    It was so weird seeing airports like this last year. As much as lack of crowds was nice, I'm glad things are finally starting to get back to normal.
    I was in HI when Covid first started spreading a lot on the U.S. mainland last March. When I left TN on March 10, things were still pretty normal. The first week in Hawaii was still pretty much business as usual. And then everything started shutting down within a few days' time in the middle of my trip 2-week. By the time I flew home, it was crazy to see how much had changed in 2 weeks. Seeing ATL with almost no one around at 2:00 pm was just crazy. Even crazier was seeing almost no traffic on I-75 in Atlanta.
    Our 293-seat aircraft from SLC to ATL had about 30-40 people on board, many of whom were deadheading crew returning home as all of their flights were being cancelled. Our aircraft was on its way to be parked after our flight. My flight back to BNA from ATL was cancelled, so just rented a car in ATL to drive back to TN rather than wait hours for the next flight that wasn't cancelled. After getting back home, I literally didn't leave a roughly 10-mile radius from March 25 until November. It was so weird.
    Actually flew back to HI in early December not long after HI reopened to tourism (with the testing requirements.) HNL just felt eerie even in December. Most shops and restaurants in the airport were still shut down and my flight from HNL to KOA had only about a dozen passengers (on a 737.)
    Looking forward to seeing ATL for the first time again since last March later this month for a flight to ANC. Looking forward to seeing airports mostly back to normal again for a change.

      Yes I just flew the same route again and it was a complete change from last year! No eerie feeling and people seemed a lot more normal. It was a nice change.

    Yes, almost all of the airports now are so quiet and it makes me sad seeing airports without that much people... Stay safe always.

    haha typical British weather - cloudy, dark and rainy! Never seen the airport so quiet, that is crazy! It is ridiculous that wearing a mask is not compulsory. Very long trip wow!

      Yes, did manage to get some sunshine in Wales before I left. But the trip was exhausting!

    That's so eerie - a ghost town indeed. I hope it's already picking back up. Crazy how different travel like that is with temperature checks, etc. Thanks for sharing! -c/t

      It was a very different experience. And I realized a week later that my mask was worn backwards!

    Cardiff! We are very interested in that city! How did you find it? It is really strange to see Heathrow so empty! And also LAX, always so busy! We will go back to Europe (hopefully ) next week, we are pretty curious to see how it will be. Wow how long was the whole trip long?

    Did they make you take a Covid test in Anchorage?When was this video made?

    • @AndreaAdventures
      @AndreaAdventures  4 года назад +1

      This was filmed on May 22. I didn't have to take a COVID test in Anchorage. It also wasn't enforced to sign the quarantine mandate, but I decided to do it anyway. Yesterday was my last day.

    • @iheartnationalparks5335

      Andrea Kuuipo Abroad wow, that is nuts. I hope they don't enforce that in August for our land trip.

      @@iheartnationalparks5335 They actually put out a new mandate. You will have to test negative before you arrive or at the airport and then you will have to test negative again or 14 days quarantine.

    What are the airports like now. I really want to plan a trip to alaska soon, where I stand with flying. UK to alaska?

    • @AndreaAdventures
      @AndreaAdventures  3 года назад +1

      Hi Alex, I haven't been in the airports since September, but they were definitely busier in AK when I left. If you don't have an American passport, you will have to wait and see if they open up the borders again.

    Did you have someone meet the plane in Anchorage and ask for the travel form and proof of a Covid test?

    • @AndreaAdventures

      No, I arrived before they started implementing this. I've been told that this is currently happening though.
