    I am 58.
When I was 25ish, I managed a hobbyshop for 3 years. Every week, I bought a few kits with the intention of building. But my interest changed from car models to Tamiya RC cars ,to RC Airplanes,to real boats, to Japanese motorcycles, and finally Harley's.
I always kept my car model collection.
Thanks to Hpiguy,I got back into building about 3 years ago. I was ready to sell my entire collection of unbuilt car model kits. I love your channel.
    Your a good person.

  • @MrModelworx

All 4 of those kits originated from the 1960s. The Hairy Olds obviously from Monogram.
The AMT 69 GT500 was a modified 1969 annual kit , the testors 48 Ford was originally made by a company called IMC, and the Revell 58 Sunliner was one of their earliest car kits, multipiece body and very tricky to put together lol.
    Nice bunch of kits.

Nice score Matt! My dad had a friend who had a real '59 Ford Galaxie. He would come over on the weekend and take us for a cruise. The first time he opened the electric roof my whole world changed. Amazing! To a kid like me this meant the skies the limit! The second pony looks like the AMT/ERTL '68 Ford Shelby GT-500 3N1 witch can be built stock, custom or drag. The GT-500 had a 428 cubic inch big block v8. This model was changed in mid year to the GT500KR. The KR stood for King of the road and the engine was a 428 Cobra Jet.

The last Skip's Fiesta model I built was, 51 Anglia street rod... I built that when I was in my mid-teens in the mid 80's not to date myself TOO much lol... Try finding that kit for less than a million dollars on ebay these days!!! I've seen the 59 Ford Skip's Fiesta kit but, it's similarly expensive...

I think the 4 engine all wheel drive dragster you mentioned would be Tony Nancy's "Showboat " dragster which Revell did many years ago. you could probably see it on "scalemates".

Awesome ! I built the twin engined monogram olds 442 many years ago . It was called Street Freak and moulded in yellow . Goodness knows whatever happened to it ! Speaking of yellow cars , the yellow Shelby , if it were mine , I would build "basic" style . That is everything yellow would remain unpainted yellow but for contrast I would paint all the chrome parts Matt (Flat) Black . Can't wait to see what you decide to build this time around .

Just finished the convertible version of the Testors 48’ Ford. It’s a challenging kit with the multi piece body but with some planning turned out pretty nice.

  • @galaxiesteve7139
    @galaxiesteve7139 3 года назад +2

I've got that 59 Galaxie model. The body is a pain to try to get everything lined up and glued properly. The interior is great for detailing because it has the separate door panels, but still a pain to line everything up. It is very cool with the working hardtop. Messed up the paint on the body, so it sat in the purple pond and that is how it is to this day. Maybe I should get it out and finish it up some day. I also have that Shelby Mustang from when AMT was sold to Ertl. The decals and instructions look a little different, but it was molded in white, so I think your "freebie" may be a later release than what I have. The only thing I remember about it was the nose was a little hard to get glued on. It turned out really nice though.

Great video matt,I remember buying that white moulded '68 mustang kit way back in 1992,so the release was from probably around 1990 or '91 be more like it?,the model itself ended up getting trashed but I used alot of the main parts in a few of my other builds I had going around that time, used that huge 427 engine in a AMT '56 ford customline i bought at the same time as the mustang, lol,a couple of years back,I got a later 2000's release of the same AMT '68 mustang kit,but it can only be built up as one version, has no where near the amount of extra parts that came in that early 90's release, looking forward to you when you build this one man,as I have quite a few 60's mustang kits now myself, keep em coming, cheers

My understanding about airplanes and tanks models is that old kits are not good due to their details and raised panels, is this the same situation in car model kits?

    • @modelcarvideos5829

It can be with some but it depends which brand usually. Some older kits are still decent.

Check that Testors one and its instructions thoroughly before investing time and supplies on it. I just disposed of a Testors from the 1990's which is the worst thing I've ever seen in model cars. I wasted $20 on it 20-something years ago. A $20 price tag with:
    no side mirror housings
    no rear view windshield mirror
no hood options - only an obnoxious, rectangular scoop hood
    no manifold & filter options
exhaust headers and plastic front axle that goes through the engine block obstruct each other
    no rear seat
instructions don't really tell where to put ignition components which also cannot be found in real life photos of the car
firewall prevents the interior from sitting forward where it was supposed to.
firewall is required to help keep very weak A-pillars from breaking
There's probably more wrong with it that I didn't get to before it was jettisoned.
