      Oh I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I was just thinking I needed to paint another butterfly or moth soon… something about the snow makes me long for warmth and even insects, haha

    Is so nice to see you doing the details in real time. Sometimes I tend to speed up my drawing process because I keep seeing videos of artists drawing super fast 😅.
    After seeing your butterfly videos I feel comfortable enough to draw the wings of a fairy drawing I have kept in stand by for a long time :) 💕

      Oh I’m so glad! Yes the process is super slow and careful (at least for me). Sometimes I speed it up to respect your time but I always try to let you know if I do!

      I love it both ways, since one is teaching me more about colors, whereas the other is more practical, since I can see in which order I'm supposed to do things. I believe, though, that for beginners it might be a little confusing having to different videos.

    Really great! Thank you!! Is it possible to paint a transparent object over a solid object? I was thinking of painting these transparent wings over a leaf.. Thank you again!!

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  3 года назад

      You can, but it will be difficult to see. I recommend gauche or something a little more opaque so that you can see the elements that you to highlight. Otherwise it will just look like a leaf with an oddly dark spot and slightly pinker areas

    Beautiful! I have a question about the use of the reference photo. Did you ask permission to use it? Could you sell the painting? I really struggle with what to paint, but I’m afraid of painting others photography. Thank you, and again it is beautiful!

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  3 года назад +2

      If you are planning to sell a piece then you should definitely seek out the photographer and ask for permission/pay for the rights to sell the artwork.
      I work with local photographers and have contacted several about individual images and have had good experiences.
      My personal “work around” is that I create my own compositions by manipulating multiple reference images. You likely wouldn’t be able to even find my reference images by looking at my finished “for sale” pieces.
      It’s a grey area, but I figure if someone can’t tell that one was used as a reference for the other, then you’re probably okay.

    i have a question if this meathod can be used on wood? because i got a wood cutout from dollar tree in the shape of a butterfly i want to paint and design it and make it look perfect

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  Год назад

      Watercolor might not work as well but you can definitely paint on wood! Maybe test it out on the back with different paints before you dive in and fully commit

    Do you work on Arches watercolor cold press paper?

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  3 года назад +1

      This piece was done on Strathmore 300 series watercolor paper (cold press). I have used Arches hot press and enjoyed it but I haven’t used their cold press yet. Strathmore is usually cheaper and I’m happy with the quality so I haven’t been tempted to switch yet. ☺️
