I like how you can tell “stealing the diamond” was the intended finale for the series, all from how insane the levels choosen get. (Gaint monster, police chases,)
Exactly stealing the diamond had like four ways of just getting him and they did a great job by having the government come after him.
Also the teleporter is the correct option
I will never forget The Henry Stickmin Collection, I remember playing the original games and watching all the many let's plays about it, heck it even was my introduction to indie games and indie works in general, Henry will forever be a legend
Same, but it was not only my introduction to indie games, it was my introduction to video games in general.
I think the Charles death scene works so well because of the time between Airship to Complex, then the time between them, to Completing the Mission. It hits so hard because we had time to get attached to the character and make fan content. Without that time, I think all we'd see is Henry meeting him and going on two adventures so we'd know that Henry likes the character, but we would be less attached.
i did actually laugh out loud at the xXn00bslayerXx “highlight reel” because it’s such a good parody of an internet era i think everyone is glad we left behind. i think they made the perfect choice to use all the cringy but classic editing bits over henry absolutely failing to do something cool and ultimately shooting ellie. it wouldn’t hit the same if it was used in a different failure

probably my second favorite ending in CtM is "Revenged", mostly because of the ending
theres just a complete shift in tone in this route just like in valiant hero, with henry being totally agressive the whole way through with almost none of the usual goofiness. and all of it being paid off in the somber ending where henry just. dies.
every other time henry dies, it's played off as a joke or an obvious fail state, but here, it's the actual correct option and it's played totally straight, which makes the scene so incredibly impactful
in other news im pretty sure i cried twice back in 2020 because of charles dying in addition to the fact that paper mario the origami king also released in 2020 (something something spoilers)
It is genuinely so refreshing to see long form Henry content on RUclips in 2024. This series has had a huge impact on me (I’ve made several fangames, some of which span over a year in development with another title well on the way!), and it’s nice to see other people still remember it.
Also I fully agree that FtC is the best game. It’s the one that really got me into the series, but it’s gotta be the best package imo. I just with CtM utilized it more
Great Video! The henry series as a whole will always be one of my all time favorites. It has a certain charm to it that makes it so special. The Henry fanbase also continues to amaze me. Seeing all the creativity and talent from all the people in this community has been so cool to see! All the different events like the reanimated collab and Stickmin Direct have been amazing experiences as well. I'm glad to see that even after many years of the series being over, the community is still as strong as ever.

in the original stealing the diamond, when we are introduced to the CCC characters you can hear CSI Maiami's intro in the background and the one with glasses complains about the noise, unfortunately this reference was cut in the remastering and the joke is unfortunately lost;-;
I'll rank the games all here with 'Completing the Mission' as its own game.
(7) 'Crossing the Ridge' is the Original news ground free game and I'm pretty sure everyone that played it before the Henry series was great to see it in CM which is why out all the references from MG to TF2 this was put right in.
(6) 'Breaking into the bank' is the beginning of our greedy stickman thief and while it's predictable with little content it's always great to see him in his original game.
(5) 'Escaping the Complex' is famous from all of the let's players with also giving us Ellie however other than the drop scene this was pretty average compared to the last two.
(4) 'Escaping the prison' is in my opinion better than the Complex not in content but in it's Henry's escape story compared to all the craziness in even the airship managed to keep a tone down.
(3) 'Stealing the Diamond' is where a lot of people will say it's their favorite especially with the multiple endings and having a successful heist.
(2) 'Completing the Mission' from just its own story is great even without anything it adds especially the multi openings.
(1) 'Infiltrating the Airship' is the best of all the games in both whacky tone and the choice to fells with all of the side characters.
I wish there was a sixth ending in fleeing the complex where you could tell Ellie that you were going to charge the guard, and that way during the truck escape, she could shoot the guards so the truck doesn’t fall over.
This was an amazing retrospective to watch! The Henry Stickmin series is something I hold near and dear to my heart, and has been something that affected me for the better. The series that Puff has made and how much people love it too is one of the reasons why I love being in the community. And thank you for including Reanimated as well, Dark Mage and I were the co-creators of this, along with the other people involved in the project to make it into a reality. You really did an amazing job with this video!!

