With todays tech we could also have bomber cameras and efficient fly-by-wire ordinance...since the pilot doesnt have to do everything. Battlefield has just lost its way, its a solo game about instant gratification now. Most people just zerg rush objectives. I get bored pretty quickly playing now because its like a seal clubbing game, seems liek noone has a fucking brain. I can easily rack up multiple kills attacking any objective because I dont just 'w + shift' at the enemy.

    • @xShredsx
      @xShredsx Год назад +9

Sure it had its flaws but it also gave you a reason to protect those spawns and not just zerg rush over and over. It promoted team play and tactical thinking. With some intelligent map design spawn camping them from across the map would be difficult. Same for the static emplacements in BF2 (like the radar). They open up so much more dynamic gameplay, instead of just watching tickets bleed until the attacker either pushes hard enough or doesnt.
if people really felt it was a huge issue they could also just make them invulnerable at their spawn points until someone gets in them....I dont like this idea but it is a solution to the (non) problem
Nto realted but in order to fix zerg rushing I believe giving both sides LESS tickets would encourage more medic play. AS it stands there are enough tickets that games last long enough for revives not being necessary. If they lowered the ticket count, peopl would lose extremely quickly and realize the value of revive, since noone really likes getting wiped instantly.

From the other side, it was also cool because you could see the pods coming in and figure out where the enemy spawn beacon was.

Battlefield's best forgotten feature was the hot-swap mechanic from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (The console port of Battlefield 2).
In the single player campaign you can swap to any soldier or vehicle in the level with the simple press of a button.
It felt like you were playing as a group of soldiers, not an individual.
DICE teased it in Battlefield 1's intro campaign mission. It would have been perfect for BF1's setting, showing the futility of charging trenches in WW1.
I wish they would bring it back and make a single player campaign that revolves around an army, not an individual soldier.

Out of every single feature listed in this video, the one I have utilised the most, and which holds the most utility power for me is this: the inclusion of live video feed for spawns, so that when you selected a squad member, team base, or vehicle, you didn't immediately die. Why i love this is because of one of BF4's major issues, which is spawning. You would often literally die almost instantly when you spawned because of spawn trapping or proximity/AOE from artillery or missile fire. Even using this feature, it still happened a lot. But I definitely loved how we got this.

In most every BF game, there is only one 3D camera. BF4 made things interesting by adding the 3D view in the normally 2D spawn screen. We don't see this in later games as they use the 3D overhead spawn screen.
BF4 did toy with having limited resolution 3D views within the normal 3D world (security monitors in Lancang Dam among them). Being able to have two 3D views would allow things like magnifying scopes that don't also magnify the gameworld, and mirrors and monitors in vehicles. (I do wonder if it is possible to add "super resolution" to a player's central view to allow scopes via lens filters. Limited raytracing could also handle mirrors.)

So before I moved to a townhouse I used to like in an apartment you can search it up it is called Tall Oaks apartments in Laurel Maryland so the layout is all flat no stairs once you enter the apartment there will be the living room then the kitchen after that to the right the first door the main bathroom with a tub the next three rooms strait is my mom's and little sister bedroom left me and my little brother bedroom then right the litten closet. So one night when I was still afraid of the dark my mom had the bathroom light on so that night after I had gotten a nightmare of a zombie apocalypse and I was trying to fall back asleep I heard snapping noises getting loader and loader then it just stopped so I went to the source the living room no one was there so I just ran back to me and my brother's room turn on the T.V. and went to sleep with that on. So the next day my mom asked why the T.V. was on and I told her chills went down our backs because she was awakened from that as well she saw the T.V. light was on and she just did the same thing luckily it was the weekend and that was the first and last thing that had happened to us people thinks I'm lying until my mom also confirmed it at first they didn't believe it until the look on me and my mother's face even the others had chills just from how terrifying it really was.

It's really cool to see how many of these features have gone to live on a different games. My favorite Battlefield was Battlefield 2, and it seems like the spiritual successor to that game has been Squad ( which came from the Project Reality mod for bf2).
Squad takes so many of the good things from the battlefield series, and makes them better!

In Battlefield 3 Beta, they tried having the ammo system in a way that you would drop all remaining ammo in the mag if you reloaded before empty. Unpopular opinion but i personally loved it cause it made you think more before reloading and keeping in mind that you will run out of ammo quick, like you would in reality. Also it would have made Supports more important.

maybe an unpopular one, but the attrition system for vehicles I felt really helped bring some balance to these powerful assets. building the repair/resupply points in V was definitely a great way to keep your tanks going and added a good synergy between infantry and armor. Now it feels like these high powered vehicles sit miles off the objectives bombarding you infinitely

In there lies part of the problem it seems that Dice with every battlefield never really builds off or improves on the previous titles. And seem to opt for reinventing the wheel for good or ill and with 2042 they seemed to really go for the Tacticasual approach.

My greatest battlefield moments were in bf4- heart pumping when the tickets count down to 1-0 and literally everyone was holding their breath. After that would be first time I called in the rocket on Narvik when the tickets were really close (no idea what I was doing) when it dropped it was the game winning kill (most of the enemy team). I love this franchise so much and hope they start to listen to us.

I miss the more advanced movement mechanics like jumping prone on my back, rolling on a fall, crouch running etc. But one of the biggest ones I miss is some sort of leaning mechanic. Even though battlefield is fairly arcadey it had a nice bit of realistic immersion built in and all those cool movement options really added to that feeling. Now my soldier feels like a stiff robot who has to put his whole body around a corner to shoot and has such an old feeling range of motion. Takes away the elite soldier tactical feel so I hope they figure it out and bring some of those options back

My ideal Battlefield game would be Battlefield 1 style Operations mode, weather system, and possibly behemoths, Battlefield V buildables and vehicle spawn system, and Battlefield 2042 weapon/vehicle progression system with solo/coop mode (it’s just really nice to be able to grind out attachments quickly solely by kills and not worry about completing ridiculous missions like killing once with every weapon type in a match or shoot down a plane with an LMG) with Battlefield 4 DLC updates, class system, and Levolution.
