts so I'm gonna have to do exactly what you did. I appreciate the video! Thanks to you, I now know what I have to do to make the 2x72 belts run easy. I'm going to reference this video in the future when I recommend this grinder to other beginners

      If it's not too late, all you need to do is notch the tool arm. That alone provides enough room for 2x72 belts.

    Great video. Mine just arrived a week ago and I just received a selection of 2x72 belts. I'm new to this. I'll start with notching the tool bar to clear the fins, and do the other mods if that's not enough. Also, everyone talks about eventually buying a good American belt grinder. Meanwhile, I've read many comments from several videos on this machine and not a single complaint about performance or quality. Seems like most are expecting it to self destruct before its time, but we'll see. I'm hoping it's my forever grinder. It solid as a rock. Thanks again for the video.

      ThAnx for watching. So far mine is still going strong. The only other thing I did to mine is make a bigger work table/tool rest, whatever you want to call it. Makes it much nicer to use a bevel jig if you’re making knives.

      @@TheJClarkShow Thanks for the reply. Yep mine is running great. I'll see if I need a larger work platform. The other viewer was correct, all I needed to do was notch the tool arm and 2x72 fit nicely. My latest model only comes with one tool arm. I'm going to fabricate a 2nd so I'll keep one set up for the platen, and share the other between the contour wheel and small wheels. It's a little bit of a pain to exact 90° for the platen each time it's swapped for another tool and back. Great video. I wouldn't have known what to do without it. I'm now a subscriber :-)

    If you get a standard Ethernet cable, you can pop the display off the VFD/inverter, mount the VFD away from all the grinding dust, and mount the control box away from grinding dust, like under the table.

  • @JacksonDunnoKnows

    Nice. I will keep this in mind. A few questions if ya don't mind? How does it grind? Is the speed an issue or was that just how it looked in the video? Does it seem to still be sturdy after a couple months? I'm currently using a Bauer 4x36 from HF. I needed something in the moment and thought I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I got the 2 year protection plan. I'm on my second one in 3 months... they like to stall and over heat with very little pressure. And I mean little... I try to take care of my equipment as best I can, and yeah... 🍻

    • @TheJClarkShow

      So far it’s doing good. I’ve done a good bit of grinding with it and it seems to be holding up. If you get the variable speed grinder you can crank it up to 900 rpm’s I think, I’ve run it at around 750 so far without any issues. I’d still recommend a higher dollar grinder if you can swing it. I’ll still be upgrading to something better in the future, but I needed something faster so I decided to try this thing out. I’ll run it til it dies lol.

    • @JacksonDunnoKnows
      @JacksonDunnoKnows 2 года назад

      @@TheJClarkShow good to know. Eventually I will opt for a better one, but most of the grinding I do is light to medium. It might be a nice addition. The Bauer works, but it has those issues, and takes awhile to grind down the harder stuff. Part for for course.
      Thanks brother!

    seems to me the simplest way to fit a 72 in belt and not lose any of the platen arm length is to move the motor rase it 1/2 ", easy to weld bolt or clamp an extension plate for the motor mounts, got one ordered from amazon 649 plus tax delivered by nov 14 , easy to build a dust proof box for the vfd , just add filtered pc fans for intake and exhaust , I will wire it for 220 forget using the power transformer ,just more crap that will cause problems down the road

    • @TheJClarkShow
      @TheJClarkShow  Год назад

      Moving the motor back also moves the drive pulley back, that wouldn’t change anything really. Smaller wheels or a different tensioner set up could be a way to go. My modifications were the cost effective and extremely simple way to do it. And the notch doesn’t effect anything, the arm is still factory length on top. I can still run the smallest contour roller with a 2x82 belt if I wanted to, the notch is nowhere close to to the tension screws for the arm. Now a dust shield and filtered fans would definitely extend the life of the vfd, that’s on my to do list. And 220 would be much more efficient, unfortunately I’m stuck with the transformer til I can build a new shop and actually get 220 in there lol.

    Wait they said it goes to 2x72 tho?

    • @TheJClarkShow
      @TheJClarkShow  Год назад +1

      Who’s they? You can run a 2x72 on the small contact wheels without any modifications, but that doesn’t really make a versatile grinder lol. Trust me, I tried fitting belts on this thing every way imaginable before modifying. Now you could spend more money and put smaller pulleys on, but the point of the vevor and these mods is to get up and running with a 2x72 at half the cost of other(better) brands. This is also last years machine, maybe they made a new model that takes both?

      @@TheJClarkShow yea just reading of descriptions of Amazon it says 2x82 belt grinder under that is says fits 72in to 82in belts so I was kind of skeptical then saw ur vid and was like if it doesn't could modify it

    • @TheJClarkShow
      @TheJClarkShow  Год назад +1

      I’d say that’s a sale ploy lol. But yeah if you need a cheap grinder these can be modified pretty easily to work with 2x72. I bought some combat abrasives belts and so far it’s done pretty good. There are things that could be better but that’s the draw back to buying cheap lol. The framework is pretty solid on these though, so if you’re a fabricator it’s possible to build off of the base and make a pretty good grinder over time.