Oh wow I think this video is gonna become part of my "Henry Stickmin videos to binge-watch when bored"! Ive recently become more involved with the community myself after 3 years of drawing and animating silly things for this franchise and seeing a 40+ minute video about this amazing game release only a few days ago really warms my soul about this game series as its so nostalgic to me like it is to many others.
I honestly thank you for making this video (and making me laugh in some parts of it!) I loved the nod to the community fan projects too at the end :D
I remember first playing and loving escaping the prison on stickpage, and how I always looked to see when a new one released. Completing the collection really did feel rewarding after all those years!
Man I remember playing invading the airsgip on a browser and switching the police cams in Henry's house before they captured him as the game loaded

WOW, kudos! This video's so good. I really appreciate having one of these retrospective videos to the Stickmin series, considering it's also been really important to me as well! The video's structure was so great, I loved how you covered the games and didn't just give a plot summary (you did, but like, really briefly, to where it wasn't really the video's focus), and I loved the little interludes too to give a bit of a breather! I also really appreciate the little nods to the community. It's funny you mention 2 Left Thumbs' Finding the References series, because I feel like his and your content kind of overlap a bit, I'd recommend checking out his other videos (the dude's a freakin' legendary Flash related RUclipsr imo). And also thanks for mentioning the Reanimated collab at the end! I was one of the directors for it, and I'm really happy to see that people enjoy it so much :)

This was a very cool video, I loved your riddle school retrospective and this one is even better I'll be honest. As someone who is very active in the Henry Stickmin Community, this is a very nice addition to the retrospectives we got, probably my favorite one. Thanks for also discussing a lil about the reanimated Collab and the fangames, not everyone talks about those and we as a community appreciate it, thank you for making this.
I'm glad I could represent the Henry Stickmin community, the series has always really resonated with me, and that was the main force behind the video for me.
Really great in-depth review of this series, it would've been nice to see a few more of CtM endings, like Gem Baron for the Crossing the Bridge remake but considering how long the video is now i totally understand

Triple threat is just Henry, Ellie and Charles sharing Ellie's braincell, I'm convinced. I always loved fleeing the complex for I guess obvious reasons. Nothing will replace the love I once had for it and the probably illegal, virus filled android port I found on the playstore

I bought the collection to support the devs, but i dont plan on playing it soon. I planned on playing when i was 30 or something, as like some sort of time capsule to reminisce the old internet.

I actually love the Biggol Sword achievement. Some of the steps to get it are pretty intuitive (I got as far as the code, but never realized where I was supposed to put it) and hey, Henry gets a bonus piece of loot if he succeeds!
Man I still remember finding the series back when Escaping the Prison was new on Newgrounds. Needless to say, I streamed the collection day 1 & it's still great seeing just how much Puffball & his crew blew up with Among Us right around then..
I'm surprised you didn't mention the part of PBT and I think Ghost Inmate where after you use mosquito mode to Infiltrate the Space Station the options your given to get across the gap are the same as PU's original Stickman game

The moble versions of breaking the prison and stealing the diamond don't have much differences from the legacy version. (Pokeball became great ball and blue in sta) and the breaking the prison has a exclusive medal( you click a wanted poster) the others were basically exactly the same as the legacy version. Or a Frankenstein version of the bank one (old sounds and collections look) and somehow pirates got the last ones at some point
but if you look around for the prison and diamond ones those are the only mobile versions that are worth it. Avoid the mobile versions of the other other ones

Quick reminder: this game pretty much helped among us becoming an entire global icon of a game something to keep us entertained while we were in the pandemic back then and that said game now getting a animated series thanks to that said game’s popularity and it all started with a poor stickmin robbing a bank also my fav ending is triple threat :)
