Jason "I don't know what this corn snake is doing but he's wrapping around my hand pretty tight!" Corn snake "I'm holding on for dear life because you keep moving your hand all over the place" 😂😂 Def some great tips for a power outage situation!!
Jason's Exotic Reptiles quick question I have a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure what heating source would you recommend for this enclosure to house a boa ? And where would you recommend I get it ?
Great topic had this happen last year when I had 12 boas. Was on the weekend and was out for 6 hours. 1am-6am I put them in pillow cases and my wife and I put them under our blankets and slept with them in the bed. 🤣
Thank you for an adult version of this discussion. I was so done listening to whinny little girls read off a list for power outages and reptiles. New sub. Love the stuff brotha.
Crazy how you only have 14 k, I’ve been watching for a while. You’re the reason I got my bci. Every time I watch your vids I learn something new. Awesome work. Keep it up man💪🏼
We have some serious power outages here where I live and I know a breeder friend of mine who lost almost his whole collection after about a week with no power in our dead winter. The snakes that survived the cold all had some serious Respiratory problems and cost him a ton in vet bills. BE PREPARED FOR ANYTHING, generators, UPS's hand warmers, gas stoves body heat if you only have one or two. But BEING PREPARED is the most important thing. He had 60+ animals. The first to perish were his babies. Then the older animals. The ones that made it were so ill. He lost more money in one week than running and buying/renting a generator would have.
I've only seen a handful of your videos but they're packed full of really useful information. The other one I found really useful was cleaning/sanitization/disinfection video and talking about how it all works. A lot of stuff I already knew, but the sit times between different products and dilution rates all super helpful.
This is something I just went through and didn't know what to do. I have 30 snakes and felt overwhelmed with stress. Thank you for this very helpful video I will know what to do in the future.
When we've had no power here we've just had to keep the room temp up tbh, we have quite a warm rep room anyway so when it's all just sealed in the heat lasts a good while and if needed the house heat keeps a good ambient room temp. :)
Unfortintly if my electric goes out my heat does as well but I try to keep things close as long as possible until I know the generators need to kick on.
I've used warm water bottles to transfer snakes over short distances through cold weather, thankfully no outage situation yet but its inevitable, thanks for the tips!
This was an amazing video. I lost my small collection of 6 boas in 2013 when I had a outage here in jersey in the winter. I had them all for over 10 years from middle school and high school. Just recently couldn't resist the erge to get more.
We had an outage last week and I left the snakes alone for a couple of hours. Later I took some hand warmers and put them inside some socks and stuck them in the tubs. 10 minutes later the power came back on.
Very helpful video Jason! It's something I will for sure take into serious consideration as I progress my reptile collection. Keep up the great content!
Such a great video I delt with my first and sudden freeze and power loss a few years ago and was unprepared I ended up losing my first snake That year. It was heart breaking and I'll never find myself in that situation again.
Great video I have my Rinnai gas heater plug into a battery pack that lasts up to 4 hours then a generator for backup unlike you I live in New England always going to think about storms and no power I know CMP soon as I lose power they text me so I know exactly what's going on you can call them and set that up for free worth it all day long great video .it was nice meeting you at the New England reptile expo keep up the good work
Awesome video again. Very informative and always with the reptiles best care in mind. A topic for your next video could be how your breeding season is going as well as a room tour of what all you got going on for the new year.
You have some great ideas thanks. I was thinking about using a large cooler with air holes instead of the box idea. It may hold the heat longer, what do you think. Great video as always keep them coming.
Dear Jason, i am already watching your videos about boa breeding tips. But because my english is not very good im little bit confused 😅. I am new at boa and trying to breed them for new experience. And i have some question, 1. At how age snake usually ready to breed ?? (male and female) 2. What is Best temperature for boa ? 3. How much time the male you usually took it to female cage, until get ovulated ? 4. I watch your videos how to know female ready to breed when she is get follicels?? Can you explain to me what is that? My project is Super Salmon het Albino x normal het Albino. I hope i can get answers from you. Because it will help me so much for knowing more about breeding boa. 😊😊 Thanks jason 👍👍
i was thinking of buying a few of those big Styrofoam coolers and putting them inside that with heat packs. i've got 2 snakes. 4 chameleons. a beardy. a leopard gecko. a Baja blue rock lizard. and 2 tarantulas. so i figure 3 or 4 of those coolers would be good.
I want to upgrade my baby rack to have more than enough space for future babies but I'd also like to add other snakes to my collection. I had a question and maybe possible video for you. Do you know any species that require similar heat/humidity requirements as boas that I could keep in the same rack, under the same heat range?
Only problem with solar panels is most of them don't get installed with a battery backup unless you are in a very remote area. So you would still be out of power in an outage

I said the same thing lol
Great topic had this happen last year when I had 12 boas. Was on the weekend and was out for 6 hours. 1am-6am I put them in pillow cases and my wife and I put them under our blankets and slept with them in the bed. 🤣
Haha that works too
Heat packs worked for me. Our power company couldn't tell us when it'd be back on so I just went with the idea it wouldn't be on for a couple days.
Hearing "you want your water somewhere around 100-105 degree range" made me chuckle.
Haha. Always with access to a cool end of course, but correct, that’s my hot side target.

Absolutely. A lot of terrible outcomes if you are not prepared
Your a life saver I got my snake last week and I just got a power outage and was fully freaking out bc I’m so new to this thank you so much!!
Just had this thought a few days ago. Great advice. Especially the heat packs and styrofoam.
Thank you!

Absolutely needed if we live in the colder climates.

Haha that's always the way but at least there was a plan
Jason's Exotic Reptiles if only I was smart enough to think that far ahead. I really didn’t think of it for an hour or so.

Great choice in intro music. Keep up the great work man.

LOVE THE VLOG !!!!!!!!......YOU ARE A GREAT INSPIRATION.
Thank you!
Great ideas keep them coming !
Thanks man!
Just bought a baby ball python today and had a power outage 4 days ago, I would’ve panicked!! Thank you 🙏🏽😩
Sorry to hear about the power outage but glad to hear that the video was helpful!
Great advice
Thanks man
this beautiful man . thank youuu

It's a great idea for sure. Essentially the same concept
Omg. Super helpful and informative. Thank you
Thank you!

I'll have a video on this coming up.

I would like to hear some history on genes and different lines in bc and bi.
I'll see what I can do.
Well aren't you a cutie!
Haha thank you
Thinking about a Generac whole house generator that runs off of natural gas with automatic switchover.
It's a great idea if you can make it work
I want to upgrade my baby rack to have more than enough space for future babies but I'd also like to add other snakes to my collection. I had a question and maybe possible video for you. Do you know any species that require similar heat/humidity requirements as boas that I could keep in the same rack, under the same heat range?
You can keep most boas and pythons the same
also. do you know if kerosene heaters are okay to use?
I’m not sure. My guess is that they are not in an enclosed space
@@JasonsExoticReptiles ah okay. Gonna be in the teens this weekend. And I'm worried to death someone or a tree is going to take out the power
Maybe if you paid your electric bill you wouldn't have to worry about them
Haha my electric bill is like a second mortgage.
I think id rather get solar pannels then a generator when talking about whole house for a power outage
Only problem with solar panels is most of them don't get installed with a battery backup unless you are in a very remote area. So you would still be out of power in an outage
@@JasonsExoticReptiles tesla makes a battery for youre house so might wanna look into that
Not much of you rambling, and tossing your poor snake around
